Ricciardo gaining under braking again, the confidence is back! :)
YEAAAAAH that’s exactly what I was thinking about
I know he had a hard time on the brakes in the McLaren. I wonder if since struggling with that car he has learned something.
@@Blacksunshine636 No, he had changed his driving style to suit the McLaren, on advice from his then engineer, James Key, and it was a huge mistake. Remember the comment from Horner that Daniel has learnt some bad habits while away"? A few sim sessions and he was able to press reset and go back to his traditional driving style, which is why he ended up doing the tyre test and getting the AT seat
@@timjohnun4297 the McLaren in inconsistent like the Ferrari. It just doesn't attract the same criticism because 1. McLaren is not a title contender 2. Norris and Piastri are super talents that are still young and adaptive, they make the car look better than what it actually is.
@@Blacksunshine636 that McLaren actually make his driving style become a mess for being half ass on something that is not for him. For trying to adapt to that car, he picks up alot of bad habit, which hinder his confident and performance when driving a car that actually suit him. His move out of RB has always been a mistake
Classic Ricciardo mid corner pace, and in an alpha tauri!
The sheer joy of watching him perform again
Just imagine his peace in a rebull!! It's clear Perez is only making time pretty much in the straights!
Imagine what he could do in that Red Bull!
Hopefully we won't have to imagine too far in the future here
Exactly, I love Checo, but he's been disappointing lately. Would love to see Ric back in a bull!
@@ursugardaddy1 as much as I know that's probably going to happen. I don't want that for red bull. Him and Max were seriously competing for number 1. Idk why would red bull want someone who wouldn't back down to Max again you know. Cuz let me tell you Daniel never did.
The problem with Daniel is that the worst part of his career is McLaren time. This was also the time when the sport triple in world wide fame. However if you go back to his Renault days. Jesus Christ with a motorbike. This guy had some of the craziest cleanest overtakes. He becomes a better driver through momentum. The more stuff going on the better he is. I remember his inside out dummy move against checo in Singapore. Never seen anyone with the balls to overtake in that particular corner with the short yellow wall in the back. He's good. It is only a matter of him forgetting about his stint in McLaren.
Time for liam lawson in the redbull...but he could be a threat to max so danny is better for number 2 driver ..
@@josegrullon024 dont think anyone will get close to max, so dont need to worry about that. ric will get a win here and there, but max will dominate
Classic and clean late breaker technique. Well done Ricc.
The best, most intuitive and complete 3D comparison out there. Hope everyone finds your work. Amazing job!
He outbrakes Perez massively
Perez has always been bad on braking in the rb after they changed the geometry to anti dive :/
No, Ricciardo has more downforce setup than Perez which shortens his braking distance. You can see how much Perez gaps Ricciardo in the straights.
@@demonfire2989that's cause rb is a rocketship on the straights
Why would he run a downforce setup on a track with so many long straights makes no sense right?
@Anelexa at mexico everyone uses monaco spec wings and gets as close to monaco spec downforce as much as they can. aside from car setups, the only more downforce is how the car is built and the at has less downforce than the rb. so perez is just extremely shit on the brakes and the AT braking distance is more than the red bull smh.
Riccardo's used the kerbs more effectively than Perez, particularly through 6, 7, and 8. He also carried more speed through 12, the AT was very draggy even at high altitude of Mexico.
The Alpha Tauri is still struggling in the very slow speed corners, but you can notice Daniel had confidence carrying speed into the corner medium to high speed corners, and when he has that he is one of the best. Very excited to see what he can do now for the remainder of the season I suspect some more opportunities for points will come.
Please take a moment to watch this video, and you will be able to discern that Perez's driving skills may not be on par with his competitors. While he may have the advantage of driving the best car on the grid, his ability to gain time on Ricardo is mostly limited to the straight portions of the track, where he can accelerate with full force. However, when it comes to navigating turns and other aspects of the race, Perez seems to be losing considerable ground. @f1newsTR
Although i like Perez, i think he kinda needs a break. He was amazing in 2021 season, was a beast at defending but isn't able to be competitive anymore, and max doesn't need a defender anymore
he was not amazing in 2021 bro@@deslash-gw5dv
There are a lots of variables that the telemetry doesn’t show us. Gearing, ramp angles, suspension settings and downforce can all be factors and these days, most drivers don’t even set the car up themselves. They have mechanics and things like MoTeC to do that for them.
