I have a 2004 SC 430 I bought in ‘16 with 60k miles. I have 180k miles now. I do meticulously maintenance. Replaced timing belt at 100k. Replaced valve cover gaskets at 165k. Replaced suspension with all Lexus OEM at 170k. Replaced radiator at 175k. It is a joy to drive, tight and quiet as new, and super reliable
I agree with his sentiments completely. I was an extremely happy owner of a classic 1992 SC400 and now drive a 2003 SC430 as my daily driver. Of these two wonderful cars, the SC430 is the most enjoyable, while both were very reliable & fun to drive.
My SC430 story… When I was 12 years old I accompanied my grandfather to Hennessy Lexus of Atlanta to take delivery of his new 2006 LS430. While he was doing the paperwork I was par-oozing the showroom. When he had finished the paperwork he walked over to find me sitting in a Palm Beach edition SC430. He asked me which of the cars I liked best and I said “This one!” He told me if I got straight A’s between that time and the time I turned 16 he would buy me one. He passed before I turned 16 but guess what….I got straight A’s whereas before I had been a B student. Maybe I’ll have one yet one of these days.
What a great story😊 I'm sorry for your loss Your grandad seems like a really cool guy My mom made a deal with me that if I got strait A's from middle school on and GRADUATED with straight A's that I would get my delorean
Nice story! Similarly, at 16 my mom thought I drove far too aggressively. She said if I didn't get a ticket or accident for the whole year, she'd give me $100. I was 38 years old when I finally got pulled over for speeding. I received a warning but still told her. These gestures made at a young age can definitely have some lasting impact.
I just purchased a 2004 sc430 back in December. I love it, not only because it’s a convertible but it has the LS 430 engine. Ahmed THANKS for these videos you put out!
Great Review! I'm the original owner of a 2004 SC 430. She's been Lexus dealer maintained since I bought her new. She's got about 68k on the clock with no squeaks or rattles. She drives beautifully, and she definitely gets attention. I've had many other cars in my life, but when I retired and moved to Palm Springs California, it was the SC that I kept. She's a perfect Palm Springs convertible. Some call her a baby Bentley. I have a hankering to buy a GX 460 like what the Car Care Nut has and put the SC into storage. But when I only drive about 70 miles a month, it doesn't make sense to buy one. Yet, I'm still thinking about it--you only live once. Keep an SC maintained with a TB every 9 years or 90k miles and do the regular maintenance and she'll keep a smile on your face for a very long time. Again, Great Video! 😀
The SC430 is the dream car I’ve always wanted to own. The major problem I’ve always had was looking for one that wasn’t mistreated to hell. I’d look at used cars and see it’s been through 4-7 owners and had things custom installed that aren’t necessary 🤦♂️
I owned one and sold it during the pandemic. Had it's problems. Terrible to work on. Loud and noisy. Still, people look at it and have no idea what it is. There's definitely a cool factor to it. Can't say I would ever say it's a pretty car, but it's not an ugly car. Holy hell do you feel it's weight.
I swear the drift and/or stance community has ruined old Lexus. At least in Florida where I live, finding a stock Lexus is impossible unless you go to a retirement home. But the marketplace is full of slammed and drifted Lexus but still asking crazy prices. At least the SC430 isn't as abused as the SC300/400 so i wish you luck! Honestly, old neighbors or retirement homes are a great place to start, most times they are well taken care of.
I found one that had been taken to the Lexus dealer every 5000 miles. Owned by a gentleman who was about 60 when he got it and is in his 80s now. It did need valve cover gaskets replaced, seats have a few tears, but he’s already done so many things for this car over the years. 220,000 miles. I’m very happy at $6000. Engine is amazing. Handles well, smooth as can be on the highway (yes there’s a tiny bit of wind noise). You will spend some money on gas with the V8 taking premium.
@@sethtenrec You sir, are so fortunate to find that beauty. Back when I was in my 20’s I wasn’t in a position to own the 430. Now that I’m 38 and can afford it, theres almost no decent ones left. 😭 I’ve always been taught by my father “Buying a car, doesn’t mean you OWN the car”. So I’ve always waited until I’m financially sound, before I make any crucial decisions. I wish you the best with your incredible find 👍 Hopefully I’ll get my hands on one too 💪
This summer (24) we bought an 05 SC430 in midnight pine with 70000 miles. It is absolutely amazing. It’s SO smooth. The power mode will change the shift timing of the transmission, basically quicker downshifts. I always have it on. I spend near 2 hours a day driving in it.. it’s lux.. it’s a concert hall on wheels. I love how it’s truly 2 different car, coupe and convertible, with no compromise. I feel like a million bucks in it. Nice video, reinforces my good decisions
I Have a 92 Sc400 I’m currently rebuilding. I’ve had it since 2016 & I will never EVER get rid of it. Absolutely in love with this car, thanks for finally showing it some love.
