  • Finally got her off the ground.
    This video covers the recent changes made to my 2001 Toyota Sequoia 4x4 build. I'm building this thing for OvErLaNdInG, and as my excitement grows with each mod, I'll be documenting and sharing it here.
    Big thanks to Josh ‪@1stgenoffroad‬ for sending me his last pair of Fox coilovers when everyone else was sold out for 6+ months, ‪@DobinsonsSuspension‬ for going above and beyond to help sort out an issue, and basically everyone involved whether it was providing insight, support, or just hounding me to get on with it (she may have sat for a few weeks.. or months..).
    Next mods include roof rack, RTT, comms and security/anti-theft. Aside from this series, I will also be sharing other various videos that I hope you'll enjoy. Thanks for watching!

    My girls rear has easy access! All metal handle… and lithium grease to keep reliable back and forth movement.

    Rear latch worked perfect until my dad broke it a week ago lol. I ordered an all metal one from 1autoshop, not amazon. Some people say even that brakes but if it goes another 15 years I'm fine with that. Definitely an install I don't care to do again xD

      Dang it Dad. From what I hear, this is the case with all of the replacement latches. Well if all else fails at least the rear window rolls down right 😂

    Beautiful shots. My rear hatch doesnt work either. Previous owner cut out the cable so that it is accessible from inside.

    Wasatch Moto Overland makes a bypass handle for the rear hatch a bit pricey. If your handy you can make one, I made one from some metal pipe strap in about an hour and a half today. Cool video!

    Roll back window down. Unhook the cable attached to rear handle and pull it. That'll open it. I rigged mine with a latch at the bottom of the door I can pull to open. Even after repairing it correctly it'll still go bad. Still locks and everything. Also if back window stops going down you just take the panel off and tighten the tensioner

    Great video! I have a 2004 Limited. I ordered an aftermarket latch off of Amazon but the overall frame for the latch wasn't fitting the best (poor casting work). I took the metal handle and associated latch piece out and made it work in the factory latch frame (now everything is metal). It's been working great for about a year now.

    • @artofoverland
      @artofoverland  Год назад +1

      Thank you! Nice, very interesting. From what I hear people are having to get creative on the fix. I'll be taking mine apart soon, I actually took it on a trail recently and all of the vibrations must have wiggled something into place because it randomly opened at one point after 😂

      @@artofoverland I'd recommend changing the rear hatch struts, if they are weak, when you fix the handle. I think a lot of handles break as owners don't notice the added effort to open the hatch as the struts wear out over time. Think Dwight with nickels in his phone :P - ruclips.net/video/2xbjNwgdidk/видео.html

    Are those Dobinsons a two inch lift?
    I see they offer a sequoia rear spring at 1.75
    C59-169 is a Land Cruiser coil. Surprised they fit. Truck looks good man.

    • @artofoverland
      @artofoverland  Год назад +1

      Thank you, and thanks for watching! You know what, I never measured the lift I got out of the springs. I think I was just too eager to get everything installed. The rear shocks are for land cruisers as well, came with a variety of bushings/hardware. I just grabbed what looked like the stock stuff and installed 🍻

    If you lubricate the lock the cable and mechanisms the handle works really easily.

    I haven't been able to open my rear hatch in the three years I've had it LOL that's going to change here in a couple of weeks I just spent $29,000 for a summit four-by-four company to put a total chaos long travel kit with King coilover shocks front and rear lockers front and rear upgraded gears three and a half inch lift 35 by 12.5 by 17 tires and a bunch of other stuff I cannot wait there already paid

    My rear hatch kept breaking, so we basically punched the control wire outside and now just yank right on the wire to open....

  • @Fatal_J92

    Man fuck that rear hatch lmao. On mine luckily the latch/handle has been swapped for the metal one. But mine is all jank when it comes to opening it. You gotta push in with the shoulder all while pulling the latch at the same time an then pull. Lol

      I actually took her on a light trail yesterday and I think all of the rattling set something right, because she opened again. Of course I was miles from home and unable to take the opportunity to vacuum up a bit lol