Not really. Yeah he brakes earlier but he’s also getting on the gas earlier giving him more speed in the straights, it’s not just the car
@@OliDox Yeah, despite my post, I think that was really the point.
The way checo is performing, he would struggle to keep a seat in a hass or alfa romeo, let alone a team fighting for championships. Its a miracle he hasnt been kicked out mid season.
yes redbul has been pretty patient which is strange
The only reason he is still around is because RB wants that second place in WDC.
There's just no reason at the moment to replace him, they won both titles and Checo (due to luck lately) is probably going to secure second place. And then they won everything this year.
But if Perez is not showing anything in the upcoming races (or fucks up 2nd place), it's most likely over for him.
Ricciardo driving alongside the quickest cars and drivers in a car with that level of disadvantage on the straights shows he is 100 percent back and far from washed up. I really think he just needed to connect with a car/team that allowed him to drive his way. If the honey badger keeps this up that leaves Red Bull with two options for next season. First is just to kick checo out and put Danny next to max. I think their previous quarrels are behind them and they’ll get along. The second is they keep him at alphatauri for the time being and build that team up to be more competitive putting yuki on the hot seat next to Perez
Previous quarrels? Max and Ricky never had any quarrels. Ricky left because he didn't want to be second driver, their personal and working relationship has always been beyond excellent.
@@SnitsieI don’t know about that. I think they’re ok now on a work and personal level. But they might have had some tense moments after Baku and Hungary back in the days
You know they’re reviewing all this data too!
Daniel riccardo polishing a turd into a diamond
The confidence is back. The grid better watch out for the honey badger
The best of the late brakers! Hopefully we can see him back in the RB soon. Great to see he has his confidence back. Go Ricciardo!
Wow that was wicked to see how and why the outcome was what it was
This is beautiful. It helps so much having the racing next to the telemetry. I always struggled to understand data by just looking at the telemetry readings on Jolyon Palmer's race recap show on F1 TV. Thank you!
That overlay is indisputable proof Daniel should be in checos seat next year.
even outqualified him in an AT (to be fair he was in 2/10 of Leclerc, Sainz and Verstappen)
That's the best comparison I've ever seen. Nice one mate. Dan is so much smoother steering as well
Daniel Ricciardo, late braking!
There is so much information in this video. Great work! 🎉
his corner approaches are amazing. Far better angles than Perez
How RB19 is superior on straights yet Ricciardo is so fast in corners weirdly reminds me Takumi v Keisuke on Initial D :D
Low vs high downforce setup. Works like magic
@@mihaiconstantin-pau5116everyone runs high downforce in Mexico.
The RB is just extremely efficient with how it generates downforce.
Very clean and informative style, you've earned another subscriber in me today! Keep it up :)
To me this is less about late braking and more about carrying more speed in the entry phase (which all good drivers do). Looks like Ric finally has a car which gives him the front end he needs to do that (rotate the car as he gets off the brakes)
This! its a bit of a myth that Ric brakes super late... he actually brakes early carries speed through the corner and needs the front end to bite as he rotates the car. He only brakes late during his overtakes
@@rachaeltaylor815 yes! Danny is a late breaker in an overtaking matter, but it is not his driving style. Probably the lattest of breakers as a normal driving style is Hamilton, and that was why he was much faster than Bottas, because the Merc could break so deep into the corner.
Danny is an early breaker, but has the natural ability of breaking later
Exactly you can see its always its on rotation & through the apex where he gains. Post Mexico interviews confirmed that even though AT not the fastest - it is a bit more consistent through the rotation phase than the Mclaren was, & this gives him more confidence.
