One person is confirmed dead in floodwaters in north Queensland, with intense rainfall leading to "dangerous and life-threatening" conditions.
The woman died in Ingham, north of Townsville. One metre of rain has fallen in sodden catchments over the past 48 hours.
An emergency alert has been issued for Hinchinbrook, while the deadline for residents in six Townsville suburbs to evacuate has now passed.