Thanks for this review! Last year I parted ways with a Mercedes 280SL euro. I drove it for about 20 years. Had a challenge finding a mechanic to work on it so I sold it to a friend who always admired it, and has the skill to service it himself. I wanted another convertible, but not a German one so I was ecstatic to find a 2005 SC430 with 35,000 miles. I no longer lose sleep thinking about finding a mechanic to work on it because it’s a Toyota and my local independent garage will care for it well. I replaced the timing belt (Still original) and just got an apple car play sound system which is awesome! I’m 68 and expect the car will outlast me. :-)
The original SC was over 20 years ahead of the competition. 98-00 are the years to buy. Coil on plug ignition, oil control valve timing, switch to simple Bosch ABS system, and they did away with the tons of vacuum lines in the earlier models of the UZ and JZ engines. The lower control arms are crazy expensive on them. The ball joints are not replaceable. The JZ engine is a breeze to work on. 92-98 12 disc changer is also very prone to failure. 99-00 got bigger brakes, a better 6 disc cd changer, and perforated leather seats, etc. I had a 98 and 99…loved them both. The SC430 is a great cruiser. I test drove a 2008 but did not buy it because it did not meet my expectations as to how special and unique it would be to drive. The dashboard is kind of ugly and cobbled together whereas the original SC had a superb dash design. Also for a flagship model for Lexus at the time, for the money it should have had smart keys, parking sensors, and a backup camera standard. They also did not offer Bluetooth audio until the final 2012 model year. The car felt very slow compared to my 05 LS430 when I expected it to be a bit faster. I have been on the hunt for a 99-00 SC400 black on black with under 90K mikes for years now. They were selling for as little as $12K around 10 years ago. Nice 98+ SC300s were less than $8K. A Lexus dealer in my area sold a 2006+ SC430 with the facelift and 6 speed transmission for only $14K with 92K miles in the rare tiger eye bronze color back in 2016. Timing is everything. Prices are probably not going to fall for both generations. Nice ones now start at $10k and $22K for the first and second gen, respectively.
Ahmed, I was telling my son this past Sunday about your channel because he was telling me that he met an Iraqi couple who worked with his girlfriend who is a dentist in Washington. I live in Houston but have a sister in Chicago and have been waiting for an opportunity to be the first SC430 on your channel but I lost out! However, this is a great first SC video! I bought my 2004 SC430 in 2021 from the original owner with 221k miles who serviced the vehicle at the Lexus dealership every 5,000 miles. You are spot on regarding the people who have owned these cars and how special these cars truly are. My SC430 is my daily driver and now has 244k miles and I plan to to keep it until it has at least 310k (500k km). I try to do as much of the maintenance myself and I made the mistake of replacing the front struts with the KYB aftermarket despite the original shocks being just fine. I also have replaced the radiator, vacuum lines, lower control arm #2's, power door lock actuators, power steering hoses along with performing all the required maintenance. Your videos have been a valuable resource for me!
Owned an SC430, did the 80k timing belt + tensioner + plug work myself. Installed a backup camera too because there's no visibility in that car. The doors have 2 points they open, and being so heavy, you have to worry about parking in tight spots. Interesting car to have owned and I'm grateful for the experience. Happy to answer questions for people who are interested in getting one.
@@timrietbergen mines high speed. Had it for a year and balanced tons of times. Just had it aligned and asked them to toe the front in as much as they can while being in spec and it fixed it
I'm smiling from ear to ear just like TooBrokeToWheel. The SC430 in this video is mine. I'm so glad to have Ahmed going through this car. He is the TRUE GEM. It is such a great feeling knowing I can trust his work, recommendations, and opinions 100%. This is a Florida car and while it's not rusty, it does have sun damage. In addition to the mechanical repairs and maintenance, we will be replacing the sun faded woodwork and steering wheel. Plus if it works out, Jason will be doing detail and paint correction work. I can't wait to see how it all turns out!
