    Wow finally understand High elbow thanks for the clarity. Previously I was trying to get the elbow elevated as I entered my hand over my ear this now actually makes sense thanks.

    Super well explained ! Thanks ! As well I like practicing front scull as warm up. It's good to develop feel for the water and it allows to place elbows in a high position

    I feel the on-land training will be very useful. I also feel that this is the most efficient and useful video

    It's so much easier to understand thanks to the land demonstration! Is there a difference in the area of tension when you do normal freestyle vs high elbow set? It could be used as an indicator to see if you're doing it right.

    Sir, I am confused for how to start before getting high elbow. Some people make it 'S' shape, and some straight. Which one is better ? I feel difficult to make S shape..

    • @DaveScott
      @DaveScott  5 лет назад

      Not sure if you saw my earlier post, Mahesh: Don't think of an "S" curve when setting your elbow. If you could put an eyeball on your palm, the eyeball would be looking straight back! Quite often an "S" stroke causes your pectoraiis to draw the arm inward under the body line. This is ineffective. You're better off pulling a bit wider in your pull pattern.

    Sir, request how to 2 beatkick freestyle. .thx. .

    • @DaveScott
      @DaveScott  6 лет назад +4

      Sony:
      Two beat is tough to Master. I recommend this technique to practice:
      1. Try lifting your heels to create a little turbulence on the surface. This can be done throughout your swims. Keeping your feet high, minimizing knee flexion will aid in your stability of the front end.
      2. Turn your toes inward and make sure your ankle is dorsi flexed. Try sitting down and maximizing your toe point. Lightly sitting on your feet / toes can add a static stretch to the muscles and tendons on top of your foot. Feel this position in the water.
      3. Practice freestyle with one fin. Start with a deep kick and over 100 m gradually reduce the depth of the kick. This will provide good feedback when you take it off. Obviously practice both sides.
      I hope this helps.

      @@DaveScott A great answer. I struggle with this myself. Probably one of my ankles is stiffer than the other (no matter how much stretching :/)

    Hello sir,
    Do you a solution for sinking legs ?

    • @DaveScott
      @DaveScott  6 лет назад +1

      Without seeing you swim, my first suggestion is for you to check your head position. If your head is too high, it'll cause your legs to drop. You can learn more about this -- and how to correct it -- by watching the first episode in this video series. Hope that helps...

      Dave Scott thank you for that tip but i already knew it. I think some people like me, maybe due to our bone density could not solve this problem. I have to Wear a neopren pants but it is forbiden in competition

      Upside Down Contract your glutes and hamstrings, try to swim downwards and try to kick with your feet on the surface of the water.

    • @DaveScott
      @DaveScott  6 лет назад +3

      Head down and try to feel the flow at low to mid forehead. Work on a light uplift with your kick rather than a thunderous down beat. Inflexibility in your ankles, hips and shoulders cause your legs to sink - so emphasis shallow, uplift to stabilize the front end. Okay. Dave

  • @davescott7253
    @davescott7253 6 лет назад +1

    Simon, always practice the single paddle and single fin or two paddles+ one fin or one fin and two paddles...... symmetry in swimming is key. Work on your funny side and try to feel the stroke mechanics with the "tools". You can always integrate fins and no paddles or a single fin. Keep concentrating and experimenting - you'll become more efficient and faster.
