Thanks for the much detailed review, As an owner of this controller I have a few things to point out: 1. My dongle has the "Flysync" text printed on it. So its not exclusive to the Apex 3, perhaps just random. 2. Aliexpress delivery was quite fast, at least for me personally. Ordered mine for $58 (Shipping included) to UAE and it arrived in 5 days. Even though the ETA said 3 weeks. 3. The placement of the inner back buttons (M3/M4) are a pain in the ass. They feel very unnatural and uncomfortable to press, unlike the outer ones. 4. After each firmware update, you need to calibrate thumbsticks/gyro. But more importantly you have to calibrate the triggers as well when you do the thumbsticks (just press them fully a couple of times). The app mentions only calibrating the thumbsticks. If you dont you may face issues with the trigger button functions and hairpin/analog modes. 4. Battery level seems much higher than 8 hours, I have been playing on it for a couple of days without having to recharge. 5. I wish the battery level was shown in software, or as a Color of light on the RGB at the front as response to a command or a button combination.
I feel like I need to scream this from a mountain top, it honestly may be worth a pin. A USB extender, hub, or splitter will fix the connectivity issues this controller has with the dongle. I bought this controller a few months ago and for the most part it's been fantastic. However I started to notice that if I wasn't right next to the dongle (within 3 feet or so) I would lose connectivity randomly until I moved the controller back toward it. It was happening A LOT and driving me crazy (it even had me looking at other gamepads) until I came across the fix on another video. Any kind of USB extension, splitter, or hub will act as an antenna to amplify the signal of the dongle. I have not lost connection once since I started plugging the dongle in through a 8" USB splitter cable.
This controller is amazing! The accuracy of the sticks have probably gotten much more precise with revisions or updates or something, both my sticks are below 5% out of the box.
I got the One Piece version of this for a dedicated controller to use with my ROG Ally but it ended up just taking over everything. I have the dongle in my main rig/desktop and set the middle bluetooth option to the Ally so I can switch between the 2 on a dime. The Elite 2 does feel better in my hands but I enjoy the feel of the buttons and sticks of the Vader 3 so much more that my poor Elite's just been gathering dust. If the Vader 3 had an inverted option for it's gyro it would be absolutely perfect.
Got this a week ago thanks to this review and I have to say this is my favorite controller EVER! Works amazing feels amazing looks amazing !! Giving this a 9/10 only because I couldnt get the Dongle to work for me at all . Ended up just using bluetooth and it runs amazing! Also i wanted to copy you and get those same Blue Kontrol Freeks but they are out of stock everywhere :/ Other then that its a amazing controller. I ordered it on amazon at 11:55PM got here at 8:30AM the next morning with Prime shipping!

I have the zoro edition it is one of the best controller I've ever used. The feels and the response are great for daily use, the only downside for me is the software. Overall 9/10
Are you using the Flydigi SpaceStation 3.0+ software specifically for the Vader 3 Pro? I find the software to be quite nice and better than pretty much any other software for a controller I've used.
What is the joystick tension like? I'm looking for something with strong tension. Currently have a king Kong 2 and don't like how light the joysticks tension is
@@McVerdict Vader 3 Pro, or any hall effect controller really, doesn't have as good joystick tension. I suppose they are using lighter tension springs for whatever reason. The Terios Winkey is probably the most stiff Hall Effect controller I've used. It's decent, feels kinda cheap, but works well.

It seems almost as if flydigi is actually listening to complaints. On spaceship every single adjustment is now automatically saved. People complained about the black piano finish on the charger now it looks matte on the amazon page. Plus its a pretty nice controller to boot.
Got this controller about a month ago. Amazing for the price with hall effect sticks and the best trigger stops next to the elite series 2. The build quality could be better and I really wish it came with the charging dock but you got to buy that separately. Got it off temu for 80 to 90 bucks CAD, probably around 60 to 70 for USD. Definitely worth to take a look!
Make sure you used a virtual CC or any other means of payment, besides your *actual* CC/debit card number. TEMU out there selling card info on the black markets.

