    A most brilliant project I have ever seen on laser models. Incredible details and instructions. Must be some geniuses producing these models. Congrats.

    Hello, I found your channel while researching laser cutting and I was simply in love with your videos, explaining 100% how to assemble the pieces, and the files are well organized and numbered, plywood and MDF, which do you think is better for doing this?

    • @freelaserfiles
      @freelaserfiles  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thankyou for your comments.
      We chose MDF for this one. MDF is always nicer to cut and made a really nice model. The edges were very clean, and the hinges and catch work well.
      If you haven't already, please subscribe, like and share. It really helps us to share the files with other laser hobbyists.

    I was wondering if you could post your settings for the atzer. I have been trying to cut ton a xTool d1 pro 20 watt and have not been able to find a setting to cut through the MDF

      Hi, thanks for contacting us. Let me start by saying that this box was cut on the Atezr 20w diode laser and that I am not an expert on diode lasers. We have been doing 150w Co2 laser cutting/engraving for several years to produce products, but when we decided to draw and share files, it became obvious that diode lasers are more popular with hobby users. When we are cutting the models for the videos, we are not rushing to produce products, so tend to cut quite slowly.
      MDF is very easy to cut and get a nice clean edge. It has no voids or knots, so we cut this material in one pass. For 3mm - .125" MDF, on the Atezr P20 we use 100% power and a speed of 6mm or 7mm per second, or 360mm to 420mm per minute, with the air assist at a medium setting. We have done tests at speeds quite a bit faster that this and the Atezr cuts with no problems.
      The models we make from 3mm Baltic Birch Plywood, we tend to use two passes at 100% power and 5mm or 6mm per second, or 300mm or 360mm per minute. The only reason for the second pass is the voids and knots. Even with a second pass, these can still cause the part not to drop. Again we have done successful test at higher speeds, but as I said, we are not in a rush when we cut the models.
      The video showing the laser cutting the parts is not edited and is at the actual cutting speed. The MDF sheet is on a steel honeycomb bed, held down with magnets. The air assist is on and there is a fan blowing the fumes away.
      Hope this info helps.

    Great designe! Is that a syringe tip your using on top of the glue bottle...?

      Hi, we use titebond 3 wood glue through an 18 gauge luer lock blunt dispensing needles. You can find them on e bay or amazon. They are ideal for small models but the glue will dry in the needle and block it if it is not kept clear. After each use I swap the needle onto another bottle filled with water and flush it. I also have needle caps which seal the needle and ball end pins which fit into the needles.

    I need help, I've wasted a ton of wood already, how do I fit one of your pages on a 20x12 sheet of wood? It always overlaps. I can't resize it. I'm using a Creality Falcon 2

    • @freelaserfiles
      @freelaserfiles  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, I may not be understanding your question, but I will try to help. I have no knowledge of the Creality Falcon, but on line it says it has a cutting area of 400mm x 415mm.
      We upload the files in three layout sizes,
      1/ Laid out - this is for people who want to nest their own layout to suit their machine,
      2/ Parts fit within 400mm x 400mm -16ins x 16ins. These sheets would probably fit your machine but you would need 16ins x 16ins sheets of material.
      3/ Parts fit within 480mm x 270mm - 19ins x 10.5ins. This layout is usually used by glowforge owners. If you have 20ins x 12ins material sheets, the layout would fit on your sheets but your machine would not be able to cut them.
      I hope this helps.

      Hi, thank you for your comment. The book box in the video was made from 3mm or .125inch MDF, but you could use any suitable material. We also use 3mm baltic birch plywood. Enjoy your build.

      Hi the files are on our website "freelaserfiles.com". We layout the parts in 3 sizes.
      1/ Parts Laid Out, this has all the parts laid out so that people can nest them to suit there machine cutting area.
      2/ Parts fit within 380mm x 380mm. This is to suit the popular diode lasers.
      3/ Parts fit within 400mm x 270mm. This is to suit machines like the glowforge.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi, thank you for your interest. Sorry, but we don't do commission work. We have been asked several times by laser manufacturers to produce files for them, but we don't do it. Designs we do are ones which interest us and ones we think others will enjoy making. The book box has been done already, so altering it wouldn't be interesting. If you have an interesting design in mind, send us a sketch, if we like it, we might just do it. No promises !!!!.
