I would love to see these old structures- definitely on my to-do list. I’m surprised at how early the Jones trading post is. Good explore, Chris!
Down past the warehouse where the street turns to cobblestone is where they filmed TURN Washington's spies ~ actually all over old town they filmed.
LINCOLN movie was filmed there too
Great video and before pictures to associate with present day
A tornado damaged the carriage apartments and the trading post in early 1990s. So much to see in Petersburg. Beautiful buildings and historic sites galore. It would takes weeks to see it all
Love it!! You have a loud zoom! haha
I sure miss that feed and seed . It was one of the places my future husband took me on afternoon dates. They had fresh hot roasted peanuts , every animal feed possible , even monkey chow. It was old and wooden and it creaked with every step. Simpler times ! Great video.
Chris VA, this stone work is fantastic! Thank You! Oh yes, the coal shoots…the places we were told we you’ll be set to… that chimney reminds me of the old brewery chimneys in the Breweries… the belts were mechanical to help move stuff… the men loved desinpgning…the women too… Patents… and fortunes… Trading Posts and Places is where these ideas were shared… any yes, blazing Fires… my mama brought me home…and we watched a terrible fire burn right across our 86Th Street… I was only about 5 years old..about 1958 or 1960… my poor mama tried so hard… Thank you for this video of the great stone and brick work!
Chris…my mama worked on the Railroad! Golly…my mama and I had such fun riding on the Amtrak Line…we sang songs… she worked her way from California all the way to NYC! My mama came South…I’d meet her in Yemesee, S.C. And wish her home to Beaufort, S.C. Such fun we had! Thank you for this video of the “Train” toot-toot! Best regards, Nurse Jane …Deale, MD 20751
Excellent again! Daughters of… …Fabulous! Yes, the Warehouse and the four levels… Chris… on East 86Th Street…we had Brownstones… next to my Pre WWI… Apartment Building the exterior walls about 3-4 feet thick…we had an Old Printine Warehouse… we kids…were stupid enough to crawl around inside…that year was about 1960… We kids would stand with our mouths open… me I had zero idea… You just zoomed ahead and remembered everything! I’m so glad you gained a new Sponsor! Well done! God Bless you!
Very interesting, excellent drone footage!
David Dunlop, who built the tobacco warehouse, erected the life size pink marble statue of his deceased wife Kate in nearby Blandford Cemetery, one of the more famous monuments found there!!
They sound like a fun couple. lol
@@VATravels I did go back and check out your Blandford Cemetery video, and you do show the monument.
@@annmcgehee1728 Oh neat I’m gonna have to go back and look at it.
i love the vids. im writing a rock opera about this period anf fact checking my stuff....interesting i fond lloyds of london insurance used to cover fires and catastrophes in tis period. be interesting since they say there was an insurance claim to see the document and know the underwriters. lots of peculiar fires from these periods