This review, along with a few others, helped sell me on this controller: got myself one, and now it's my main input device for Yakuza 0. Still getting some skill issues with Mr. Shakedown though, but some of that a controller probably isn't meant to fix overnight.
YOU FORGOT ~ Pushing Select & Start + UP-Dpad puts the controller into calibration mode. So you can recalibrate it on the fly. Pushing those buttons after you're done will bring it out of calibration mode! Love the videos! Best Utuber Alive! Cheers 🍻
Those two oddly angled rear buttons seem perfect for someone like me who mainly used a gamepad for racing games. I use my index finger on the analog triggers and my middle fingers rest exactly where those two rear buttons are.
For me default c and z are for comfortable if you get used to it. Because you can use those instead of clicking on the stick which sometimes may push the stick a little to the left or right
I recently received my Vader 3 Pro and I think my controller has a quality control issue. The face buttons feel kinda clicky but more “membrane-ish”. However the C and Z buttons on my controller are actually clicky. When you talked about the face buttons, they sound more clickier than mine and you also mentioned your C and Z buttons feel like membrane switches.
It's not a defect, just a different variety of switch, though I'm not sure if the ABXY cluster has a membrane or not but they do seem connected in some way. The only teardown I can find is by @modfix102 on here, it's towards the end of the video but they do show the front of the PCB and the tact switch variety, and in the back is the controller where the C and Z buttons are independent, but they don't dive deeper into the plastics where there's some kind of plate behind the ABXY cluster. Flydigi is somewhat notorious for mixing in different switches in different areas of the controller; I believe the Apex 2 review by Kevin had a similar complaint of its C and Z feeling different from ABXY, as well as the controller in general having an odd variety of switch types throughout its layout. I don't immediately recognize what's under the C and Z, but it's definitely a tactile switch of some variety, probably a softer or less clicky one.
It's my favourite controller out of many. So for the Nintendo Switch that button will take a screenshot. For Windows, hold ○ + A to switch to Dinput mode. Hold ○ + X to switch to Xinput. If you press ○ while in Dinput mode you can control the mouse with the gyro. In Bluetooth mode, hold ○ + Y to switch to Android mode. That seems to be all it does.
What’s the adapter delay or lag when using them on Xbox series x? I don’t want to use this controller with an adapter if it’s just going to cause a delay.
Update! Well ordered the Vader 3 Pro from Amazon Australia ( yes I'm Australian) had credit with them that Amazon USA wouldn't accept (had an Apex 4 Pro on order as Australia is yet to offer it. Then checked Ali Express and they offered the Apex 4 Pro for half the price Amazon were charging me... Damn 300.00 Ali Express $163.00 Australian. So now will have both.
Great review! Since price difference isn't gigantic, would you recommend the FLYDIGI Apex 3 in place of this? Looks better and the thing im mostly interested to is a very good dpad. But i remember it had higher input lag than this one.
The Apex 3 has the exact same D-pad, and it has a good stack of cons when compared to this one. It does look super shmexy, but if I were you, I'd stick with the Vader 3.

