I could never imaging anyone who’s researched superdwarf and sd/d crosses ever going anywhere else other than Garrett. Reach Out Reptiles IS the top. I love my girl Leda. I love that she had the very best start to life not only for her health but also for her disposition. She’s never struck at us and she just wants to interact with us and explore all of the time. Couldn’t ask for a better animal and I know it’s because of the start she got with reach out reptiles.
I can personally attest to your ethics. I made the decision to buy a SD. You asked where I lived and I told you south Florida. It was an immediate “no, it’s illegal there to have them”. I knew that but in my excitement, I had forgotten. I really appreciated your honesty and wouldn’t have dreamed of asking you to “do it anyway”. Which I know you would’ve refused. Lol. Ethical breeders are so important!!!🐍❤️🐍
I had no idea what I wanted when I first contacted you guys. G.I. Joe was patient with me and gave me an easy questionnaire to help narrow things down for me. Now I’m on the wait list and so excited for what is to come. Thanks Garret love your videos!
you got me into superdwarves and down the road i will only buy from reach out reptiles! your knowledge and dedication to superdwarf retics is great and that’s the kind of person i feel comfortable purchasing my pet from.
Honestly I agree with everything you said. In this video. Now I haven't had any ability to prepare myself for a snake because of life issues but I do know that as soon as I get settled in after my move that I will be getting one of your amazing snakes.
Haha this was excellent! I think a slot of those things happen no matter what industry you're in, unfortunately. I'm a dog trainer and people will HIRE me to help them and then argue that someone on RUclips does it differently. 🤦🏻♀️🤣 This was great, I hope you guys feel better, too, being able to let off some bad energy. 😊👍
Liked the antics in the background lol i agree with all your points especially #5, the entitlement towards other people's time is crazy, I see it all the time as a teacher. The live stream jungle gym is looking great!
I agree with the points. Unfortunately we are in a society that wants instant gratification. From a customer stand point when I got my super dwarves I was so excited I would tell anyone who would listen. I love my ROR family.
This is the first time I've seen one of your videos. I came here as a subscriber to Adam at WWR and his tongue-in-cheek rebuttal video to this one of yours. Watching this video made me subscribe to you, and I look forward to seeing many more of your vids (and snakes!) in the future. Happy New Year!
This was a great video thank you. I think you could make a skit video of good buyer Vs bad buyer interaction examples, you have good entertainment energy.
Agree %100. Thanks so much Garrett! I’ve been waiting for a SD baby for you for years now. Just waiting for the perfect time. We just bought a house so the possibility of me getting one soon is up there. I’m so excited!
All very good points. The one about the response times, and appropriate hours to call is very relevant to pretty much everyone these days. Some people expect everyone who wants to sell something, no matter if it's a business or just someone selling something on craigslist or Facebook, to be available whenever they want them to be. When it comes to businesses, a lot of people have forgotten (or in the case of younger people, have never known) the concept of normal business hours. I'm just old enough to remember when a lot of stores weren't even open on Sundays.
@@ReachOutReptiles There are a fair few of the "mom and pop" stores that aren't open on sundays still around here, too. But I'm talking about the big national chain stores. I remember when it was a big deal when K-Mart was going to start being open on Sundays. lol.
This isn't something either me or the breeder I bought my ball python from did, but it does sort of imply a lot about other buyers. I went to 2 reptile shows before I actually bought my BP to talk to breeders and ask for their feedback on husbandry and care. The day I bought my bp, before I finished the transaction, I talked to the breeder and asked if my enclosure and husbandry that I'd already set up sounded okay. Every single time, breeders commended me for doing my research and preparing ahead of time--which implies that most buyers don't! That's a little scary to think about, given how delicate some snakes or other reptiles can be, or how large some enclosures need to be! So I guess to buyers: don't impulse buy!
I mean if you are gonna hire for a night's and weekends I'll apply! I loved the video, several great points especially with the 'vote with your dollar' huge truth.
I can't say enough good things about you guy and your channel, recently got my first little super dwarf from you guys and he's amazing! GI Joe definitely deserve a raise after helping me! Keep up the great work you guys
I think there is a automated email for when you are out of office or shop. My kid talked about it for a company that was sending out mass emails and the automated emails were responding to these mass emails. Check it out. Loved your video.