I had a 2006 SC430 in Pearl White. I have owned 49 cars in my life (I'm 62), and this has been my favorite. I only sold it because we moved to Panama to retire.
I owned a Toyota soarer 2.5 twin turbo. It was a truly incredible car. I kept it for over ten years, used it daily. Always serviced on time. Never let me down, not even once. But trying to find a good one now is almost impossible. Loved that car... john in the uk. Yes it came from Japan.
AMD, My 'future classic' candidate from Lexus is the IS SportCross wagon. It even had the fabulous fold-forward front passenger seat made famous by the Matrix. 🤩🤩 I was hoping David would drive his Lexus SC 430 down to your shop for a detailed inspection. 😁
Just picked up an SC430 from an older grandmother. Crazy how smooth it is. Most amazing thing is that you can add carplay & android auto + a rear view camera to it working with the OEM touch screen. And this was in 2004! Same connectivity as a new car, just missing some cruise control & emergency braking features.
@@christoph_with_ch_and_ph lot of solutions, i went with Naviks, their module preserves og look & is "plug and play" but doing so requires ripping out a lot of covers, and disassembling certain trim parts for connecting wires. Uses OEM touch screen & enables wireless/wired carplay, wired android auto, and bluetooth. There's a couple forums/DIYs you can string tgth to figure it out. was a multi day thing...quite the project but i was able to get it working as a person w/ no DIY experience.
Let's please keep these hidden gems! I love the SC for its looks and Engine. You can find really amazing under 100k mile examples for about 15k and about 20 to 25k USD for the SC430. A lot of older Lexus are rising in price and sold in worse condition due to Nolstagia and the drift and stance car communities so PLEASE keep these hidden so i can buy one for a reasonable price since I've been saving up for the last 2 years and would love to own one.
I own a silver low mile 2002 model of this beautiful car, (SC430), and it is a beautiful in-n-out driving car that puts passion into your driving. I enjoyed your great review of a definite hidden gem. As soon as I saw one and researched it online, I had to have one. The top is operated by 8 electric motors , no hydraulics. Very reliable and quiet. I was lucky to find my rust free, unmodified, all original example at a dealer in Indiana, Wheels Unlimited.
Ordered and bought the first SC400 six months before it arrived on a boat from Japan, sight unseen. Didn’t even see an image of what was to come. Owners got a VHS tape by mail of the car about a week before it arrived. The very best car I’ve ever owned. The build quality was unreal. PS: SC300 owners were constantly asking me if I’d let them have my VIN number so they could buy the rear spoiler, which the SC300 did not have. The parts department apparently forced you to prove you had a SC400 to get the spoiler.
I've been waiting for this review. I recently inherited my grandfather's 2004 pebble beach sc430, 22k miles, garaged and maintained it's whole life. I LOVE it! BTW I just turned 50. I guess I'm mature now!
SC430 owner here, I really love my car, the engine is a gem and with the roof down is is so nice to drive. Reliability is great. I also believe that the design of the SC430 has aged very well.
I just bought an 02 SC430 w/65k miles, no accidents, having it shipped from MI, a delay now because of the weather. This will be my 3rd SC, should have never sold my first one but did, and now I look forward to driving in the mountains with the top down. Can't wait!
I agree with his sentiments completely. I was an extremely happy owner of a 1992 SC400 and now drive a 2003 SC430 as my daily driver. Of these two wonderful cars, the SC430 is the most enjoyable, while both were very reliable & fun to drive. Thank you for the great video !
I own a 1991 Toyota Soarer and an 2002 SC430 in this exact same colors and honestly thoses cars are so special yet so different. The Sc430 is a true hidden gem that everyone is sleeping on. It is in my opinion a complete Bentley vibe. I can't wait to see someone on YT show an OEM+ type manual swap an SC430. This would be the ultimate mod to access the full potential of the 430. Great video !! Thank you
SC 430 is what I call a Gentleman's sport car. We have a 2005 with 208k. Bought it used in 2017 with about 178k. I can attest to not using OEM suspension parts. I plan on moving it back to OEM as the budget allows. A good cruiser and quiet even with the top down. Strong engine for the size of the car. Has a lot of punch when you need it.
I bought a one-owner 2006 SC430 earlier this year. Its a WONDERFUL car...I call this my "Rolex on Wheels". We're retired, and we drive it out through the Sonoma wine country to the coast on nice days with the top down. It is pure joy. The stereo is wonderful and car drives like a magic carpet. I'm so happy with it. It has 100,000 miles on it and its just like new.
