This looks like a challenge that would actually work pretty well for Pokemon TCG 2... Seeing as how you have options for all the "only [blah] type pokemon/energy" challenges, and all.
I think Water still lacks recoil options in TCG2 (unless that one Kingler that takes double damage after attacking counts), but I'm not completely sure off the top of my head. I guess you could technically count Articuno because of the possible bench damage it causes with Blizzard?
I think it's becoming inevitable for you to do a "win by deck out only" challenge at this point. Though I think that Fossil Moltres and Imposter Professor Oak are the only cards you can use that actually directly contribute to that strategy.
@@Christian-rn1ur That might help Paraspectre accept just how good Chansey is, at least. Jokes aside, framing it as a "no inflicting damage" run might still make it a challenge, at least against some opponents.
Man, I feel like out of all of the challenges you've done for this game, this one really showcases some of the AI quirks, especially the one where the AI will constantly draw cards until they eventually deck themselves out. Some of those battles and victories were ridiculous lol. I'm not surprised you struggled so much with Courtney though. I feel like out of all of the Grand Masters, she probably has the best deck.
28:13 made me double take because for a second I thought you meant the opponent literally surrendered the match. (Then I saw in the results he decked out)
The reason all of the fossil versions of the pokemon do enough damage to KO your pokemon even with a defender is because that was one of these strongest things to do with base set
I think the issue with Courtney is, because of the stacked deck High-Level NPCs have, and because of that, her usually having several energies from Moltres, she ends up preying on decks that need set up. Combine that with Fire's high damage and nothing resisting it, and she ends up being able to stamp out slower decks. I think in the future, if there's more than a handfull of mons, I would allow multiples of good ones, or maybe make yourself play a deck focused on one or two at a time, and rotate between them.
I remember playing the TCG on the gameboy as a kid, and finding out my Magnemite could survive its own explosion with a defender. Felt amazing to learn. I loved making my Magnemite blow itself up twice in a row.
Whaaaaaaaaaat!?!?! I CANNOT WAIT TO WATCH THIS! Your vids are amazing to watch after I get home from work (I work night shift) because your voice has a soothing, Bob Ross like cadence to it 🙂👍 I also rewatch after I wake up to see what I missed 🤘😎🤘
The challenge videos are still fun. Yeah it boils down to some opening draw luck, ai manipulation, bad luck at time, but your commentary helps bring it all together.
12:44 Predictions. The hardest part of this challenge is actually the multiple types. Too many, in fact. Getting Energy screwed is what will gnaw away at your sanity. Having your moves restricted, or even the fact that they damage you won't be the hard part.
Nice challenge. Well done! Your vids are getting better. Could have used some light BGM in the background. If it's within your capabilities, looking at the AI in this game could be really interesting. A lot of the opponent decisions are questionable but would be interesting to see the code in action.
To make the deck more consistent you should probably allow multiple copies of Pokémon in the deck and if that makes the challenge too easy you could make it so that you only defeat a trainer through one proper win (all prizes taken) or 2-3 cheese wins (self-deckout or no active Pokémon left). This grants more insight if the victory was due to the deck strategy working or the AI just being stupid again
Idea: Coin flip only moves. Anything with "x damage times the number of heads" (like Stone Barrage) or "if tails this attack does nothing" (like Fly). Essentially any moves that rely on heads flips to do damage. To add a bit of strategy, coin flip status moves are allowed, but _only_ if they're non-damaging.
Love to see a challenge video as always! I've recently started playing the pokemon tcg rom hack, neo recently and it's been really cool to play the same game with newer cards. Would you ever play a romhack?
Hey Paraspectre! I just wanted to tell you that I've been a fan of your channel for a little while but I really enjoy your TCG challenges! I think I've watched them all more than like a few times to be honest. Also did you know that Pokemon TCG is on the Switch now? I'm curious as to if you are going to utilize that for your challenges in any shape or form? I'm assuming no but it would be cool if you did a challenge on the Switch version.
@@ParaspectreI can understand that but it would be pretty cool to see indeed and I'm sure that you could come up with some interesting challenges using the Switch version if you ever do get access to it.
I feel like Arcanine is gonna crush this challenge 100 HP 30 Dmg to self is WAY too good. + u can combo with Defender to only take 10 plus a reduced 20 dmg on w/e attack u take next turn. I can't tell u how many times I've swept with just his 80 DMG Take Down attack. Let's see how paraspectre decides to play it. This should be interesting........... thx :)
This video features Oppenheimer vs. Ken. That is all. (It's not actually all. Given how the Legendary Cards never really get to see play, it might be interesting to do a challenge around them specifically, though I guess you would have to cheat them in)
It is kinda funny that in the context of the game, your ultimate goal is to get the legendary cards. And then they end up being useless for my challenges because it’s over by that point.