Great advice - I clicked in on this going "oh man, I really hope I haven't done anything that will be on this list when I bought from you" and was glad that no - I didn't cross any lines ;). - Though the policy of not answering emails/etc nights and weekends is something I should probably take more to heart with my own self-owned business. (that my wife harps on me about).
I'm saving up and setting up an enclosure right now so that by the spring at Tinley Park I will be able to pick out a door free tick from you guys! My girlfriend and I live in Wisconsin and we absolutely love your projects!
I've met people from Pittsburgh. Like them all, fell in love with a lovely and beautiful brunette who is currently moving back to PA. Reaching out from NOLA.. Appreciate you!
The most annoying thing would certainly be not being able to buy from a breeder you really want to get a snake from because there's a pesky body of water between their and your location making it really difficult to get your dream-snake. ;P Wish you guys a peaceful holiday season.
Thanks! Great video. If retics were legal in Massachusetts I would buy a super dwarf from you in a second. Can't believe a snake smaller than a RTB is illegal here.
I seem to get that a lot, people asking tons of questions at expos and then you see them walking out with a purchase from someone else. And in inquiries on MM that wont respond after you answer them back the following day when their query came in the middle of the night.
Fabulous share! Recently I posted on FB about pharmacy ( I work at a specialty pharmacy). The tone and areas covered in my post were very similar to this. Please PALEZZZe folks do not expect the commercial breeder to give you every thing for free except the cost of animal - and then you go buy "lowest dollar". shit In my post about pharmacy and doctors, I suggested that I should give a lecture to our new docs that is titled " Just because you can, does not mean you should". I think that applies here !!!
I get number 4 and 5 all the time. I answer everyone who asks me questions but when it comes time to move some clutches everybody's already gotten theirs from someone else and they're asking me questions about it lol I tell you one thing I will never buy a super dwarf from anybody other than reach out reptiles. You guys are the only ones I would trust with percentages. Because someone can say they have a super dwarf when it's a baby but I've seen it happen so many times that snake ends up growing up too big for the buyer and it has to be rehomed.
Hi Garrett. If you need someone in another time zone with a heavy accent and a small knowledge (see what I did there?) about super dwarf retics you just have to reach out (I did it again). Happy Holidays from sunny South Africa.
Now, I like to mention things that I as a watcher and not as a buyer think of: 1) Those who think they know better than everybody else are arrogant ass-hats that are just stupid. 2) It you are buying an animal... buy what you will not regret buying (OK.... if you think you can possible regret buying something later don´t buy it! Just don´t! It could be house, car, clothes, pet, breeding stock... anything. It you think you could regret the buy... don´t buy. 3) I love your videos... And the information in them. 4) Even if somebody has (or can) vote for others by not buying off you... they can have been watching your videos on youtube and can even be a Patreon... There is always the next opportunity. 5) Remind us that you (and your staff members) are living breathing people and not characters in a show.
epic video dude, loved the topic and what you had to say! On a side note.... looked like Thomas was in the background sleeping at his desk while watching people play minecraft on youtube.....how do I get that job! LOL
I’m only saying this because you asked. From mine/customer perspective, I do appreciate good communication. It is not uncommon to spend at least $1500 on a pair of snakes, the hobby has gotten very expensive. It is nice to know the person you’re buying from has your back… Now of course I’m not saying that means an immediate response at 1am or something unreasonable. Also, there are breeders who I know I would buy snakes from forever, because they took time to answer questions after I purchased from them, and I know they don’t have to do that.
I think this is more than fair, and I too would want to be able to ask questions about the snake as much as I needed, for life! I think this is the number one benefit of forming a good relationship with your breeder at the time of purchase, VS buying from a shop or flipper.
People forget that for most of us, this isn't our job it's our hobby. Most work full-time jobs, then have kids a family plus a small zoo to tend to. The ones who do have it as a career don't want to deal with it after work.hours. they want to go home be with their family. You will get a response Monday morning.
