I imagine one thing to get myself started, and something completely different usually comes out of the drawing process. Also as I learn the in's and out's of using pencils and graphite to draw, I experiment with different methods for drawing lines and tones and shading and hatching. I learn different ways to make shapes and depth, things that are interesting to my eyes, and so each drawing makes me excited to start the next drawing with everything I just figured out.

Hey Peter, I know it's been a while but are you ever thinking of making more videos on peter peter peter or more of your podcast style videos? I'm a big fan of those long, mostly unedited types of videos if you ever feel like making those again. Hope you're doing well.
Hey Peter! I'm a pencil nerd and wanted to give you a list of the best to try out.
Blackwing. The audition pack.
Caran dache non photo blue.
Musgrave Tennessee reds. They're not red, red cedar. They smell amazing. Just no.2s though.
Prismacolor virithins. They're extra hard colored pencils and they layer up with sketchy lines like a dream.
Tombow mono.
Mitsubishi Hi-uni.
thanks for the recommendations! i used some mitsubishi hi-uni pencils in this video, for the harder leads (4H, 2H), and mostly cretacolor monoliths for the softer ones (HB, 2B, 4B)
Agreed about Blackwing - smooth as butter, no pressure needed.
What do you use the CD non photo blue for? Does it erase?
@@gardeniainbloom812 sketching. Yeah it's erasable but it leaves faint lines. It's good for sketching before inking because after ink, you can Photoshop all the non photo blue out and keep the crisp black lines. Back in the day, cameras and photocopiers couldn't see non photo blue, hence the name.
@@Andrewbud21 Thank you.
The Saga of the Lawn Mower was the best. You hit all the highlights: using a crappy mower, it breaks, trying to fix it, not worth it, new mower, salesmen upselling garbage warranties, etc., etc. Hilarious stuff Peter.
That said, I do like the sense of satisfaction I get after cutting my lawn in the summer, cleaning up and then sitting on my deck with a drink and some comic books to relax.
Another beautiful day in the neighborhood
Amazing new world you just created.
Love your art and your videos! They always make me so calm, and they really spark joy
Wow Peter your art gets so much depth from the pencils!
As much I like ur pen drawings these pencil drawings I'm liking even more.
This is a remarkable drawing! It has a real 1960's sci-fi book cover vibe.
PEEEEEETE!!!! I'm loving the pencil grind. More please.
I’ve never been so relaxed listening to a story about a lawn mower. Peter, your voice is magical and your drawings are some kind of wizardry. Just watched a really old plant review video, I hope those make a comeback one day, truly an uplifting treat😄🌿🌲🍃
I love listening to people rambling about random stuff that interests them or that happened to them, so it's a cool combination to have a channel that does that a lot together with art, which I'm also very interested in :D
Peter, I'm an older "returning" artist (I gave up art for 45 years to make my living as a professional chef) who really enjoys your format. Very calming and instructional. Keep it up!
Love how your pencil drawings are turning out!
Let’s all get this guy to a MILLION!!! Share,Share,Share… its been nice to see how you have adapted to the new medium. Looking forward to seeing more of your class work!!
Peter, i think you have found true love! The calling of the pencil is too strong to ignore ;-)
The mower story was very interesting and I loved the pencil art too
Oh Peter...you are just what I needed this day :) thank you so much for your calm voice full of average things.
Love this drawing Peter.
Thank you, Peter. This was exactly what I needed for my evening ❤️
Glad to see you using pencils
I love this direction!!
Only Peter could make lawnmowers relaxing. I love your work. I think you'll discover some pretty new work using pencils. I can't wait to see what's next. Btw... Best lawnmower I ever owned I paid $135 for over ten years ago. Started like a dream every time, even after a harsh Canadian winter.
I love the pencil videos so much! I aspire to be able to draw like you, and seeing you use a pencil like I usually do has pushed me to try and do the drawings I kept putting off cause ‘I wasn’t ready’. I used to think because you used pen I didn’t have to cause I wasn’t ‘at that level’, but really, a person could use a rock and create amazing art.
Thank you for your amazing art, I’ll keep practicing!
Didn't Peter turn a stick he found on a walk into a pen?
@@evilcritter proof you can make art with anything ^
Sounds like they're Mow-Tivated!
