I never looked at the fight against Red the way you did, and it got me thinking what other inspirational message are in the Pokémon games by battling. Now I know that I see in many ways that the Pokémon series are actually trying to show kindness to the world, instead of just being another game. And to think that some people think its for satanic messages, but the opposite.
i don't think shes that hard! u could get a drowzee to trade for muscle so easily and it levels up pretty fast. i so i don't think she that hard. im actually stuck on the next one 'morty' u don't have any clue he's a ghost type there all so strong im really stuck on him, espec with gengar hypnosis and haunters curse. GGGggrrrrr!!
Michael Myers wow... i beat him easy on a wedlocke in fact the only gym leader who managed to take down one of my pokemon was pryce who took down my furret who was the first pokemon i caught as well :(
THEY'RE TIED! (with my mw3 prank post from prankvsprank) whichever person gets a +1 on this will make it the most +1'd comment on mine. MAY 2ND AND STILL TIED
yes, it was easily the biggest shock to my brother when he played as a child, the final step before entering the pokemon league is actually team rocket's leader? That's one heckuva shock to my big bro
N is the best trainer I have ever faced in an in-game scenario. Never has a scripted character used a legendary pokemon to fight before, and he caught it himself!
This has to be the first top 10 video I completely agree with :D I was so excited to see N so high up in your list because he is hands down the best character in pokemon to this date. Also his battles were awesome.
Wow, this was a pretty deep list, I never thought of battle Red as fighting not just yourself, but what resulted from your past. Yu spent you childhood playing a catching 'em all in Kanto, and now you must face what your Child hood has become. It also helps due to the fact that red leaves forever after you battle him, it shows, Child hood won't last forever and you should enjoy your childhood to the fullest the same as we savoured the epci final battle with red.
The battle with Red was more like it's okay to grow up and carry a peace of your childhood with you.Considering the fact that you're older then when you played the first Pokemon game.
I certainly would have liked to see the final battle with Wally on here. The way that Wally just shows up throughout the game and presents no threat at all makes you expect an easy battle when he shows up at the end of victory road, leaving trainers in for a sure surprise when his team ends up as one of the most formidable rival teams to date. Great list!
I'm so happy that the battle with N was on here and I'm even more happy to see it got the 2 spot! I've loved N from the anime and the games and the battle with him was the most memorable for me.
Very well made and explained video. I never thought of some of the things you said about Red, very deep stuff. I'm glad I watched this. Also, you gotta love N, he is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Every time I encountered him I knew that he was a hero, and the ending made me very happy. And to top it off, the encounter with him in B&W 2 was very memorable, most of all when you go battle him after the league and he takes you around his castle. Highly emotional moments.
When you explained all the things each thing each trainer or the trainers pokemon represents i started to understand and respect the characters more especially silver and Red
The thing about Gen VI games is that, in a way, you are Gen I's Blue to your rival's Red. You do everything first and your rival is always one step behind. The only difference is, at least your character isn't a jerk!
Great video! Those were some really inspired choices, and you explained your reasons for them well. I also think that the Professor being the Champion would be a fantastic twist. A missed opportunity in X and Y, sadly.
I knew Red was going to be your top favorite. I really wish the ability to battle previous generation protagonists can return. Apparently in BW2 you were able to battle Hilbert and Hilda, the protagonists of BW1. But it didn't happen in the final game. The proof of this? There is unused dialogue for the PWT of the announcer announcing Hilbert and Hilda's entries to the stage. The heroes even talk, mentioning N as well before you were to battle them. Since it was mentioned that they went to look for N after BW1 ended, maybe they came back after giving up or managing to find N to enter the PWT to meet you?
See, this is why I want to battle Red. Everyone's always saying how powerful Red is and how intense the battle was, and I never managed to see for myself. I just wanna see how powerful he really is. Red, one day I will battle you, and one day I WILL BEAT YOU.
The battle against Red is among the most memorable, emotional and difficult of battles in any game I've ever played. Red is, in my opinion, The ultimate trainer and also the ultimate opponent. Single handedly defeats a criminal organization, smashes the elite four, collects all 150 pokemon and most importantly, he is the original character, you see it all the time now in other games (e.g.'s Skyrim: Dragonborn, World of Warcraft; Warlords of Draenor) where they sell it on 'fighting these first guys that began it all' which is always something of a thrill, but when that guy is/was YOU... well to me that first encounter was ineffably awesome from every angle.
