      😭Ditto! I love LOVE every single thing about this build. There were so many amazing enclosures! Though Garrett's is the best hands down. It feels like an old workshop in a barn simply from lookin at it. Feelings of a warm summer breeze and memories echoing of generations past. I don't care who looks at this build, reptile enthusiast or not, this grand epiphany that "start living together with nature now or loose her forever" smacks you right in the kisser. Wishin it was in my house with a bucket list animal from #ReachOutReptiles, I hear the owner of ROR is a really down to earth guy and his work is super important! Oh and you're cool to Garret...I guess. 😉

      Same! I first watched it on the snake discovery end and for a while I thought he had lost (as in gone crazy), but when it was all finished and he said that about his grandpa’s tools I teared up. As someone who grew up in a rural area spending the weekends with my grandparents, I could relate so much to the story he told about the finished product and wanting to build a career around getting people engaged and immersed in the natural world, I had to vote for him. It was truly an inspiring build and I am 100% subscribing and sticking around.

I think some of it is the emotional connection-my grandfather was a farmer/carpenter, and had the same tools-it /feels/ like home, as weird as that may sound. Although hah, I just realized - we DO have this enclosure, for our cats! My husband installed “skyways” - 1x10s stretching from our front door to the front windows, about 14 feet up. There are turrets, a literal ramp, multiple stairways on and off, bridges, pockets, places to nap, you name it. They can play the floor is lava and still get around the complete loft space; he estimates he put up over 220sqft of cat-only elevated walkway.

      There’s at least one zoo with a similar enclosure for their black rat snakes: the Columbus zoo! They always had the native snakes you find in barns in an enclosure that was built to be the inside of a barn. It was a surprise to come upon after tons of naturalistic enclosures, and they used it to emphasize that the snakes provide a service in the barn and shouldn’t be killed.
      (They continued that theme elsewhere and now have a whole exhibit space of animals in synanthrope-style enclosures, built as if it’s a marketplace.)

    Hi Garrett! I just wanted to say that after watching Snake Discovery's videos, along with yours and all the other contestants, I'm newly subscribed to your channel. I think RUclips showed me one of your videos sometime ago and then didn't suggest anything else afterwards, so I'm glad to have found you again via Snake Discovery and their event. I absolutely love the enclosure you made! The inclusion of your grandfather's tools was such a sweet and unique touch to an already amazing build! It melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes when I saw it. I wish I could make it out there for the grand opening of the zoo, I'd absolutely do what I can to take that enclosure home with me, haha! Lots of love to y'all from South Florida! 💚🐍💚

It is absolutely beautiful and the fact that you put your grandfather's actual tools in it blows my mind! Everyone did a great job building their enclosure. I was trying to imagine either my ball python or rosy boa in each one. Your build was so different than all of the others and in the end I voted for yours to win. Mostly because every part of the enclosure is accessible for getting the little critters out. Also because it looked like it has the most usable space.

    • @BadHairdayKimmie
      @BadHairdayKimmie 3 года назад

      @@ReachOutReptiles The only part of your build that a Rosy would not appreciate is the large water tub. As a true California native, mine is water conscious and avoids touching water as much as he possibly can. His water dish is a 3" condiment bowl. The rest of your build he would absolutely love exploring. It would take him quite a while to cover a 4x2x2 but he would enjoy the hours of exploration. Rosy Boas are my absolute favorite snake. As you said, the crown jewel. Totally underrated in the hobby.