Random challenge ideas. A) Ditto challenge: not the card so probably a different name is needed. Start with a deck the game gives you and you can only use that deck, no changing it until you beat a gym leader. Then when you defeat one, any Pokemon you knock out must be added to your deck replacing any Pokemon you choose. Idea is that your deck is constantly changing and causing you to really modify. B) Nuzlocke challenge: start with a deck from the game. You have access to all the cards in the game. When you lose to a gym leader only, the Pokemon they knock out in a duel you must remove from your deck and replace with any that you wish. The idea is to see if you can make it through with any Pokemon left.
When I recently replayed the game with the rule of beating every opponent exactly once from a fresh file (so no farming of packs), Courtney was my only loss in the whole playthrough. I got a pretty nice budget haymaker deck going with full playsets of Hitmonchan and Scyther, but I never opened any Super Energy Removals or Item Finders and then also made the mistake to bring a build that can't do much about Moltres full of energy flipping for attacks that 1-shot all my mons.
I wonder if a Nuzlocke kinda challenge would be possible where if your fully defeated in a battle you have to kill all of the cards you were using (so they could no longer be used)
I'm imagining every single battle ending with that little plastic card table just exploding and leaving you and the club masters covered in cartoon soot as cards rain like confetti. Whether the confetti is celebratory or ironic depends on if you win. Then comes the 52 card pickup. Here is a challenge for you, randomly generated deck recipes. Have a chatbot randomly select 6 basic pokemon cards, and then add evolutions where applicable. Add the appropriate energies, then generate your trainer cards. If you lose to the club leader 3 times in a row, you can generate a new deck. For added challenge, you have to generate a new deck between clubs, and when you go to the endgame boss rush. If you play these on an emulator, I would recommend just starting with a cheat that gives you all the cards.
I… did not realize this. You’re absolutely correct. Explains why he never found any. But what it doesn’t explain is why the final grandmaster doesn’t even put fire energies in his deck. I know the idea is to use Charizard’s power but still… throw a few in there, my guy.
These are without a doubt my favorite of your videos. What a treat for me to see them! Excellent video and thank you for the upload :D Do you think it would be worth doing an "Alphabetical cards" challenge?
I feel like Scoop up could have helped, as a healing option. Getting Chansey, Zapdos or Electabuzz refreshed means more hits. Also you could deny some KOs to opponents with that.
I saw the title and thought "I did that a bunch of times! It's actually kinda fun!" until I remembered the deckbuilding rules for challenges on this channel - I'm not hardcore enough for that RNG fest😅 Personally, I prefer building functional decks around the premise of my challenges, so I really approve of Slowbro! It's the perfect fit for a regular build of a self-damage deck (say, an Arcanine Chansey deck like Fire Clubmaster one, but with Slowbro thrown in to heal them)
@@Paraspectre Oh yeah, for that, it makes total sense! I'm just the kinda guy who does his challenge runs in a way where regular party building still is possible, within the challenge rules. Like, I'd definitely spend the time to make a recoil only deck for every possible type just to pick apart the concept. But that's what made me like challenges at some point - the idea that you can tailor them to your own likes and still have, well, a challenge.
Hopefully you'll see this comment but I think for certain challenges that use certain cards you may as well just cheat in all the cards. Would save you a lot of time grinding for cards and you're only going to be using certain cards in the challenge anyway. So I wouldn't consider it cheating that gives you an unfair advantage in the challenge itself other than saving time.
Yeah I’ll probably eventually use a file that already has every card. Some ideas can only happen this way. I kinda like going through the process of obtaining them though, like with promo Jigglypuff here
I really gotta stop watching this at bed time lol there's been at least 4 full watches from me so far. It's been an awesome viewing though! This looks like it's been a nightmare to attempt 🤣

Thank you. As I said, pretty much any deck CAN win over time with trial and error, so I like coming up with themes rather than one Pokémon who will eventually win over time
My favorite deck in this game is the energy steal deck using like golduck and dragonair every attack drops their energy from their active pokemon so they never can attack
I’ve noticed you never seem to press the select button to sort your hand or deck when searching the deck. It makes it so much easier to find and select the cards you need!
@@Paraspectre glad you knew about it! I find the most use when using a card that searches my deck, seeing the deck in random order always short circuits my brain.
The "recoil moves only" stipulation seemed difficult enough already, but forcing yourself to use EXACTLY one copy if each Pokémon with a recoil move is borderline masochistic
I wonder if some sort of nuzlocke challenge could work. Like one expansion pack per area and you just kind of have to build a deck from there, and if the card is defeated, it dies.