I played it countless times... But I see nothing special. Just a normal battle against an Onix and a Geodude. The only 'hard' thing was the fact that you had an Electric Type, which is innefective. But you're supposed do CATCH Pokémon, so you may also have a Butterfree for now, which makes the battle really easy.
well when you first play it and u don't know all the weaknesses it's quite hard. i was like 6 or 7 when i first played it. i remember catching a nidoran and having it learn double kick. but it took a lot of trial and error. you probably played the game when u were older and knew your shit
Nikk CArroll Yeah yeah, you're right. I was around 10, and my brother played it with me, so it was kinda easy, hehe. Anyways, there's no trainer stronger than Youngster Joey, of course.
+Vykthor Knight I know this is like a VEEERRYYY delayed reply but just catch either Nidoran and train it to learn Double Kick. I got mine at the exit of Viridian Forest.
I agree with your list Red is indeed a nice surprise in G/S/C Game, When Mt Silver is unlocked, i thought that it serves only as where stronger Pokemon resides, and where Larvitar and Misdreavus can be found. In the deepest part I really surprise, indeed it is the most memorable battle of all
I really enjoyed your analysis on the battle with Red, making a super epic and nostalgic battle even better. P.S. Red would probably also be my favorite too.
Top 5 pokemon battles for me. 5,Ghetsis,first game I beat and it was a wake up call...I over leveled my Emboar. 4,Volkner,it's up to gen 4 hero to put Volkner,Sinnoh's strongest gym leader, back into his fighting sprit and not be so bummed out and doubting his role for the pokemon leauge. 3,Whitney,Need I say anything?... 2,Cress,First gym leader I beat and showed me (a bit) don't rely on your first pokemon for everything. 1,Lance,I was just glad to beat the rest of the Elite Four!!The battle with Lance in my soul silver gamecannon was long, hard, and I nearly lost. But in the end Storm (my 1st pokemon)went head on with Lance's Charizard and won.
I loved the battle against AZ, and the reverse battle in XY! You should do a list with no gym leaders / elite 4. Especially memorable for me are nugget bridge, the family in RSE, Youngster Joey!
you know what pisses me off? People in the GTS want legendaries for a normal female eevee. its only 1/8 of all eevees. Its hard but not worth a legendary...
I'm talking about pokemon X/Y. I have a female eevee, but before i had one i looked there and saw people listing them and putting under pokemon i want category: Zaptos, Articuno, Moltres, Yveltal, Xerneas, ect..
What's more annoying is actually those asking for a Pokemon which isn't possible of getting, like a Lvl 9 Lugia or Zekrom. They just pad out the search for those asking for a legit trade.
well a female evee in a lot of ways is better then most legendaries cause then you can breed and evolve all the evees plus (with a couple of exceptions) all the eveelutions have incredible stats and move pools i will take an espeon or umbreon over just about any legendary (cept lugia cause he is boss :3 )
wildefice1 You can use a ditto. All the evolutions of eevee have the same base stat total, and try and find a legendary with a lower base stat total than 525, which is what the evolutions have.
i think that the battle against AZ from x and y is also memorable he gives or no money and experian points, but the chance to fight somebody who is more than 3000 years old is about 3 feet tall and played an important role in the story to someone I find very memorable
My favourite is Clair, because she was the first gym leader who specialized in dragon-type Pokémon, and, after you defeat her, she refuses to hand over the Rising Badge, before you complete another task in Dragon's Den.
I personally would put Steven somewhat higher on this list simply because Steven unlike most of other champions was a involved older brother like figure. Like most champions he take part in the story, but not many was in-fact as much involved with your story as he was. Despite having a father figure like Norman in the game, Steven was pretty much the main source of wisdom throughout your adventure and the game ended well with him being your final challenge. Steven by far has the most defensive team among any Pokemon champion to date, and this is very fitting considering that your somewhat brotherly figure is also the insurmountable wall that you must overcome as a trainer, and against his defensive and well established team you must apply everything you've learned throughout your journey to defeat him. The fact that he gives you the extremely rare Beldum post game is a sign of his acceptance of you as a truly exceptional trainer.
Steven is highly underrated. Most people have no idea who he is, and simply dismiss him as "average," and literally everyone that _does_ know who he is withold all of their enthusiasm and place someone else higher on their list. Why?
