I remember when the old hometown was a booming town! still have family and friends that live there.Love to visit, never want to live there ever again! Too many memories!
That didn't seem entirely clear. America has really cut down on smoking! LOTS of places that used to depend on tobacco are in bad shape now, I've visited some. I could be way off here, but I don't think anything gets as many dollars per acre as tobacco, it's a really high-value crop. I used to live near here, worked for VSU. Petersburg just seemed so ruined and vacant. Seemed like it had never quite recovered from the Civil War! Buildings in downtown had been vacant for over a hundred years, a few collapsed while I was there. Some of them had no interior! They were just big brick tubes.... I once read that they made something like four million cigarettes on a shift.... Have driven around with locals who remembered the streets being full of people out shopping and so on after shift changes... the factories were in the town... You could about get breakfast or coffee, and of course there was some drinking. Sad and forlorn place! Tried a few restaurants that were awful! Drinking seemed like the main thing that kept downtown barely alive.
I used lived there. I have some relatives are still living there. When they closed brown and williamson tobacco company town went down. Thank God fort lee is there. Enjoy the video

Should've shown Olde town, it's the only thing keeping petersburg decently occupied on the weekends due to all the restaurants