@@rachaeltaylor815 Agreed, there's a common misconception especially amongst newer fans that later braking = faster which is a very trivialized way to look at it. My hypothesis is that the Mclaren is/was very understeery on entry, which made it very difficult for Daniel. The style he has shown above should work very well with the RB (next year), as it is quite on the nose
great graphics... they say it all in such a simple and elegant format.. more please
Would’ve put it on pole in a redbull. Straight line speed difference is crazy
yeah, insane to think about.
Dannyric in a red bull 2024
The last of the late breakers! Imagine what that man could do in a Red Bull
Utterly fascinating and insightful! ✌😄
That was illuminating. Thanks
Nice, thank you for visualizing this
I’m still convinced in Mexico at least. Daniel in the Redbull could have been P1 or P2. I know Max wasn’t able too but Ricciardo is often very quick here he likes this place. He perhaps could have found the time necessary at least in Qualifying anyways.
He did have solid race pace so perhaps he in a better car had a real shot at winning. But it’s only one race. I’m happy we got to see the old Ricciardo back let’s hope he stays competitive. Bear in mind he’s still driving an Alpha Turi. They are often inconsistent with pace. Best to measure him against Yuki for the remainder of the season. I’ll definitely be watching them closely.
Good lord i wonder if checo is even getting near the lateral g force limit on those tires.
he needs that red bull seat cause imagine what he could do with that car
This is so cool! Subbed!
Love seeing the telemetry graphics - really makes it easy for a peasant like me to understand. 😂
With the early braking, Perez looks like he's driving a truck. 😜
He’s back!
imagine if he was in the redbull, he would have been pole for sure.
Master of line, throttle and brake. Finesse!
Imagine if Alfa Taure gained more life at the end of the season? Turning around gaining pace to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes? It would be fantastic
not possible
@@rishigupta8949 people said it would be impossible to Toro Rosso to bounce back in 2008 but we all know what happened
@@lucasvillafuerte613 ye but there's only 3 races left with no major upgrades left. Plus ferrari and mercedes have the arnd the 3rd so it'll be pretty hard to catch up.
Now imagine what he could do if he was in that red bull...
Oh wow, Dan is going late on the brakes again. That’s good to see.
looks like daniel just carries way more speed into the corners to make up for the car's lack of straight line and traction out of the corners.
Those graphics are amazing , thanks for posting them,
Ricciardo would have put 10 car lengths on him if they swapped cars
That Red Bull DRS is MENTAL!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 the spinning richard XD
Can't believe we're having this discussion!
his braking is later and he seems to go on throttle sooner. That confident.
Put Ricciardo in the Red Bull and he'll be the champ next year with those skills!
Yeah, hate to say it but definitely that guy can do better than Checo in that RB.
LOVE to watch the distancie of the lap never seen that before un a f1 video
The first sector its 2 k omg
Can you do a trace versus these two and Verstappen? I feel that that would be a fantastic datapoint.
The question ought to be phrased the other way around.
Keep in mind perez didn't do badky here, only being a tenth or 2 off of verstappen
That’s what makes it so sad, even when he truly tries and puts in a good performance (for his standards) Danny still drove that AT to out qualify him
higher top speed = longer brake distance. Meaning the Alpha can brake later and less to acheive the same. But flat out the Redbull is so bloody fast.
That doesn't make any sense but ok😂
@@TMJ32 Ok, ill explain it better... if im doing 300kmph and your doing 320kmph.. are our braking markers and distance the same?.... the car going faster has to brake earlier, while the car travelling slower can brake later... 1 car has to drop more speed to achieve the turn while the other car has to brake less to achieve the same turn. It's why sometimes they say some cars are faster in the corner and others are faster on the straight.
we are so back
Can you do this with say a driver like Albon vs Perez or Hulkenberg vs Perez. Would be interesting to see how those drivers take these complex corners too.
perez pace comes from car. Dans pace comes from driver
you recognize the machine in the straight , but the driver in the corners...
Partially. The straights are equally about the corner exit before the straight. A bad exit will hurt far more than the car differences.
Ricardo does very well in this comparison, every demanding part of the track is his. Perez's car is noticeably faster. I hope that Ricardo will show the same in the next races as in Mexico.
The main thing I noticed is that Ricciardo brakes in 2 stages on a few of the corners, brakes slightly, and then heavily further into the corner.