Oh I know that place. Have my LS430 and am looking to add to the collection. I went a different route and had AMD restore a 95 Camry with the V6. A fun little car to drive. Good luck on your quest-
@@Zephyrdaze1819 I'm in the process of restoring an '01 ES on my channel. Brings me back memories of my first car, which was a '94 Camry V6 XLE. Very similar to your '95 Camry V6.
Great informative video! I owned a brand new 1994 Lexus SC400 back in the day. I'm now considering buying a used SC430, and that is why I'm watching this video. As far as I know everyone that owns one of these (SC430) LOVES it and has nothing bad to say about them. The look has actually grown on me, and the interior is beautiful even by today's standards. And being a Lexus I know the drive is going to be heavenly.
Probably my favorite looking GT500 car were the SC430s from the when JGTC became Super GT. Silhouette racer, yes. But still a mean looking whip, even 20 years later.
Omgoodness! I can’t tell your how happy I am to see this video! Thank you!!! I can now show my wife , brothers and a few others why I have 4 Lexus two being the examples here.
I too am so happy to see your review of the SC430. I recently purchased a 2006 with 69,000 miles, timing belt done at 62,000. Very good condition. I started researching these a few months ago, decided to find a good example and naturally came to your site to see what I might learn. I believe this may be the first time you have given any info and your opinion. Mine will be my wife's car, She is happy and I am happy with the car and for your always insightful review.
Nice review. I like the styling of both SC generations. They are both unique. I never looked at either generation as a sports car but rather a luxury grand tourer.
I had a first Gen black SC 400. She needed a lot of TLC but by the time I sold here, after 5 years she looked amazing. Had updated all the exterior lights updated and repainted. Always reminded me of a black shark.
For the SC400, another issue that you need to keep an eye out for is the power steering pump leaking. While it's not too difficult of a job to replace, the kicker is that if left unresolved for too long, the power steering fluid will inevitably leak all over the alternator. Then you're left with more headache and an even bigger bill!
Yup. This happened to my 1993 SC400 at about 170,000 km. I bought it as a 3 year lease back and owned the car for 7 years. Sold it with 260,000 km. The car never needed anything else in my 7 years. It's an amazing and quiet highway cruiser, and the Nakamichi stereo really rocked!
Owner of 2004 SC430 with 217,000 miles, no motor issues. I've only changed the original suspension with coilovers, now it handles closer to a Porsche, cost $1900 with installation. The original suspension is floaty and causes wheel shake and cost over $4,000+. Brakes I use Power stop brake kit and no noise or rattle, smooth braking. Incredible car that turns heads and only paid $7,000 for it last year. A hidden gem
@@johndever84811970'S Buick boat tail will still be running in ten, twenty years. I've seen those Lexus' in a junkyard with no major body damage, don't know if it's mechanical or flood damaged . Those two examples were very well maintained
@@johndever8481 I thought the 430 would be smoother but I had to ask. I remember some time around 1978 or 79 when a friend came by with his dad's Buick Electra which was probably a 73 or 74. He left the engine running while he got out to have a short conversation. When he got back in the car to drive away it was so quiet that he accidentally turned the key to start a motor that was already running.
I drove a 1995 SC400 for several years, my first Lexus and have not looked back. In the past 29 years and 6 Lexus vehicles as well as multiple friends and relatives having also bought Lexus on my recommendations, everyone has been happy with their choices and purchased further Lexus vehicles down the road. 29 years and hardly any problems. Routine maintenance. Obviously I like the brand. They are very comfortable daily drivers and not sports cars. If you want a German style sporty vehicle - then go live at the dealerships and have disposable income for repairs, as a number of my friends found out. I had a 98 LS400 and sold it after 18 years. All it needed was a side view mirror switch that needed to be replaced. Everything else on the vehicle worked. Amazingly nothing else had to be fixed. Original everything other than rims.
