The Nikon 16-85mm Standard zoom lens is a very underrated lens. I bought mine new in 2013 with my Nikon D5200, and I now have it on my Nikon D7500. I always trust this lens to get sharp and focused photos, and it has been on all my holidays as a great all round lens to capture family moments. Sure, it isn't a f/1.8 or f/2.8 lens, but it gives really sharp images with great contrast and colour. I will probably never sell this lens!
Hi Jon. Great video. I brought a couple off second hand lenses for my canon. Been pretty pleased with them. Still using them still. Hope you all good. Shawn
Hi Shawn hope you're well, thanks for the kind comment. There's definitely some great bargains on the secondhand market for good quality. Lenses. I'll be out testing this lens over the Bank Holiday weekend. Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen
Hi, thank you for your detailed video. I wanted to ask is this better than 18-105 and 18-140 as compared to stabilization and other things except focal length?
Hi Jon. I just a D300s with a low shutter count and this lens for a total of £300. Absolute bargain in the current financial climate. The age of both is irrelevant its what you do with them, and this combination gets great results. Have a good start to your week. (08/07/24)
@colingerard7863 Hi Colin hope you're well and thanks for commenting, that's a bargain, the D300s with this lens is a great combination. Totally agree with your thoughts, age doesn't matter, you will get great results, I used this lens on my D300 during our recent holiday with great results. Best wishes stay safe Jon
Hi Jon, great insights on the gear 😁 i usually wait for promotions to buy some of my lenses brand new, but have done second hand a couple of times and no problems with it as long as the reseller seems reputable.
Hi, thanks for the kind comment to be honest this was the first secondhand lens that I've bought, I would only buy from a camera store then you get a warranty in this case 6 months and I've used this store for many years. Best wishes stay safe Jon
Hi Jon, hope you are both well, great overview of the lens, cant wait to see the photos from it, all my lenses are second hand, and old generations, I dont see the point of spending megga bucks on them when I dont make money from my photography, plus I have not had a bad second hand lens as of yet. Not sure if you knew this but you have your camera set up backwards, the Canon should be for photos and the Nikon should be in the bin 🤣(Shots Fired) but on a seriouse note, might be a good topic for the group, Canon Vs Nikon
Hi Keith hope you're well and thanks for commenting, testing very soon in fact less than 24 hrs from when this video went live. Totally agree new lenses are mega 💲💲💲 and there are some great deals to be had on the secondhand market. When I first started using digital cameras I nearly bought a Canon eos 350D but I also tried a nikon D70s which felt like a real camera (Returned fire😁) definitely a good topic for the group, also a question to ask what people are using. Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen
Glad you've been able to get some new lenses :)
Great ideas after this reviews - I'll looking for Nikkor 16-85mm DX for my Fujifilm S3 Pro, thank You!
Thanks for commenting, it's a great lens

Nikon 16-35 or 16-85 is betterb?
For me the 16-85 is more useful, but remember this lens is specifically for crop sensor (DX) cameras