I truly adore you
I love your videos, they make me think about the little things
Yay another video, thank you for posting.😆
That reminds me of my Heavy Metal magazine days.
inspired by your work and effort LOVE FROM PAKISTAN😍
This is so beautiful!!!
Hullo Peter! I purchased a Briggs and Stratton Kmart mower and I used it for 11 years and the only thing that I ever had to “fix” was sharpen the blade twice in 11 years! It was not fancy by any means. It just worked, I did run it dry at the end of summer so I never left gas it it over the winter. I wish I had done that with the string trimmer we paid way to much for after we bought our house! Our back yard is just to large and rocky for a regular mower. I have enjoyed watching your videos you are always interesting and I hope you continue to enjoy creating videos and earning enough to make it worth your time and efforts! I am excited to receive one of your books I bought from Amazon! Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas and talents with us.
thanks! yeah i need to remember to run all the gas out of it at the end of the season
@@peter_draws Pss...buy a cut-off valve and run the mower until it stops at the end of the season, that will keep your carb clean from old fuel and just pour new gas in the tank again when spring comes along. $ 4.00 cost at the local parts-store. Cheers *
great content peter, it's inspirational
Hello Peter, first of all, i love your drawings, i love the style and the different techniques, i am absolutely envious if what you do hahaha, i used to draw a lot when i was younger, but somewhere along the line my creativity just flat lined, so yeah, its very nice to see you draw with all kinds of tools and such xoxo
post apocalyptic Peterverse !!!
drumming with them❤️🔥
This is beautiful!
My lawnmower is pretty old and rusty but it does the job and runs well.
I like the drawing a lot!
Totally rad Dude! 👀🤓👍
Hey Peter. Great picture. Love from Germany. ❤️
Siento que dibujas de una forma tan precisa e imprecisa al mismo tiempo que parece generado por ia, me encanta
Your waxing poetic about other things one could do with a pencil - start fires, stab (one can only assume) people - reminds me of a "BC" cartoon by Johnny Hart. In it, Wiley is writing a poem (this is roughly as i remember it) -
"The pen is mightier than the sword, they say;
It's used for scrolling and dipping and dabbing.
Though perfectly useless without any ink,
They're quite well adapted for stabbing."
This is the kind of illustration work that belongs on the cover of science fiction novels. Meaning, hopefully some publishers out there start contacting you for commissioned work
Amazing art
Pour the old gas on the pencil sculpture and have your own mini burning man weekend festival in your backyard! Invite a couple friends and tell them burgers are on you if one of them brings their lawnmower with them! Lol
So you’ve gotten me to think about my dads non functioning mower and confirmed my suspicions that it’s probably just old gas while also taking me to a strange cloud city and showed me how you do disconnected cast shadows (idk what you call those) which I’m not great at bc idk the math involved. Not to mention I now know ppl are eager to mow…and some wanna help those that are so much that they have a yard full of mowers. You’ve got a great mind and I enjoy how it expresses itself.
Very nice drawing! Like your pencil excursions! .. Perhaps you should lay the pencils in the old gas.. until they are soaked, then build sth and burn them.... (no you shouldn't .... ) 🤪
Great drawing, Peter.
Regarding disposing of old gasoline, try running a search for "hazardous waste disposal" in your area. :)
Having your lawn mowed for $25 is pretty great. They’ll likely do it even when you’re out of town. I’m also allergic to grass and it’s well worth the price to have someone else do it. I used to feel awful for several hours after mowing my lawn.
made em laugh really hard out loud as you said stab with them.
Great content, as usual, Peter! Mustache wax? Is a thing, though you don't often see handlebar mustaches, any more, or much, in the last hundred years. Would enjoy seeing an hour plus video, if you are so inclined, with more of that great Creative Commons music, as bg. I did hear, years ago, that gas left too long, can break down into the equivalent of kerosene. Maybe because of mixing with the water, condensing on, & dripping down, from the gas tank walls.
Pencils trigger my graphite or flight instinct.
which do you choose?
😄😄😄
Gotta see you try charcoal next Peter!
Old mowers seem to last forever
hi :) just wondering: is there any reason you ditched the little advertisement countdown in your vids? i thought that was really cool and the transparency is super refreshing! either way, keep on truckin Mr. Draws
the only reason is i’m lazy, it’s hard to explain the process for adding in that timer but you’ll notice there’s not a lot of special video editing effects in my videos, but i’ll try to start adding it again. if not, just keep in mind the sponsored segments are almost always about 60 seconds long if that helps
@@peter_draws if you are lazy i aspire to be lazy. it's ur world and we're all just livin in it, man! all the best.