Well in terms of Champions Steven fits under the middle ground. Blue and Lance get's supremacy because of rivalry and nostalgia of Dragonite spam, Cynthia because she is the first and possibly strongest female champion, N because well it's N (defeating Alder I do recognize N as a champion), Alder because in terms of age and influence he's the most fitting for that role. From personal experience Steven was the hardest and most troubling Champion I had to face because his team was both insanely defensive and well versatile in type coverages which at request forces you to be as equally versatile... if you didn't start out with Blaziken of course. Outside of that I think all the boss characters, gym leaders, and elite four members had one the most well thought out teams and strategy in Pokemon which all adds up to one big learning experience. Roxanne: easily the most defensive rock type gym leader, had cripplers like Rock Tomb and Thunder wave, and type advantage was almost just not enough without evolving the starters first. Brawly: His Makuhita was no joke, and having access to the insanely good Bulk Up that early in the game made him a problem without type advantage. Watson, Outside having his parafusion Magneton and his static induced Manetric, when he's not paralyzing you, his shock wave never misses. Flannery: Defensive Torkoal with Overheat, while holding a White herb, get some... Norman: Just be fortunate that toxic orb and flame orb was unavailable back then for him to spam Facade. His slaking were all kinds of scary already. Winnoa: Altaria with Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace, and Earthquake, get the heck out of here. Tate and Liza: All of my frustration and hate from that double battle. Wallace and Juan: Their team was had decent coverages, had confusion inducing STAB, and While Wallace had a Milotic with Marvel Scale, Recover, Aurora Beam, and water Pulse. Juan had a Chesto Berry Kingdra with Rest, Double team, Water pulse, and Ice Beam. Those experiences teaches you how to maximize your Pokemon's output through the use of mastering type coverages, items, and abilities. Though sadly this was all before the Phys//Special split came into effect.
You should've had the Youngster who loves shorts as a honourable mention :D And by the way the pokemon trainer AZ in X&Y has the same theme as Silver with learning to care about pokemon and maybe even humans. And an interesting thing about him is that he is the last battle before ending the game even though he isn't the champion.
I remember solving the Sabrina problem with either Fearow or Dugtrio...high speed and high attack, which meant a shot at attacking first and taking down her damned Kadabra before it could fire off a Psychic blast. Drill Peck was especially useful in Gen I games for this purpose.
Actually, I believe that the Balance Badge means that he's got a balance of everything his gym has to offer. All of the battle types, and all of the aspects of battling have been mastered and balanced. That is what Norman's badge is supposed to mean. (To Me) But hey, your version sounds pretty cool too. :)
I personally like the battle with Red but i think the battle against Iris was the best battle. She was my favorite character during the Black and White anime and is the daughter of DRAYDEN. My favorite Gen5 Gym leader.
I think he put Youngster Joey and Whitney's picture at the beginning of the video because they were also memorable battles (because Youngster Joey is the first player you battle other then your rival, and Whitney destroyed you seven times in a row...I remember actually crying for a few minutes because my Cyndaquil was my only Pokemon that I even trained at that point in the game, but it was weak to Rollout.) but he just didn't think they were good enough for top ten. But they did technically get an honorable mention. :D
I love fighting Steven Stone in the Emerald version. It's clear he isn't the champion anymore, and it never really say why. It could be Wallace beat him, or it could have been something else. However, fighting Steven was way harder than fighting Wallace.
for me N was probably the most memorable because it was technically the first game that i played well and not immature like and it has the best rival themes before during and after the fight plus he had and AMAZING story behind him, to bad i had to rush through it because my battery was about to die at the time :) i literally teared up a little when he flew away and was never saw again.
What how can you not mention LANCE!!! He was super hard in red/blue with all the hyper beam abuse in a time where hyper beam was an OP move. But other than that fantastic video and even better commentary! I think steven was my favorite elite four champion though.
agreed with cynthia and cyrus, cynthia is a great trainer and reminds me a lot about the platinum game (my fav. game). just like cyrus, who is also my fav. villain. reminds me a lot of platinum and giratina, how awesome it all was. and the story ofcourse.
I think, the way you express yourself is very very good and you mention Facts, that I have never thought about, but that are true. I like realy like your channel :)
This list would have suited me perfect if colress was on here cause I feel he revolutionized the music within pokemon, and if Iris was on here because she is the first champion of color. Over all excellent list MTU
Cynthia is by far the most kickass female on Pokemon, when i noticed she was the champion on Sinnoh and she had an extremely threatning team and i kept losing tons and tons of revives and hyper potions, will never make me forget that battle.
I think every players I've know will say Whitney and so doI. Damn she's hard! I really liked what you said about Red. It gave me a new picture of him now...
n is the best thing that could ever happen in the pokemon franchise, when it comes to the story line. I just hope he makes a reappearance in future games......
And another awesome video. Thanks dude I loved this one so much. :)
Whitney and her Miltank.