I really like this video. Really wanna get a super dwarf some day, but wanna have a chat with somebody about the time/ space/ and money requirements for one before making a decision.
I don't know, I have seen plenty of "breeders" on morphmarket that talk big but have no idea what they're doing when it comes to caring for them, just mills for snakes and lizards. Sure you're a great breeder with true care for the animals but you're very rare in the industry man.
Haha sometimes it amazes me some of the things people are thinking , I watched thinking dah but again we are talking about humanity 🤣🤣. My wish list has a mochino super dwarf on it and It will only come from the reach out reptile family 🙌🙌👍
Y’all are so very NOT judge-y! I’m an impatient and paranoid person, but I give any email I send with questions a week before I follow up. I just anxiously suffer in silence.. 😂
How about what a lot of popular pattern designers (knit/crochet/sewing) do. They have an automatic response that says "Thank you for your question about the pattern you purchased"/"Thank you for the inquiry about the patterns and services we offer" followed by, someone will personally respond to you within 48/72 business hours. Our business hours are "xyz". If you can't wait that long, please see our FAQ or check out our forums "here" to see if your question has already been asked & answered. It's not weird in the US and Canada at least to expect longer hours for a retail business as well as weekend hours. But depending on the retail business, its also not weird to expect earlier hours or later hours or to be closed during some week days to offset the weekend. My local yarn shop used a similar response since they weren't open before noon during the week and were closed half day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So, if an email was sent Friday evening, a reasonable response could come Wednesday afternoon and still be "48 business hours". Just something to think about. People deal with insecurities and a lot of people deal with intrusive thoughts. That's not your problem, I know... but if something simple can be done to mitigate intrusive thoughts about how your business treats them... I think its worth doing.
I enjoyed this video. It showed me that what I’m doing as an owner and inquirer are the right thing. I will however be looking into getting a possible cross as I have a modest budget. Based on a past video, I saw that they are more in my price range. I do have a question, does picking an animal up from you help dictate cost since there’s no shipping involved? Hopefully that’s not an example of anything illegal, lol. Thanks.
I would love to be the ”over seas answering questions person”. I live in Finland. Don’t know THAT much about super dwarfs though (yet). More of a ball python girl 😀 I am very curious about SDs though!
I'm hoping my family took my not so subtle hints and got me a gift card for Christmas, but I promise I won't send messages Christmas morning! Lol Great advice for buyers😊
Hire me to answer the phones off work hours. I'll answer their questions and make it a game to see how long until they realize I'm talking about horses or ask when they can talk to you 🙃🤣
I think that idea might backfire unless the overseas employees are super dwarf owners/fans themselves prior to hire. You can train someone in all of the possible ways they can respond to only a very limited number of questions that you assume a customer may ask. Once they receive questions outside of that training or their own knowledge base, then you receive weekend questions from them instead of your customers which is against the point. Although if strong instructions for a 'what to do if the question can't be answered' protocol is taught alongside super dwarf knowledge then that may remedy the issue. Having the employee may help in customer retention for those who would be fine with working through out of hours service, but that's assuming that the accent isn't so bad that the English is inaudible. More than likely you will get the same level of frustration either way and it's way cheaper to set up an automated message stating your hours of operation and that you do NOT reply to inquiry outside of working hours.
Oh if I had the space and wasn’t allergic to their food… dead or not mice and rats try to kill me… I would happily wait for one of the guys to get back to me on buying one of their beautiful babies!
@@ReachOutReptiles I had thought about that but space is also an issue… I might go for a corn or something like that… I want to do what’s best for the animals and I don’t have a lot of space…
@@sillykitten1999 ROR also has house snakes; I don't know if they're selling them yet but if you're making plans for a future with a tiny noodley pal who acts a lot like a Retic, from great people, House snakes are pretty awesome.
You had a great idea about hiring someone with a thick accent that knows about super dwarfs to answer questions after hours. Find somebody who has a Filipino accent because they're really hard to understand sometimes. I don't mean any disrespect to anybody who is Filipino.
It is a bit frustrating when reptile breeders put up videos with a thumbnail of them holding a beautiful snake but then don't hold the beautiful snake in the video... :)
Re the customer who threw a fit when you didn’t answer on Friday. It’s probably better they went elsewhere. Imagine being tethered to them for years for support. Who knows. Maybe they were just super excited, but it sounds like a red flag.