Your local auto part store will take the gas.No questions asked.
👽❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥 Mad Skills
If you do burn some pencils, wear eye protection since the graphite will probably explode and splinter.
Saving you and anyone else from the panic and surprise I experienced the first time I burned a broken pencil.
Anyway, keep arting.
PETER, Again!
I suppose graphite would burn quite well, it's one of the forms of pure carbon after all. Even diamond burns...
Lovely drawing.
Have you ever considered making downloadable fonts?
Hey Peter I'm not sure if you saw my other comment but if you ever get into using a tablet or Wacom you could add it to your search of cool pens and make more pen reviews.
There are different pens you can buy plus nibs that you can change out.
Eh eh???
All warranties are a scam. They get really annoyed if, like me, you tell them you know it’s a scam. They do studies to see how long their product will last before needing repairs and the warranty covers only that period when the know nothing will go wrong. Terrific drawing.
Filter the old gas with coffee filters and reuse it. If the color isn't off and the gas is clear after filtering, it's fine. Otherwise disposal center or a car repair shop.
Are you familiar with Steven Zapata? he does amazing pencil drawings and youtube videos, some also abstract
Peter,
Shall you draw
For a drawing,
A two wing,
Bi airplane
Sometimes
Called spray plane,
With engine,
Showing,
If you want to,
?
Nothing lasts longer than a temporary fix.
To get rid of old gas, pour it into a wide mouth jar and let it sit out of the way in a shed or barn. Eventually it will evaporate.
It is a great drawing, and I noticed that there was no grass in it. I wonder why? 😉
That Home Depot guy was crazy. I bet the store manager was making them push that hard cause they don’t get commissions for warranties
If you left old gas in your mower and it stopped working it’s probably that the carburetor is just gunked up. I’d just spray the carburetor down with carburetor cleaner first and see if that would get it running again and if not get a carb rebuild kit for it. A rebuild kit is a lot cheaper than a new mower
Amazon basic pencils are pretty good to buy in bulk. Perfect to destroy but good quality for a basic HB
Bring the ad contdown clock back. I miss it.
sorry, it’s almost always about 60 seconds if that helps
❤️
Is the piece of paper under your hand just to prevent smudging? 🤔
yep, it works pretty good
I have an intellectual crush on this man. (BREAKING NEWS)
It's raining here,
Pencil Can be the answer for me
And pen

Drawings?
Dude your sponsor must be pissed after that 2 second promo😂
Haven’t seen Chris Bryson on here for a while, so
Hello there everyone, my name is 🅱️eter.
Use the old gas to light your pencil sculpture on fire. 😁
If you are having bad luck with mowers I definitely think the warranty is worth it.
Have you considered buying a goat?
a kind of Newton's Cenotaph there
Take the gas to an auto parts store.
Buy some Stabil while you’re there.
Check the oil level every time.
Buy new or have blades sharpened once a season.
Throw in a new spark plug once a year
That’s really all.
❤️🖖
Haha, I like how you did SQUARE SPACE in charcoal, bet your tongue was in your cheek the whole time. (I just came from watching and reading comments in your last video) Are there any mediums used for drawing that you dislike or heaven forbid, haven't even tried yet?
Guess I’m the only Space Engineers comment🧍♂️
Please don’t leave the pencil world
Get a fire pit and use the gas (a little each time) to start the fire. First make sure there are not any local rules or laws that keep you from have an outdoor fire in your yard.
$25 for lawn mowing is quite inexpensive. I have a small yard and it costs $55 to $60.
Put the old gas in your car. It will mix with the good stuff and it wont care
Класс
Escher-esque
uh oh you got a typo there peter! i think it should be You are not limited etc*
oh yeah thanks, i fixed it :)
Ooh, you can respool a casette tape with a pencil.
true!
Pencils are also useful, with a rubber band, for extracting cap inserts for fountain pens.
Also, if you play guitar, you're supposed to take a pencil and rub some of the graphite into the nut so the strings can move across it.
Limited.
Actually graphite is 100% carbon so once it starts burning it will actually burn, the same as wood 🤷
Under the right circumstances, you can actually burn diamond too :)
There's no lead inside pencils.
Beware the graphite ☠️