Im still stuck on that one.
i don't think shes that hard! u could get a drowzee to trade for muscle so easily and it levels up pretty fast. i so i don't think she that hard. im actually stuck on the next one 'morty' u don't have any clue he's a ghost type there all so strong im really stuck on him, espec with gengar hypnosis and haunters curse. WHERES YOUNGSTER JOEY
hes always there ALWAYS its not funny....... -.-
25 +1's? :D
THEY'RE TIED! (with my mw3 prank post from prankvsprank) whichever person gets a +1 on this will make it the most +1'd comment on mine. MAY 2ND AND STILL TIED
Actually, red's pokemon are all pokemon you receive or have to battle throughout the storyline of gen 1.
Top 10 Pokemon Trainer Battles
Top 10 Pokemon Trainer Battles
"Telling you it's ok to grow up" If only the genwunners got that message...
Finally man! You've been gone for a long while!
Another amazing video, MetroTech. Keep up the great work!
I would've put Giovanni on this list over Sabrina, it was a shock in Red/Blue to discover that he was secretly the 8th Gym Leader.
yes, it was easily the biggest shock to my brother when he played as a child, the final step before entering the pokemon league is actually team rocket's leader? That's one heckuva shock to my big bro
this video touched me a psychological way playing, watching and reading the series never did
"Balance between being your father and wanting you to succeed, and being your opponent and preventing you from succeeding."
My brain just gave up.
N is the best trainer I have ever faced in an in-game scenario. Never has a scripted character used a legendary pokemon to fight before, and he caught it himself!
I liked your emotional connection with the last battle :,)
I love your videos! Keep up the great work. The wait for it was worth it.
Top ten favorite pokemon maybe?
i don't know why but silver part and red made me cry.
This has to be the first top 10 video I completely agree with :D
I was so excited to see N so high up in your list because he is hands down the best character in pokemon to this date. Also his battles were awesome.
Wow, this was a pretty deep list, I never thought of battle Red as fighting not just yourself, but what resulted from your past. That was way deeper than what he said on the video, and his was deep....wow haha
The battle with Red was more like it's okay to grow up and carry a peace of your childhood with you.Considering the fact that you're older then when you played the first Pokemon game.
Nice video, I like how deep you go to explain why each battle is significant to you.
I love how the Pidgeot is called Twitter.
I'm so happy that the battle with N was on here and I'm even more happy to see it got the 2 spot! I've loved N from the anime and the games and the battle with him was the most memorable for me.
2:25 there is a reason why Norman couldn't be the normal type gym leader in Johto... It's because of Whit... Need I say more?
There's A Theory That States That Whitney Is The Players Sister
Very well made and explained video. I never thought of some of the things you said about Red, very deep stuff. I'm glad I watched this.
Also, you gotta love N, he is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Every time I encountered him I knew that he was a hero, and the ending made me very happy. The thing about Gen VI games is that, in a way, you are Gen I's Blue to your rival's Red. You do everything first and your rival is always one step behind. The only difference is, at least your character isn't a jerk!
Technically there are 2 battles with Blue, the one you mentioned, and you battle him as the 16th gym leader in Johto.
Have you even played red/firered/blue/leafgreen?
King Boo Yes I have, I own Blue, Yellow, and Leaf Green. Have you ever played Gold/Heartgold/Silver/Soulsilver/Crystal?
Yes and I actually wanted him to mention blue as a gym leader. but i dont see why it would be "Wrong."
Ok, I will edit my first comment :3
I hope you like my new comment.
Zipzapadam Thanks
I liked to battle Giovanni the most of all.
Turning a seeming 100% evil leader of criminals into a reborn Pokémon trainer sure felt good.
Very well thought out top ten, you sir deserve a like :)
I really enjoyed watching this video.... Interesting... But in a good way.... Thumbs up dude
i agree with you on number 5. cyrus was my favorite villain in the game and it was very challanging and enjoyable to battle him
Great video! Those were some really inspired choices, and you explained your reasons for them well.
I also think that the Professor being the Champion would be a fantastic twist. A missed opportunity in X and Y, sadly.
thank you for the video :)
another good thing about cynthia: her battle music is just awesome!
so philosophical! lol i loved it!!!
That was one of you're BEST videos keep up the good work my friend!
This is a very great video, it was actually very deep and I loved it..You should make more if you can!
One trainer I always fight in every game is that fisherman with 6 magikarp. He'll always be remembered as the most annoying opponent of the series.
I still think beating that cocky son of a bitch Blue is the most refreshing part of the game
I knew Red was going to be your top favorite.
I really wish the ability to battle previous generation protagonists can return. Apparently in BW2 you were able to battle Hilbert and Hilda, the protagonists of BW1. But it didn't happen in the final game.

"Leader Whitney send out miltank" omg the nightmare begins -_-'
"Champion Cynthia sends out garchomp" the nightmare continues.