I think the C and Z buttons can be useful for people like me who prefer push to talk over voice activation on the mic in multiplayer games. I have foot pedals for this currently.
I really wanted to like the Vader 3 Pro, but couldn't get it to stay consistently connected. If I turned it off and tried to turn in on again later, it wouldn't reconnect. Also the D-Pad UP key didn't work on mine, and I didn't really need all the extra buttons, they just felt like they were in the way, particularly the C and Z buttons. I got it from Amazon btw, direct from Flydigi, not some sketchy vendor. But I definitely would have kept it if it would've stay connected. I probably just got a bad one which I've been reading a lot about, all these 3rd party controllers are subject to quality control issues. I wish Microsoft would just release a version of their standard series X|S controller, slap some high quality hall effect joysticks in there, maybe some gyro/motion control and charge $40-$50 more. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But that's not going to happen. Maybe the Gulikit King Kong 3 will tick all the boxes for me.
Bought partially on your review and may have an added path to play PS5 with it for you. Loving it so far but had to swap R1/R2 and L1/L2 as easier to use R2/L2 with my hands(feels a little small) The PSPlay app is a 3rd party app that allows use of any controller that connects to your streaming hardware; I use NVIDIA Shield. Only issue is it caps at 1080p but general has less lag than official PS Remote app
I don't know if the space station software had an update since you first got it, but I've got the C and Z buttons mapped to keyboard buttons through the software. No need for rewasd.
Side note: remapping the controller buttons to keyboard keys requires the software to run in the background. Revealing controller buttons to other controller buttons doesn't, though.
@@sirbaconbuster I tested this in discord the other day and it didn't need to. Pc freshly turned on, opened up a discord chat and pressed the face button and it typed the key I had programmed... Updated software? Updated controller?
Great review, I pretty much agree with most of what you said, just a couple notes as someone who's used this controller for about a month now: 1. Got a link for those specific kontrol freeks you used? I bought some PS5 kontrol freeks and they wouldn't stay on the thumbstick no matter how hard I tried 2. Flydigi seems to directly sell this controller via Temu. That's where I bought it for 65$. Doesn't seem to be in stock anymore but shipping was only a week and I don't have any QC issues. 3. You mention a couple times about using reWASD to bind C and Z to PC functions like volume control, but from my knowledge reWASD currently does not support the Vader 3 or 3 Pro. reWASD only sees the standard buttons on the controller, it doesn't see the paddles or the C/Z buttons. I do have a workaround that I use, see below. My work around for this is to have both the Flydigi software and the reWASD software open at the same time. Map the extra buttons to keyboard keys in the Flydigi software, and then map those keyboard keys in reWASD to whatever you want. Obv there's no reason to do this if you're just doing simple remaps, but it's helpful if youre trying to use all the reWASD specific features. The Flydigi software does warn you to not use reWASD however. There's one major bug where if the controller falls asleep while you have reWASD enabled then all controller support just breaks. Like even if I plug in a different controller my PC still won't recognize it. Only way to fix it I found so far is to just restart your PC. Probably something weird going on with that custom controller driver that gets installed when you set up the Flydigi software.
I bought the Vader 3 Pros but it had this annoying thing on PC where one of the extra face buttons kept taking screen shots even though I disabled the button.
I have been using Xbox elite controllers since day one of the release. I switched to this controller and I have to say, it’s pretty d*mm good. only issue is the software.
I can't get an official test on the battery life, 8 hours seems like the consistent hours I've been getting. *How* people are getting 40 hours out of this controller, I wish I knew. Maybe there's a proper way to turn it off?
alright now i am confused, because i got the one piece pro version and my xinput speed test always comes out to 2ms 500hz polling rate, this controller is weird.
i have this gamepad, little bit informatiin about connection modes, for xs = wireless adapter., for bluetooth = i can pair it with my pc, just press and hold the home and circle button (the one that is left side of home button) then it will detect as xinput. then NS mode = i can use it as nintendo pro controller when playing yuzu, same method with bluetooth mode, just press and hold the 2 buttons (home and circle) then it will detect as nintendo pro controller in pc. 😊

Não sei se é só no Vader 3 pro esse engasgo ou se é em todos gamepads da flydigi e tbm não sei se uma atualização poderia corrigir esee bug. On my second vader 3 pro and each of them have had either the L3 or R3 button crap out during the first session. Seems like i am in the minority here, but any similar issues by you?
Dont put the dead zone on zero!! This joysticks are known for not having a very good resting state so by default they set it to 3% wich is still very low, so, if you are having shaking camera problems just increase the dead zone, mine works perfectly as it came, 3% dead zone.
@antz9945 yes they dont feel as clicky as the X Y A b buttons (I believe those even have a mechanical switch) but thats expected, however they're far from feeling "bad to press". Its my first time using a controller with programmable buttons and I dont feel like going back to the "normal ones" tbh. One tip I actually use a lot is in the app for pc where you program those back buttons you can even assign the mouse buttons on those in the controller, that is such a nice feature! I can open games etc without even having to reach my keyboard and mouse. I got mine from bangood for like 48€ so if you can find this controler from around this price I say its 100% worth it, you will not find anything as good as this for less than 70$/€ or more, trust me I did a lot of research. Edit: just checked its on banggod rn for 57€ so if you dont mind spending a couple more than I did I say go for it or wait and search a little more maybe you could find it for
Be careful of FlyDigi's quality. I had Vader 2, and it was flimsy, I had it replaced three times, and by the last time the retailer told me the product was discontinued and they gave me a full refund (it's my retailer's policy, not FlyDigi's). With that money I got myself a Gamesir T4CP, and I could immediately notice the difference. And also, for Vader 2, RB and LB buttons are connected, like WTF? It felt absolutely horrible in my hands. And BTW, FlyDigi IS ABSOLUTELY NOT NO.1 in China, their Chinese website doesn't make such a claim, but their English version does, probably because their competitors won't really search for it in English so who cares what they say.

