I want a romance series that shows two people ready to mature and progress to a couple. Instead we get treated to coxk tease dumbass protagonist and socially recluse girls with model like appearnce.

Personally I've hated the archetype of the Tsundere for so long for loud irritating and/or possible needlessly violent demeanor toward the characters around them for the long since I was a teenager I've enjoyed a variety of different genres, eras, and demographics of the medium and in that time they just get under my skin in a bad way. The only exceptions are Rukia Kuchiki (Bleach) who oddly enough while being a Tsundere herself has to is overshadowed by an irritating, short-tempered, arrogant, prick of a main character (Ichigo Kurosaki) that is more Tsundere than her, and all while being one of the only two good characters throughout the show the other being Chad. And lastly Caska (Berserk) for being absolutely justified in her attitude and actions directed at Guts; (the main character) throughout my time seeing the Story of Berserk unfold in the Golden Age Arc I empathized and understood the reasoning behind her actions unlike most other characters of this type. Thank so much for providing this excellent video as a topic of discussion I also felt the need to rant/vent. I look forward to more from you. :)
I never understood the appeal of the tsunderes as a constant mainstay of the anime medium. It... they're almost all the same and yes, they create the pacing and story problems you listed.
Would love a scene where a phone call stops the action but the MC is the real hero and throws the phone away. It breaking could even advance the plot and force the characters to meet in person more for more romance

Ugh words cannot explain, right?! The fucking blatant excuses made to take away ALL the development right when we're about to be delivered. It's all about their shitty choice of development. They'll quickly make things fall into place such that the show will practically be at the end of the romance - and then they crash it as if it never happened besides memory for future instances. Fucking teases man. No good reason. What they ought to do is keep the progression linear at much SMALLER increments of improvement, and on special occasion maybe sometimes a slight/key complication. The whole full-win to no-win ups & downs thing is fucking ridiculous. NHK was hell to go through w/ romance after the festival in the beginning, but I love how it ended later with them taking steps back to grow together. They just shouldn't have thrown the big win right in our eyes and so early - like sand - at least without further development. Gives me conniptions..

Have you watched Ore Monogatari, Momokuri or Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun? They are some recent-ish romance anime that didn't just piss me the fuck off with tsundere bs.
