- We're doing a Budget Build. AGAIN. Why do we do this to ourselves? Your guess is as good as mine. To spice things up a bit, and add more pain, we've introduced the Wheel of Fordyce, which has a lot of good and bad options on it for ruining our weeks. So although I agree with you to a point. Vanquish has a long way to go in order to take over what axial has built over that last 18 ish years
Hey matt....u should do a spin the wheel colour repaint option.......spin the new wheel to see what colour u have to go with or are stuck with.....purple...pink...blue....red....green....etc etc.
Then redo cars in a variety of that colour with custom that colour stickers or shade of that colour stickers.

I vent tires on rigs that won’t be in water.
But I live in Alabama. I can’t resist all the creaks and small streams! Plus….you’re basically walking through water half the year as well. 😂 So most of mine end up unvented or, if vented, running anti foams.

I always recommend vented wheels because you can cover the holes with tape if you're not happy with the flow. You can also use smaller drill bits and space out holes to manage flow better, too. Not that I don't think venting a tire is fine, if you don't want to smoke a set of wheels, but it's one or the other and one method gives you options for adjustment ;)
However, and I think this is valid, venting your wheels means that water and detritus can't escape no matter how much wheel speed you add. Venting the tire helps physics work for you, not against!
@@scalebuildersguild valid reasoning, for sure. I've done both. Maybe on the comp rigs like MOA the wheels make more sense because water isn't often a factor. For trail trucks, absolutely. I totally agree.
If you use closed cell foam, holes in the wheels won’t work. That’s the main reason I no longer vent wheels.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I don’t know. I feel like vented tires just reminds me of vented condoms. I know you’re right but it seems so counterintuitive to poke a hole in a tire.
I switched to venting tires instead of wheels when I started using dual stage foam. The inner ring wouldn’t let air by like the normal foams would. Made a huge difference venting the tire.

I enjoyed the new intro and I think your new rule format for this is great. I really like this new Fordyce also. It needs something to breakup the windshield and side window area. To get rid of generic look. An interior with some windows cut out. Wiper arms.

Unobtainum wheels and brushless conversion is a pretty solid start to me. I probably would have opted for at least a recycled servo too, but I can applaud your restraint for not going full-tilt in week 1.
Yeah... I thought about adding a recycled servo, but thought I'd give myself a challenge... plus, I'm a nice guy!

I bought the Fordyce and I'm new to this. How do you adjust the esc or I should say the brake? Out of the box it is 💯.
@@brianrozell1059 The jumpers on the ESC allow for adjustment to the drag brake. Should be pretty self-explanatory once you take a look at it.

New wheels, motor, and esc was the perfect choice for using recycled parts.
Thanks for the video. The thing i don't like about holes in wheels is that water and mud would get inside and wheel will lose balance
Good thing I didn’t put holes in the wheels then.
After mud got inside of my TRX4 stock wheels it started jumping when driving on full speed

Method Roosts are great looking wheels that I don't think work with wide and/or tall tyres, something like proline toyo open country maybe.
It would be awesome if you got an angry grill on that, just to spite Josh

I think the FORDYCE would look good in the color YELLOW just like a TONKA truck.
The wheel is awesome, though I thought you’d be using one wheel between you. This way is good though.

I wanted to see the transmission tear down on the RTR 12 plus mile trip and the axles to see how the gears looked. You'd mentioned a few different times about noises and I wasn't 100% sure if it was just the motor or if it was the gearbox
It was motor, not gearbox. Everything was mega clean inside.

Lowered all four! Extremely easy and everything you need is included!

When you get to spend money is it in CAD or USD? I just got a Phoenix myself and the parts from Vanguish here are considerably more money.
Everything on my channel is always in USD.
Use a scribe to punch the holes, a knife would make a tear, rather than a hole.

Can you vent the wheel instead of the tire? (Drill a couple of holes)
Yes, but then water can't escape. Also, if you're using a closed cell foam, venting the wheel does nothing.
Is the tip of a soldering gun it will melt a hole in it and make it less subjectable to ripen or tearing than using a knife or scissors
Not necessary at this scale.
@@scalebuildersguild Just from my experience I have had a couple rip on me your hole punch probably won't cause it though sensored brushless with enough wheel speed for mud runs probably didn't help lol 2850 castle system on 3s in a trx4 lol

I do have to say that the grill and headlight set up is great but the rest of the body is not that entertaining. I am thinking a swing and a miss on the body. That said, to each their own and the body is an easy swap out