20:53 what is masked value exactly means for trigger vibration ? i tested that lower ( or zero ) actives trigger vibration in any range of the trigger , and higher values ( let say 127 and above ) make the trigger not vibrate if i press too hard( to the end). it is just a filter to cancel the trigger vibration when i passs a % of trigger range?

Ok, after like 7-8 weeks of using it, I`m back to my old 8bitdo ultimate. Those new versions of hall effect analogs, tho watery smooth, already have problems with centering, im on 10% deadzone and it`s getting worse.
This one have worse connection than the Vader 3? I wonder if the Vader 3 you tested back in August was a fluke? As in, you won the silicon lottery and got one with a super fast connection? Even the Apex 3 have terrible latency based on your testing. I need a super fast controller but I want the Xbox layout. Maybe I should just learn to adapt to the PlayStation layout again lol.

Mine disconnects randomly in dongle mode. Even if it's wired, if the switch is on dongle mode, it disconnects on occasion. No go for competitive. I have to play in Bluetooth mode or wired with BT switched on.
I tried it but sadly left thumbstick is not great calibrated. I need it for Trackmania and most of time it is steering by itself from 1-4%.. have to return it

Does the software let you bind the extra two front buttons and the back four triggers to combinations or just single presses? For example, clicking Z fires "Y+B".
I have that very controller, after just a few weeks and less than 20 hours total play it has stick drift , this is only the second controller I have ever owned that had stick drift , the other is a Nintendo pro controller.

You might want to adjust your deadzones in the software. I think the spring that returns the sticks to center isnt perfect, so just going up to 5 or 6 has me always at a resting value of 0.00000. You may need to go higher than that however.
@@ckBo3H9k1 Wasn't aware of that, thank you, but just for the record it is the left stick and possible as I have a quite sharp linear curve to get me to full stick at about 30% movement.

Pushing Select & Start + UP-Dpad puts the controller into calibration mode. So you can recalibrate it on the fly. Pushing those buttons after you're done will bring it out of calibration mode!

What do you mean recalibrate?
Those two oddly angled rear buttons seem perfect for someone like me who mainly used a gamepad for racing games. I use my index finger on the analog triggers and my middle fingers rest exactly where those two rear buttons are.
Using a converter like Wingman XE2 is there any way to use the Vader 3 Pro to play PS5 GAMES on PS5!? 🤔🤷
I got my Vader Pro via Temu for about $50. No issues so far.
For me default c and z are for comfortable if you get used to it. Because you can use those instead of clicking on the stick which sometimes may push the stick a little to the left or right
I recently received my Vader 3 Pro and I think my controller has a quality control issue. The face buttons feel kinda clicky but more “membrane-ish”. However the C and Z buttons on my controller are actually clicky. When you talked about the face buttons, they sound more clickier than mine and you also mentioned your C and Z buttons feel like membrane switches.
It's not a defect, just a different variety of switch, though I'm not sure if the ABXY cluster has a membrane or not but they do seem connected in some way. The only teardown I can find is by @modfix102 on here, it's towards the end of the video but they do show the front of the PCB and the tact switch variety, and in the back is the controller where the C and Z buttons are independent, but they don't dive deeper into the plastics where there's some kind of plate behind the ABXY cluster. Flydigi is somewhat notorious for mixing in different switches in different areas of the controller; I believe the Apex 2 review by Kevin had a similar complaint of its C and Z feeling different from ABXY, as well as the controller in general having an odd variety of switch types throughout its layout. I don't immediately recognize what's under the C and Z, but it's definitely a tactile switch of some variety, probably a softer or less clicky one.

So I finally got this controller for $46 on Aliexpress. Seems pretty solid. I wanted to ask what the button next to the home one does?
It's my favourite controller out of many. So for the Nintendo Switch that button will take a screenshot. For Windows, hold ○ + A to switch to Dinput mode. Hold ○ + X to switch to Xinput. If you press ○ while in Dinput mode you can control the mouse with the gyro. In Bluetooth mode, hold ○ + Y to switch to Android mode. That seems to be all it does.