You could turn yer phone off during Christmas dinner or not use yer personal number as a business number, just sayin 🤘happy festivus🤘🎄🎅🎄🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
i understand what u are saying about supporting the wrong places with your money, but bottom line is most people are going to buy from who ever has the best price unless they know for sure there is something wrong with the animal then they would stay away. If the best breeders had lower prices we would avoid this hole issue but then the breeders would say that they don't make enough money, it would be amazing to meet a breeder who just does it for there love of the animal and not to get rich and would sell at prices normal people can afford with out going broke. i know probably gonna be an on popular opinion but its how i feel. This is for all breeders not just in the reptile world cats dogs ect there all priced way to high any more its crazy.
Awesome video, with that being said, I am going to need a free super dwarf with 24/7 support. I think you should cover shipping. P.S make it a female please so I can breed her and under cut the living $@*T out of the market. Thanks!
i can't imagine the shit you deal with, and pretty much everything you said all comes down to having respect for you or the breeder if it's someone else.
I have more years of experience in both variety and timespan than the guy I buy my reptiles from. So idk about #1 being universally true. It may apply to your specific shop, but a lot of dumb people get into breeding who need to be educated.
Should I re-watch the video to answer each of your "5 things that..." hmm... 1. do not be a "know-it-all" even if you think you know everything there is to know about ... "whatever" not even though you "know" you are the acknowledged foremost authority in the world... 2. No knows everything there is to know... not even the moment he or she dies. Never expect others to break the law for you. Just do not. Be honest and follow the law, both where you live and where you are. It is just common sense and best policy. 3. Know what you want and can do as in following the laws... I for one, can not keep a reptile at all... No one is allowed to send me a reptile and I am not allowed to bring a reptile into the country I live in. Yes, there are no reptiles in my country at all. (Only birds that either - or both fly to here or hatch here) 4. Expectations from customers and would be customers later.... First you look into each "sale-offer" and you do what you can to find out how the "breeder" thinks about his animals and look after them. You also look at the prices the breeder wants for his animals and the animals the breeder has for sale. You look at every breeder and animal for sale... and if you "fall for a single animal" that is the animal you buy... regardless of who is selling. Being happy over the animal you buy is the most important thing. Do not buy an animal you will (possible) regret buying. And are you really buying a living breathing being even if that living being is not a human? I say no. No one can buy a living breathing being at all. What you do, is paying for the care the animal has gotten and the animals parents have gotten till now. It should be clear to every human on this planet that we do not own others... we decide to take care of them, feed them, house them, teach them, and respect them. Unfortunately too many humans think they have "the right" to control and "own" others... regardless to what others think... this is a pet peeve of mine... Two cats live at my house, I give them food and they give me company... I do not own them... nor are they my pets... I have responsibilities to them and others around me, because of them.... We as a species do need to think about this... we do not own the planet nor do we... (ok. I stop now) 5. If you are looking at many possible animals and have to choose one or two... pay the "breeder" who you trust most. it is just common sense. 6. Every other person has his or hers own live to life and can actually be busy. I know... how mad is that? Others think, others wonder, others look at things and come to a conclusion about the situation that can be totally different to the conclusion you reached! NO! No way! (Actually better to think... the conclusion others reach is more likely to be different that your conclusion than the same as yours. I´ll stop here and now.
I think the most annoying thing some breeders do on RUclips is the clickbait heading 🤦🏼♀️. It’s lying and completely misleading. I get it, how important views are but it just makes them untrustworthy to me.
Excellent advice for this industry and any independently owned and operated business. Do good.

12 seconds in, already love it.
Jokes on you, I know I'm gonna die alone
I don't know, I have seen plenty of "breeders" on morphmarket that talk big but have no idea what they're doing when it comes to caring for them, just mills for snakes and lizards. Sure you're a great breeder with true care for the animals but you're very rare in the industry man.
I see your point. Be wary who you work with!
Haha sometimes it amazes me some of the things people are thinking , I watched thinking dah but again we are talking about humanity 🤣🤣.