PKMN TRAINER RED sent our PIKACHU this nightmare is not over yet
*out
+Jeremy Hayes my garchomp is slow cause its stupid brave nature lowers speed but raises attack but my garchomp hits super hard
+Jeremy Hayes my garchomp is slow cause its stupid brave nature lowers speed but raises attack but my garchomp hits super hard
i loved R/S/E miss those days as a child
See, this is why I want to battle Red. Everyone's always saying how powerful Red is and how intense the battle was, and I never managed to see for myself. I just wanna see how powerful he really is.
Red, one day I will battle you, and one day I WILL BEAT YOU.
Really enjoyed the episode :). Good job, i like the reasons for each trainer :)
really great video-i agree with the order of the battles completely!!
I like all the themes you found through each character :D
Always enjoy your videos due to the effort you put into them and the content in said videos. Keep up the good work I'm always exited to see more.
The battle against Red is among the most memorable, emotional and difficult of battles in any game I've ever played. Red is, in my opinion, The ultimate trainer and also the ultimate opponent. 7:25 Holy crap, I was almost in tears after that bit.
EDIT: At 9:26 as well.
my number one is Brock in pokemon yellow.... anyone who has played yellow will know..
I played it countless times... But I see nothing special. Just a normal battle against an Onix and a Geodude. The only 'hard' thing was the fact that you had an Electric Type, which is innefective. +Vykthor Knight I know this is like a VEEERRYYY delayed reply but just catch either Nidoran and train it to learn Double Kick. I got mine at the exit of Viridian Forest.
I agree with your list
Red is indeed a nice surprise in G/S/C Game, When Mt Silver is unlocked, i thought that it serves only as where stronger Pokemon resides, and where Larvitar and Misdreavus can be found. In the deepest part I really surprise, indeed it is the most memorable battle of all
What's the music from, from 4:38 to 5:45?
I really enjoyed your analysis on the battle with Red, making a super epic and nostalgic battle even better.
P.S. Red would probably also be my favorite too.
Great list! I'd personally switch a few around, but awesome video nonetheless!!
I love the outro song :)
Great vid, just hope you post more often man :(
I cried at your description of Red´s battle. The feels
Excellent relation with those battles. I like them very much ! Especially the Father,Silver and N.
😢😢😢 dude your are a true genuine pokemon hero and I'm am honored to be your subscriber
Dude your videos are incredible.
love N not just from deathnote but in pokemon as well still think light alsow be cool boss... or L
I loved the battle against AZ, and the reverse battle in XY!

DEEPEST POKEMON LINE EVER
i think that the battle against AZ from x and y is also memorable

I completely agree with this top ten. That was beautiful

very insightful look at pokemon. awesome video
One of your best video :)
I personally like the battle with Red but i think the battle against Iris was the best battle. She was my favorite character during the Black and White anime and is the daughter of DRAYDEN. My favorite Gen5 Gym leader.
Whitney should of got an honorable mention....
Damn, that last one was deep...
YOU FORGOT TWO MAIN THINGS -
1. Whitney and her Miltank
2. Youngster Joey and his top percentage ratata's
Great video. Very thoughtful and well done.
I recognize the first battle with N and which LP it came from. It came from PokemonJourneyHD's Black LP because he named his starter Tepig PUSHPIG
After listening to #1, the only thought to go through my mind was, "so i kicked my own ass?"
I love the battle against Red but I will always love that final battle with Silver the best :D
agreed with cynthia and cyrus, cynthia is a great trainer and reminds me a lot about the platinum game (my fav. game). just like cyrus, who is also my fav. villain. reminds me a lot of platinum and giratina, how awesome it all was. and the story ofcourse.
I think, the way you express yourself is very very good and you mention Facts, that I have never thought about, but that are true. I like realy like your channel :)
Sorry for the bad language >:(
olJ0J0lo Your English was perfect XD
This list would have suited me perfect if colress was on here cause I feel he revolutionized the music within pokemon, and if Iris was on here because she is the first champion of color. Over all excellent list MTU
Thank god a new video
this was such a good video thanks
what is the soundtrack in 1:30
Cynthia is by far the most kickass female on Pokemon, when i noticed she was the champion on Sinnoh and she had an extremely threatning team and i kept losing tons and tons of revives and hyper potions, will never make me forget that battle.
wow thats deep real deep when u talked about the number one spot like that
I think every players I've know will say Whitney and so doI. Damn she's hard! I really liked what you said about Red. It gave me a new picture of him now...
Loved the last 2, very touching in my part
this is a very well done video
n is the best thing that could ever happen in the pokemon franchise, when it comes to the story line. I just hope he makes a reappearance in future games......