Update! Well ordered the Vader 3 Pro from Amazon Australia ( yes I'm Australian) had credit with them that Amazon USA wouldn't accept (had an Apex 4 Pro on order as Australia is yet to offer it. Then checked Ali Express and they offered the Apex 4 Pro for half the price Amazon were charging me... Damn 300.00 Ali Express $163.00 Australian. So now will have both.
Great review! Since price difference isn't gigantic, would you recommend the FLYDIGI Apex 3 in place of this? Looks better and the thing im mostly interested to is a very good dpad. But i remember it had higher input lag than this one.
The Apex 3 has the exact same D-pad, and it has a good stack of cons when compared to this one. It does look super shmexy, but if I were you, I'd stick with the Vader 3.

I think the C and Z buttons can be useful for people like me who prefer push to talk over voice activation on the mic in multiplayer games. I have foot pedals for this currently.

yeah the FlyDigi Apex 4, watch his review on it (and the follow up) dropped a couple months ago.
I really wanted to like the Vader 3 Pro, but couldn't get it to stay consistently connected. If I turned it off and tried to turn in on again later, it wouldn't reconnect. Also the D-Pad UP key didn't work on mine, and I didn't really need all the extra buttons, they just felt like they were in the way, particularly the C and Z buttons. I got it from Amazon btw, direct from Flydigi, not some sketchy vendor. But I definitely would have kept it if it would've stay connected. I probably just got a bad one which I've been reading a lot about, all these 3rd party controllers are subject to quality control issues.
I wish Microsoft would just release a version of their standard series X|S controller, slap some high quality hall effect joysticks in there, maybe some gyro/motion control and charge $40-$50 more. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But that's not going to happen. Maybe the Gulikit King Kong 3 will tick all the boxes for me.

Bought partially on your review and may have an added path to play PS5 with it for you. Loving it so far but had to swap R1/R2 and L1/L2 as easier to use R2/L2 with my hands(feels a little small)
The PSPlay app is a 3rd party app that allows use of any controller that connects to your streaming hardware; I use NVIDIA Shield. Only issue is it caps at 1080p but general has less lag than official PS Remote app
I don't know if the space station software had an update since you first got it, but I've got the C and Z buttons mapped to keyboard buttons through the software. No need for rewasd.
Side note: remapping the controller buttons to keyboard keys requires the software to run in the background. Revealing controller buttons to other controller buttons doesn't, though.
@@sirbaconbuster I tested this in discord the other day and it didn't need to. Pc freshly turned on, opened up a discord chat and pressed the face button and it typed the key I had programmed... Updated software? Updated controller?
Incidentally it needs the software now. Maybe I was on older and it's now updated

Great review, I pretty much agree with most of what you said, just a couple notes as someone who's used this controller for about a month now:
1. Got a link for those specific kontrol freeks you used? I bought some PS5 kontrol freeks and they wouldn't stay on the thumbstick no matter how hard I tried
2. Flydigi seems to directly sell this controller via Temu. That's where I bought it for 65$. Doesn't seem to be in stock anymore but shipping was only a week and I don't have any QC issues.
3. You mention a couple times about using reWASD to bind C and Z to PC functions like volume control, but from my knowledge reWASD currently does not support the Vader 3 or 3 Pro. reWASD only sees the standard buttons on the controller, it doesn't see the paddles or the C/Z buttons. I do have a workaround that I use, see below.
My work around for this is to have both the Flydigi software and the reWASD software open at the same time. Map the extra buttons to keyboard keys in the Flydigi software, and then map those keyboard keys in reWASD to whatever you want. Obv there's no reason to do this if you're just doing simple remaps, but it's helpful if youre trying to use all the reWASD specific features. The Flydigi software does warn you to not use reWASD however. There's one major bug where if the controller falls asleep while you have reWASD enabled then all controller support just breaks. Like even if I plug in a different controller my PC still won't recognize it. Only way to fix it I found so far is to just restart your PC. Probably something weird going on with that custom controller driver that gets installed when you set up the Flydigi software.
I bought the Vader 3 Pros but it had this annoying thing on PC where one of the extra face buttons kept taking screen shots even though I disabled the button.