Dog that's crazy I haven't heard of Into the AM since I was like 14. I think I bought a space hoodie and joggers from them and they looked good, ran a little amall though
I absolutely love these videos, but the "I win because they played kangaskan and I took advantage of the GB ai" gets old quick, you might want to consider adding a clause in these challenges to prevent that in the long run. At the VERY least you need a single run through with a "I lose if they deck out" clause. Still, just food for thought, I enjoyed this challenge a lot! 🎉
I mean… I’d rather not start over a match just because they play a Kangaskhan. I get what you’re saying though, because more often than not, it means an auto victory for me. But it’s not my fault that they don’t know how to use it 🤷🏻♂️
@@Paraspectre But you wouldn't have to reset if they play Kangaskan? Just knock it out! But, hey it's your channel and your videos, so it's ultimately your choice. Just as someone who binged your challenges recently, wanted to give you my honest opinion. It's just well known you can sit on the AI being stupid, it's honestly so bad it feels like they went out of their way to coded it to think as if decking out isn't a factor or something.
An extension of this idea could be that you can use pkmn that puts that same limitation on your opponent like sandshrew's sand attack and Magmar/horsea's smokescreen. To go along with fossil moltres's divebomb, etc. Since we know you love your sandy boys, and your favorite legendary moltres
Actually game codes states that the grand masters cheat they keep restarting their draw 7 cards until they get the hand they want and no they ignore the mulligan rule they shuffle and redraw NO MATTER WHAT so courtney isnt that good
In case misunderstood the mulligan is shown if they have no basic pokemon if they have a basic pokemon and don't like their hand they can shuffle the deck without the player knowing and redraw a new hand this includes moltres being only basic pokemon in hand only the grand masters get to do this
How about a run of Pkmn TCG2 using only Team Rocket "Dark" Pkmn and their basic forms(preferably ONLY the Team Rocket version of the basics), and only Team Rocket Trainer cards. Think about it... "Admin Paraspectre"
The individual battles might get samey, but if you focus more on the strategy and what works and what don't I think you'll make it interesting. I'd watch it at least
Love to see these challenges! I have a brutal idea for a challenge - 30 HP Pokémon only
I dunno, rattata and diglett are both really good. I bet it would be pretty straight forward
I thought of 30hp only. I might do it. Also only Pokémon under level 10

How about an all deck out run? You can use whoever you want but you can only win via decking out your opponent
This is actually my most requested challenge 😅 maybe some day
Do a challenge where you win by making all your opponents deck out
Maybe!
How about a run where you can only use Coin flip "or this attack does nohing" attacks?
Sounds awful. But maybe…
Nidoran male, Fossil Moltres, fossil Magmar, horsea, sandshrew, and I'll list more as I find them going through the cards right now
Cloyster (Clamp)
Farfetch'd (Leek slap)
I was rewatching 3 challenges of you yesterday and just now see your new video... stupid yt
Haha well I’m glad you’re enjoying them at least. I wish they would be shown to people more often ☺️
I asked your mom about the shirt and she said "Who are you?! What are you doing in my house?!" So I highly doubt you wear them that often
Hey, easy. People might read this and call me out…
I wonder where you came up with such a cool trainer name 🤔
2023 was a special year
Fossil evolution challenge
Actually game codes states that the grand masters cheat they keep restarting their draw 7 cards until they get the hand they want and no they ignore the mulligan rule they shuffle and redraw NO MATTER WHAT so courtney isnt that good
In case misunderstood the mulligan is shown if they have no basic pokemon if they have a basic pokemon and don't like their hand they can shuffle the deck without the player knowing and redraw a new hand this includes moltres being only basic pokemon in hand only the grand masters get to do this
Tey usin g the legendary cards only? Sounds easy? It really isnt
Character name?
🧐
OPPENHEIMER
🤣
I hurt myself today
How about a run of Pkmn TCG2 using only Team Rocket "Dark" Pkmn and their basic forms(preferably ONLY the Team Rocket version of the basics), and only Team Rocket Trainer cards. Think about it... "Admin Paraspectre"
There are a ton of Dark Pokémon, so I’d have to pick and choose. Could be done though
You will probably need your full choice of pkmn seeing as the team rocket trainer cards are mostly so bad/inconsistent.
You shouldn't have put _every_ mon (Highlander style) with recoil. Should have limited it to a more viable set with multiples.
I thought this would make it more of a challenge with variety. I think using four Electabuzz and Zapdos and Raichu would’ve been too easy
Can you beat the game with having every opponent deck themselves
I get asked this a lot. I feel like it would be boring, but maybe I’m wrong
The individual battles might get samey, but if you focus more on the strategy and what works and what don't I think you'll make it interesting. I'd watch it at least
Do you pronounce it Arcanine or Arcanine?
Arc-a-nine. Or is it viz-zees 😵💫
you kinda look like Mike Shinoda
Para-shaq? Or Shaq-spectre?
Please do a solo Dark primeape run/j, that sounds awful