Volvio el mejor frenador del mundo.
Thanks for this video. Now I can destroy everyone at Shrek Smash n Crash Racing
Hope to see Dani Ric having Rb seat next season
Just better driving really.
Christ that braking
This proves that once again, the RB19 (which was tailor made for Max) was not suitable for Checo's driving styles
Correct me if I am wrong, but do you guys feel that Sergio Perez is at the moment going through, what Daniel Ricciardo was going through at Renault and especially McLaren?
Ricciardo was thriving at Renault. I agree with his time at McLaren though. Seems like it's all about confidence
@@rez493 You are right, I should not included Renault in my question.
Difference on the straights tho, holly…
King of the late breaks.
1:15 if checo didn’t veer off into his left would he have had more speed?
its not so much about late braking , its about high minimum speed , early on power - Danny is able to straightened the car sooner ... while checo has to bleed a ton of energy on entry and then stands on power ... hes amplifying RB weaknesses in slow corners.
He's gaining a lot on corner exit .
Great to see Daniel back racing give him a decent car then he is going to score points
I like checo but I'd love to see Danny back in the redbull
i would like to also make 3d animation can you tell me how?
So in every other aspect than pure performance of the car he is better. Nuff said
Saving this video for when he gets replaced by Lawson in a couple more races 😂😢😅😮
How fast is that RB19 … wow!
Because Danny Ric doesn't turn down into cars and go out on lap 1
It’s really not about brakes, it’s about when he gets on the gas and how he actually takes the corners, just look at the data
This car makes heros
Liam spent a couple of races in it and everybody wants to give him Perez's seat
Ricci back in, now it's his turn to make Checo look 'bad'
Hi, Christian Horner!
Ricci prefers cars that have oversteer like Alpha Tauri & Red Bull. McLaren had understeer & that’s why he struggled. And of course gaining under braking. Can’t say I’m surprised. I hope he’ll replace Perez.
For the finish, why might Checo go to the outside? It seems a longer path. 1:13
Haters are gonna hate this headline lol
how do you get the data ?
I notice Perez almost never takes the shortest line to the finish on a qually lap. It's the same with Interagos. Everyone is taking the shortest line, yet he takes the wide line as if he was in the middle of a race. That extra distance may be worth a few hundredths.
How i really wanna see how ricciardo did against verstappen
Last of the late brakers.
Alternative title : How was Perez so slow?!
Except, nothing was unusual for perez. He's time wasnt that far off but Ric was unexpectedly up high in 4th.
DR was only a tenth of Verstappen. Perez was only 2 tenths off Verstappen. Jack Doohan seems to think the difference between Max and Checo is 3 tenths. So...a better title should've been, why was Verstappen so slow?
Yeah I know it actually wasn't that bad, but yeah, the tendency u know, how is he every time so slow lol
@@jsmr451 lmao
@@MarinMixes Cant come to grips with the car. But he did ok here. Until turn 1...lol
i wonder how Daniels driving style would fit on the Redbull?
is rb19 so sensitive at corner that even 11 cannot confidently controls it?
The reason for this is that Ricardo uses carbon LSD. Carbon LSD doesn't cause understeer.
Lol oh yeah hes so fast. Couldnt out wualify yuki though or sergio lol.
It just looks like the Redbull is running less aero, so its slower in the corners and faster in a straight line.
Crazy Perez has such a more powerful car but still can’t overdrive Ricciardo
Danny is one trick pony but damn the trick that he has is top level.
Checo coasted before the 1st corner, then he's braking really early.
Ricciardo has so much more speed through corners.
Perez has the MUCH faster car and is still a tenth slower. If you look at the early straights you see how much quicker of a car the red bull is in terms of raw power.
As washed as you think Ricciardo is, hes really making the most of the car hes been given and you can see why at the Pirelli tyre test they signed him on the spot.
And Hamilton closing in on second in the championship while Verstappen can literally split his points in half and still come first AND SECOND, Perez REALLY is giving red bull every excuse to drop him like McLaren dropped Ricciardo. Is there anyone who doesnt believe he has the potential to be on pole if he was in a red bull?