I've owned a 1999 SC300 for 2 years now. I spent around $6,000 to get it back to 100%. Had to replace the rack & pinion which is a weak point in these cars, fresh oil topped on all systems & a few new gaskets, brakes, spark plugs etc. I just lowered it a bit & I get compliments on the street. Its a fantastic car & very rare to see in public. Great Video btw!👍
AMD, so glad you did an in depth review of the legendary SC models, they were truly ahead of their time. I own a 2008 SC430 mercury metallic with acru leather and the rare optional liquid graphite 5 spoke wheels. We purchased it in October of 23 with 52k miles on it and in absolute mint condition. My wife and I call it “our escape pod” from the hustle of life. As you mentioned the quality of materials and craftsmanship is second to none. You may be aware but Lexus collaborated with Yamaha on the engine design and also with their musical instrument division for the wood accents and I believe they sourced the leather from the same tanner that Coach hand bags use, even the interior carpet is wool. Fine examples of these vehicles will be sought after by collectors. May the Lord bless you also and Merry Christmas.
When I started this video and saw these two cars I had to pause it, get my popcorn and sit back and relax. People who really know cars and the lineage of these cars will understand. I must say the SC430 is on my list and I just hope you didn't cause the price to shoot up too much with this video 😊. The SC300 and 400 are cousins of the Supra even with the interior design and everything else you said. I've always felt that the SC430 is the precursor to the LC500 in quality and certain design ques, such as the buckle on the front seats and the seat design and cabin colors. My dream is to collect both the LC500 and the SC430.
I knew it was the sc class under that tarp, haha great video bud, I think the old sc400 display was call electro lumoset if I'm saying it right? I recently picked up a 04 sc430 with 76k that V8 is just a gem. But man a alot more expensive to insure compared to my gx's Appreciate all your knowledge and work you put into the videos bud
Me, too! Bought a 2003 SC430 in September 2024 and it is perfect for me! Powerful but refined. High quality materials. Solid construction. Phenomenal stereo (just replace one Mark Levinson 6x9 speaker with OEM). I truly don’t want any other car. I smile at Bentleys, Porsches, Mercedes, and more. #Content
Great review AMD. I had looked at the SC300, SC400 and SC430. Ultimately I ended up I purchasing a 2002 SC430 in July 2022 with 93K miles from the 2nd owner who had it for about 18 years where it was in good condition, from an older couple who used it as a spare car at their lake house. When I purchased it I made sure the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump had been done (luckily it had been done at 89K miles in 2019). I have had it for 2 years and put 10,000 more miles on it and the only thing that it had needed in 2 years was tires, new rear brakes and rear rotors, a passenger side power door lock actuator & the side mirror doesn't tilt up and down (which I already knew it needed before buying it). So nothing out of the ordinary to sort out on a used car purchase. I always use OEM Lexus parts on it (such as the rotors, brakes, and power lock actuator). It has been a pleasure to drive coming from a 2006 Miata. So while not sporty, it is more grand touring or sportish, I just love taking road trips in it or cruising around on a sunny day as it mainly driven on warm, dry days and minimally driven in fall/winter except to run it once every week or two in the fall/winter. Sitting in the soft leather seats this thing eats up the miles and you can drive it for hours and still arrive at your destination relaxed and not tired. It loves to cruise at 80 mph all day while covering the miles in quietness and has nice get-up and go 60 mph+. Before buying one you have to determine your use case and motives for wanting one. I wanted a convertible with some style, power, some more room, and reliability. While I liked the Miata for fun driving around corners and around town, it was not comfortable for road tripping in and space was limited and wife hated it as she felt unsafe in the small Miata and could feel every bump in the road as it was on H & R lowering springs. SC430 is like driving around in your favorite lounge chair topless.
Thank you so much for your video and recommendations on what to look for! I saw the episode of R. Hammond when it came out in 5th Gear and the SC 430 was not on my radar, but I did not like the design back then. I have aged as the car has now, and I appreciate comfort and overall, Toyota's reliability. I am considering one of these from 2002. Loved test driving a couple of them and oh boy was I impressed. Lexus - I own a 2008 GX and my wife has a 2011 RX - in love with both and this might be our weekend fun car for fall and spring days here in Florida.
after almost 15 years contemplating the sc430, ive decided to look for one, and i started my journey about 3 years ago, finally I found the one sc430 I was looking for, ONE owner 2005 pebble beach edition black with pimento red interior, only 56k miles, and since I purchased almost a year ago, ive added about 2k miles, weekend car fun to drive. will be doing timing belt soon just to be on the safe side. good luck to all looking for one, I almost put mine for sale because I dont drive enough but this video made me keep it, at least for now....
Awesome review. I still have my 2006 SC430 with 60k miles located in Florida. I also own a 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder. My boss owned an SC400 in the early 90’s and always wanted to get one.