alright now i am confused, because i got the one piece pro version and my xinput speed test always comes out to 2ms 500hz polling rate, this controller is weird.
i have this gamepad, little bit informatiin about connection modes, for xs = wireless adapter., for bluetooth = i can pair it with my pc, just press and hold the home and circle button (the one that is left side of home button) then it will detect as xinput. then NS mode = i can use it as nintendo pro controller when playing yuzu, same method with bluetooth mode, just press and hold the 2 buttons (home and circle) then it will detect as nintendo pro controller in pc. 😊

Aí tive a ideia de minimizar todos botões do jogo e joguei lá no canto do mapa e criei um hud no flydigi só com o R pra testar mas continuou com o engasgo. Não sei se é só no Vader 3 pro esse engasgo ou se é em todos gamepads da flydigi e tbm não sei se uma atualização poderia corrigir esee bug. On my second vader 3 pro and each of them have had either the L3 or R3 button crap out during the first session. Seems like i am in the minority here, but any similar issues by you?
Dont put the dead zone on zero!! This joysticks are known for not having a very good resting state so by default they set it to 3% wich is still very low, so, if you are having shaking camera problems just increase the dead zone, mine works perfectly as it came, 3% dead zone.
any other tips or is that all? Also how are the paddles at the back, do they feel easy to press?
@antz9945 yes they dont feel as clicky as the X Y A b buttons (I believe those even have a mechanical switch) but thats expected, however they're far from feeling "bad to press". Its my first time using a controller with programmable buttons and I dont feel like going back to the "normal ones" tbh.
One tip I actually use a lot is in the app for pc where you program those back buttons you can even assign the mouse buttons on those in the controller, that is such a nice feature! I can open games etc without even having to reach my keyboard and mouse.
I got mine from bangood for like 48€ so if you can find this controler from around this price I say its 100% worth it, you will not find anything as good as this for less than 70$/€ or more, trust me I did a lot of research.
Edit: just checked its on banggod rn for 57€ so if you dont mind spending a couple more than I did I say go for it or wait and search a little more maybe you could find it for
Be careful of FlyDigi's quality. I had Vader 2, and it was flimsy, I had it replaced three times, and by the last time the retailer told me the product was discontinued and they gave me a full refund (it's my retailer's policy, not FlyDigi's). With that money I got myself a Gamesir T4CP, and I could immediately notice the difference. And also, for Vader 2, RB and LB buttons are connected, like WTF? It felt absolutely horrible in my hands. And BTW, FlyDigi IS ABSOLUTELY NOT NO.1 in China, their Chinese website doesn't make such a claim, but their English version does, probably because their competitors won't really search for it in English so who cares what they say.
The non-pro Vader 3 has the same issues as well, seems like they only mainly care about the Pro models which are really good tbf

i tested that lower ( or zero ) actives trigger vibration in any range of the trigger , and higher values ( let say 127 and above ) make the trigger not vibrate if i press too hard( to the end).
it is just a filter to cancel the trigger vibration when i passs a % of trigger range?

Ok, after like 7-8 weeks of using it, I`m back to my old 8bitdo ultimate. Those new versions of hall effect analogs, tho watery smooth, already have problems with centering, im on 10% deadzone and it`s getting worse.

Even the Apex 3 have terrible latency based on your testing. I need a super fast controller but I want the Xbox layout. Maybe I should just learn to adapt to the PlayStation layout again lol.

Mine disconnects randomly in dongle mode. Even if it's wired, if the switch is on dongle mode, it disconnects on occasion. No go for competitive. I have to play in Bluetooth mode or wired with BT switched on.

Does the software let you bind the extra two front buttons and the back four triggers to combinations or just single presses? For example, clicking Z fires "Y+B".

I have that very controller, after just a few weeks and less than 20 hours total play it has stick drift , this is only the second controller I have ever owned that had stick drift , the other is a Nintendo pro controller.

You might want to adjust your deadzones in the software. I think the spring that returns the sticks to center isnt perfect, so just going up to 5 or 6 has me always at a resting value of 0.00000. You may need to go higher than that however.
@@ckBo3H9k1 Wasn't aware of that, thank you, but just for the record it is the left stick and possible as I have a quite sharp linear curve to get me to full stick at about 30% movement.
@@svelvet119 Can't do dead zone adjustments I have never been able to deal with deadzone on any controller and always reduce it to nothing, where possible. it shouldn'tdrift :-)
