Enjoyed the fight. Reminds me of mine from this past Sunday. Shoulda won, but lost by one advantage point. First tourney and I learned so much. It was fun AH, too.

So a white belt heavyweight here. Do most heavyweights hesitate to pull guard compared to the smaller classes? When I roll with another big guy we've noticed which ever us is on top usually wins.

Truth. With heavy guys, most of the times the guy on top wins.
In the gym I usually start on the bottom to work open guard and guard retention. Plus, I don’t want to make a reputation of big guy who smashes small guys. In competition I fight for top position

You have two opportunities for koshi guruma! You are taller than him and more explosive! Good job though 👍

Thanks for the tip! I found a koshi guruma variation that should work well and put me in kesa getami. I will start drilling it

@@konstantinos-antoniosbme-m6472 my hips are usually much higher than opponent's, and throws typically don't work well for me. However, I feel like the second variation, he calls it sag headlock or sag koshi guruma, should work well

Better to try something then end in a pushing match

I just dont get all the fighting for grips over 6 minutes of stand up fighting for grips. I would rater pull guard and make something happen.

Typically, heavier guys are not as strong pound for pound as smaller guys and the game is usually slower, with fewer reversals. My chances of winning are much better from the top. At the end I had to do something and pulled guard because I was down a penalty point