Had the pleasure of owning a 1997 Lexus SC300 one of the finest cars ever built by Lexus. Loads of power and very DIY friendly. It never let me down. Only issue was an oil leak. I called it my Leakus. Turned out to be a disintegrating magnesium valve cover. Found a new set out of a warehouse in Los Angeles. Installed them and never had another leak. Im glad im not the only person whom noticed the extreme build quality and weight of the doors. The car was reliable, smooth, fun, and a vehicle i will always appreciate.
I have been die hard VW guy since I got my license in 1985 GTI’s. Moved to CA 3 yrs. ago bought Lexus 05 RX330 for 10k with 120k miles on it. I love it! Put down 5k last payment of $228 in December. Will drive it 4ever!
My independent Lexus mechanic has two original SC300 models. He is restoring them. One of my ex-girlfriends had one with a manual transmission, and it was swift off the line and a dream to drive. It had the 3.0 L inline 6 2JZ-GE engine.
I own one and I can say that it is one the best cars I have ever driven. It is a keeper for many more years to come! Like he said in the video, people will not appreciate the car until they drive one and spend time with it. It is amazing and it feels like having 2 different cars in one with roof up and down. And nowadays, people look at it more than ever before and it is a rare car on the road for sure! I love it!!!
Thanks for reviewing the SC430. I've been thinking about a next car... I just lost my 98 Sebring Convertible due to engine failure (owned it for 8 years and it was pretty decent). I've been eyeing the SC430 as a good replacement 2nd car. My daily is an 08 RX350. Thanks for putting in the time to review these older model Lexus's.
My father had a 1st gen SC 400 and then an SC 300 (we called it the Silver Bullet). I miss them so much. The 2nd gen is iconic because it was featured in the movie Mean Girls. Driven by the one and only, Regina George. 😊
I really like the SC, but here in the UK, we have to pay road tax every year, and the amount you pay is dependant on the year and CO2 emissions... I suspect that part of the reason Hammond was unkind to these is that they're in the top tax category, which means yearly tax on some of them is £735 (about 960 US Dollars). Add to that insurance, which for me would be the equivalent of almost another 1,000 dollars, it's hard to justify. For comparison, my Lexus GS is about £300 to tax every year, and that's considered expensive.
I looked for the right SC430 for about a month this year and found a black on tan about 3 hours from where I live. I paid a bit of a premium for mine but it had low miles, was well maintained, smooth like butter and the black and tan I wanted. I can't imagine this not being a collectible if time goes on much longer due to the luxury, build quality, smooth ride, and the rareness of a V8 rear wheel drive car as time goes on. Plus it's a Lexus so the reliability is very predictable. Such a cool car to get to own.
When I was working for Lexus here in Australia, on the SC430 the roof rubbers would creak as it was getting dried out , I was trained by a X Jaguar restoration manager who was working for us , he showed us which I still use today on my 95 Crown pillar less doors , we used a product called sorbolene moisturiser cream , it is for skin , but this has no silicone and does not attract dirt , worked beautifully.
I had one of last Toyota Supras before they discontinued model. I traded it in for my first SC400 1995 model year. It was pure luxury for time. I enjoyed it so much I traded up for 1998 SC400. Most beautiful and smooth V8 GT ever. Probably my favorite car ever and I’ve owned many. Decades later, I’m now driving LS 460 with last V8 in production. Sadly, there are fewer V8 options now so I’ll be “forced” into either the LC500 or RC F with the V8 as my next daily driver. Been driving Toyota and Lexus since mid 80’s. My 6 children all drive Toyotas (Camry, 4Runner etc). Best manufacturer for high quality and reliability - hands down.
Wow, been praying for this video ever since I got my 95 sc400 a year ago. Crazy lucky to daily drive a pristine semi-restored car as my first car. God is good
I've owner three since the early 00's. 1JZ, 2JZ, and 1UZ. I still own the 1UZ. They were only around $3k here in New Zealand for a while. Excellent cars. A couple of blown ECU, weak door trims and leaky brake fluid on the alternator in the 1uz are the only main problems i've had.
I feel spoiled. In the parking lot at my work you can find, as dailies, a 91 LS400 (mine) a '92 SC400, an '03 SC430, an 05 LS430, and an 09 LS400. Must be a southern California phenomenon.
I'm smiling from ear to ear.......the SC400 in this video is mine. AMD is the best!

My SC430 story…
When I was 12 years old I accompanied my grandfather to Hennessy Lexus of Atlanta to take delivery of his new 2006 LS430.
