Here in North Bergen (his hometown) we have a park named after him that you could kind of compare to a mini Central Park. It’s fairly big, runs about 20 blocks wide with a nice lake in the middle. I often visit his statue there during times of strife.

Great piece on Jim braddock and some of the most special traits that I will always remember about the New Jersey bulldog was that he was a tough durable fighter and 1of the most game and determined fighters that the boxing game has ever seen!👌🏾. The Cinderella Man 🎞📽🎬was a phenomenal picture as well and they had the right actors playing the roles. And Russell Crowe did a magnificent job of playing as jim jj braddock 👍🏾💯. The jim braddock story is definitely an inspirational story for all people of all ages and the example that jim had set for the world to see was that no matter how low you may be in life or how many times life may knock you down, there's always a chance for you to get back up and defeat the odds and reach your full potential in life as long as you believe in your self and you continue to keep pushing forward 👉🏾🥊🥊💯 keep up the great work Rich👍🏾📽🙂💯

This was a beautiful doc Rich. I didn't know half of the interesting info you provided about Braddock. I'm going to have to go watch the movie now since I've never seen it. Which is crazy cause I'm a big Crowe fan. But Rich, you have a gift bro. I swear I wish HBO was in it's boxing heyday - because you'd be part of the squad - and rightfully so. And I went to school in that NY "suburb" of Mt. Vernon - if it ever had been - it wasn't by the time we got there lol, though it was still a nice neighborhood I must say. I just find it hard to believe it ever hosted fights - unless it was at my old school of Mount Saint Michael Academy - where a lot of the NY Golden Gloves fights were held in the 90s. EDIT - and Max Baer should be more remembered among boxing fans in general - dude had some of the wildest ko's in boxing history at a time when that's what the HW division was all about. And the guy was a true character who just didn't give an F.

Unfortunately, had it not been for the Hollywood movie, a lot of younger folks wouldn't know anything about Braddock or Baer. But, it's too bad that they portrayed Baer as such a heartless villain. He was actually a good dude, they both were. I live boxing but the corruption has always been there. Still to this day, although not as much as a couple decades ago, when it was at its worst.
