- Removing the wheel bearings from a boat trailer, small trailer, utility trailer, flatbed trailer or Harbor Freight trailer is pretty easily done with common hand tools. This is a quick video showing how easily a trailer wheel assembly can be removed to inspect and repack wheel bearings, replace axle seals or to replace wheel bearings in smaller trailers.

Here is a great tip, once you remove the outer bearing, hand tighten the castle nut back on and then pull the rotor off, then the inner bearing and seal will pop right out, saves time from having to get screwdriver or pry bar to pop seal out and then remove bearing by hand

I've done a single axle bearing replace pack and set, both sides in a half hour. It's so easy and I get to change 1 hour ± supplies
I used to do it that way but I use bearing buddies now. Not sure how much I trust them but seem alright so far.
Why was the washer between the seal and the inner bearing?
I have no idea - I bought this trailer used
@@WayneTheBoatGuy I just bought one that was missing the washers on all four hubs. I was like, wtf?
It's a spacer because the axle shaft is a little longer than the hub

Only done half the job.What about the tapered race you haven't knocked out for each of the inner and outer Timkin style bearings.
Exactly !!! This is now the 4th or 5th video I've watched - and not one of them shows how to remove the OUTER BEARING RACE !!! Frustrating but I think I've got it worked out. I'm guessing just punch it out with a pin-punch
