As Richard and James board a ferry to Mount Nokogiri, Jeremy is closing in fast in his Nissan GT-R. The scene is set for one of the most dramatic and closest ever finishes seen on on Top Gear challenge. Who will make it to the Buddha first?

That's because it is scripted garbage aimed at braindead morons, who simply want to be "entertained"... this episode exemplifies everything wrong with what Top Gear became under the "leadership" of Jeremy Clarkson... stuff all in the entire video about the... CAR.... it's now an Indiana Jones-esque adventure story: "who will win?!!!" Braindead garbage aimed at morons.

Ian - Clash of Clans Guessing it is to sell DVDs. Just a guess though. I don't see any other reason to do more work to broadcast your content on someplace where broadcasting time is as infinite as the interest of your viewers. Just like before when they changed the sound volume on purpose to have the talking be much softer than the music.

The editing of these clips on youtube is rather rubbish, at the end of the Part 1 Jeremy was not lost, Hammond and May were together. Now suddenly they're all lost and separated right at the start. Are we missing several minutes of story here?
mate, you are missing out on a lot, the BBC just uploaded the start and the end of this race, all the bits in between have not been uploaded at all.

You people are so stupid. The BBC no exactly what they're doing. This is an advertisement; nothing more. The fact that you want to see the rest of it means that they've done an extremely good job.

Technically, that wasn't a bullet train (from what was shown), but a regular transport train. The bullet train or the "Shinkansen" models are different in designs. They have a much sharper nose.
Mengo It's because there's a weird cut between part 1 and 2. They were in the bullet train earlier but it doesn't get shown in these videos.
I'm sure that these are the old models of the shinkansen, but either way, both are amazing. I've been on the standard shinkansens and they're AWESOME
They rode an express train. These trains are fast (not as fast as Shinkansen), run different routes, and are sometimes not owned by the Japan Railway system.
These express trains don't run on the Shinkansen line, like the N700 Shinkansen that is ran on the Tokaido line from Tokyo-Osaka. Also yes, the bullet train is distinguishable by the sharp nose. It has always had a sharp nose.

Correcting the headband by wearing it upside up might have awakened the ancient warrior spirits, enabling the GTR to gain 10% more power while increasing Jeremy's stamina at the cost of loud heartbeats, causing his victory to be set in stone.

In 2014 Hokuriku Shinkansen line coming from Tokyo was extended to Kanazawa - the starting point of this challenge. So there is no more need to make that huge detour to the west. Since then there is no chance that the car will win in the same challenge. Eventually, bullet trains took their revenge.

Jeremy used about $70 worth of gas and those train ticket came close to a $100 each so $200 total.. however each speed tiket start at $90 and go up $30 on every 5 kph over the speed limit.. pretty sure that's over $1000 worth of tickets + banned from ever driving in japan