My wish list has a mochino super dwarf on it and It will only come from the reach out reptile family 🙌🙌👍
Ooooh, a man of good taste! On the Mochino, anyways. ;)
I'm about 40 minutes North of you guys and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. I just need to finish my reptile room first
You should stop by!
I’m sure I’ve driven my tortoise breeder up the wall!
Y’all are so very NOT judge-y! I’m an impatient and paranoid person, but I give any email I send with questions a week before I follow up. I just anxiously suffer in silence.. 😂
Haha, thank you! Hopefully you haven’t had to suffer on our account!
@@ReachOutReptiles haha certainly not. You guys reply lightning fast for how much work y’all do!
I try to push and make sure to do reviews for the people I work with that I really enjoy
That’s awesome, too, few people leave positive ones!
Great point- thanks!
Thanks.
It certainly does save on crazy shipping prices these days, and you are more than welcome to pick up in person! Thanks!
I use my snake as a therapist. She is a great listener.
They really are! Great cuddles too
@@ReachOutReptiles absolutely they are
I would love to be the ”over seas answering questions person”. I live in Finland. Don’t know THAT much about super dwarfs though (yet). More of a ball python girl 😀 I am very curious about SDs though!
You're in!
I'm hoping my family took my not so subtle hints and got me a gift card for Christmas, but I promise I won't send messages Christmas morning! Lol Great advice for buyers😊
I hope so too!
Excellent. I HOPE you're preaching to the choir, though! 😉
Garrett, Garrett, I really do want one of your snakes. I just don't have space in my apartment for a six-feet wide enclosure.
Someday! I believe that for you. :)
Hire me to answer the phones off work hours. I'll answer their questions and make it a game to see how long until they realize I'm talking about horses or ask when they can talk to you 🙃🤣
Haha, sounds like fun. :)
Good point, thank you!
I want the best looking snake for the least amount of money as I can get.
What if I brought my reptiles in Denmark at a shop and they don't help at all and you are the nearest and best helper
Oh if I had the space and wasn’t allergic to their food… dead or not mice and rats try to kill me… I would happily wait for one of the guys to get back to me on buying one of their beautiful babies!
Try Reptilinks for food! ❤
😈
can you post the email that made you post this video
Lol, it wasn’t one in particular. :)
💜💚🥰💚💜
How tf did RUclips get me here lol
Obviously, it was meant to be! Thanks for watching
It is a bit frustrating when reptile breeders put up videos with a thumbnail of them holding a beautiful snake but then don't hold the beautiful snake in the video... :)
Ohh, good call. Guilty as charged!! (She’s a Mochino Sunfire)
Bahahahaha. What is he watching
tell you about the most annoying things reptile breeders do eh? Bet.
Bring it! Callin you out!
Re the customer who threw a fit when you didn’t answer on Friday. It’s probably better they went elsewhere. Imagine being tethered to them for years for support.
Who knows. Maybe they were just super excited, but it sounds like a red flag.
You’re absolutely right. ;)
You could turn yer phone off during Christmas dinner or not use yer personal number as a business number, just sayin
🤘happy festivus🤘🎄🎅🎄🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
i understand what u are saying about supporting the wrong places with your money, but bottom line is most people are going to buy from who ever has the best price unless they know for sure there is something wrong with the animal then they would stay away.
Thanks!
Hahaha!
10-email guy sounds like he might have a personality disorder. I wouldn't take that too personally.
Had to get rid of my small collection about 10 plus years ago. I'm buying a house in the next year so I'm definitely buying a snake or two from you.
i can't imagine the shit you deal with, and pretty much everything you said all comes down to having respect for you or the breeder if it's someone else.
It comes with the territory, but overall we have a very wonderful customer base. Thanks Kyle!
Would you like some cheese with your whine?
Only if it’s the good stuff
I have more years of experience in both variety and timespan than the guy I buy my reptiles from. So idk about #1 being universally true. It may apply to your specific shop, but a lot of dumb people get into breeding who need to be educated.
Other than that, great video!
(Only birds that either - or both fly to here or hatch here)
4. (ok. I stop now)