What a great story😊
I'm sorry for your loss
Your grandad seems like a really cool guy
My mom made a deal with me that if I got strait A's from middle school on and GRADUATED with straight A's that I would get my delorean
@@MyCatInABox thank you! He was a trip!
@@aussie2uGA that’s cool story! Did she honor the deal?

I just purchased a 2004 sc430 back in December. I love it, not only because it’s a convertible but it has the LS 430 engine. Ahmed THANKS for these videos you put out!
I have one 430sc over 20 years now. Never have one single problem since. Best car ever have.

Ohhh finally he shows an SC430 on his channel. I waited so long 😊 Iam owner of a SC430 here in Germany. Very underrated car.
The SC430 is the dream car I’ve always wanted to own. The major problem I’ve always had was looking for one that wasn’t mistreated to hell. I’d look at used cars and see it’s been through 4-7 owners and had things custom installed that aren’t necessary 🤦♂️
Same here
I owned one and sold it during the pandemic.

Thank you for another detailed review! We can thank Mr Hammond for making the SC430 an available classic!
I just got a SC430 last weekend before this video was released. Thank goodness it released today after my purchase.
TCCN out here singlehandedly influencing the used Toyota/Lexus market

How can you add Android Auto / Apple CarPlay and which one did you install?
@@christoph_with_ch_and_ph lot of solutions, i went with Naviks, their module preserves og look & is "plug and play" but doing so requires ripping out a lot of covers, and disassembling certain trim parts for connecting wires. Uses OEM touch screen & enables wireless/wired carplay, wired android auto, and bluetooth. There's a couple forums/DIYs you can string tgth to figure it out. was a multi day thing...quite the project but i was able to get it working as a person w/ no DIY experience.

THANK YOU! I've owned my 2005 SC for 2 years now. I was hoping to find a video of your opinion on them, and here it is!!
Happened to my 400 also.
That goes for cars with the 3UZ too.
Owner of 2004 SC430 with 217,000 miles, no motor issues. I've only changed the original suspension with coilovers, now it handles closer to a Porsche, cost $1900 with installation. Incredible car that turns heads and only paid $7,000 for it last year. A hidden gem

I had a hot wheels or mattel version of the sc400 and that made me fall in love with the actual design of cars. Metallic blue with big silver wheels.
I love your channel nearly as much as I love my Lexus.
Your videos are a great help in maintaining my 98 ES300; 272k runs perfectly. Thank you.

I have my 96 sc400 since 2005. Has 200K+miles now. Still runs. My 2000 sc300 is the back up for the weekends :) Love these cars .
I think that ELEGANT is the word you're sometimes reaching for in describing many of these very impressive designs.
Always get a smile on my face when I see one of these beauties around. Especially those with saddle interior, gorgeous.
Miss my SC430 , first thing i did was got rid of the run flat tires and got a spare .
My 1997 Celsior aka JDM LS400 I imported also has the hydro fan! It’s so amazing. Love to hear how special it is
My independent Lexus mechanic has two original SC300 models.
Dude your review is amazing! I hope you do more of them especially the ones you like!
I BOUGHT ONE THE 2002 AND IT'S BEEN FANTASTIC. RELIABLE AND GREAT TO DRIVE. GREAT REVIEW.
I had an SC400 that I absolutely loved. Had 254000 on it before I sold it. We'll made car and she was a beauty.
The SC430 is one of the greatest cars ever made… very happy to own one !
AMD, again another stellar video, I always loved the SC430 despite most folks disagreeing with me.
Honda Shin Etsu grease also works wonders on old rubber bits and pieces
Is silicone bad for rubbers?
Wow, the SC430 looks nearly brand new and not 22 years old!! 🤯
I love my 2002 SC430, 2nd owner, 18 years ownership with 150K. Everybody who rides in it loves it.
Proud owner of a 2002 SC 430 about 160,000 miles still in great shape had the ECU tuned up and a couple of other things and it’s now actually fast😂
So glad to see this video. I was going to go hunt through your library as I'm thinking of buying am SC.
That SC430 is gorgeous 😍
Thanks for reviewing SC430
I feel spoiled. In the parking lot at my work you can find, as dailies, a 91 LS400 (mine) a '92 SC400, an '03 SC430, an 05 LS430, and an 09 LS400. Must be a southern California phenomenon.
09 ls400? Or do you mean 460?
