@@User-jr7vf I do wash it with soap and warm water afterwards. Imagine all the oils and chemicals on that coffee cup lid from it's time going through the factory from the machines. Now also imagine every single one of those lids that just exited that factory will end up straight into a landfill, and again, in the name of convenience for someone to drink a single coffee in less than a few hours.
I'm pretty sure it was TED because there's a bunch of things about this video that are exactly like the previous one we're thinking of (i.e., exact words and phrases), so it's not just another video about the same thing on a different channel.
No, not Vox, ted did one with the same same guy I mean vox might have made one on the same topic but I doubt they used the same phrases as are used in this video (and the others that ted posted)
Can somebody explain what does these expressions mean, please? I really didn't understand it... peripheral skirts the "press-in dimples” the “fragrance outlets” the “slosh factor"
Does anyone remember in the 60s and early 70s paper coffee cup lids that sat inside the cup with a tab to pull out and it was soaked w coffee. Everyone would shake them off before throwing them out. He left out taht stage
Do people really ever search this type of stuff up? Because in every comment section there’s always someone saying I didn’t search this up. Just a random observation
Lol, it's because people randomly watch a TED talk and then forget that TED is connected to TED so they're going to get recommendations for it randomly for weeks to come.
I hardly ever look at video comments. And even less so do I take the time to comment. Lol but I am entertained and disappointed with all the haters. TED u can post this mf video 1000000000 more times and ima get just as excited cuz i fucking love sippin on my coffee where ever i go. Even if it is in a disposable cup cuz i dont have my own on me. Loved it!
Which lid spills the least when open? Back in the day before we all started to use travel mugs I found a trick with the supposedly primitive lid at 1:55. If you remove the lid and just push the peel back part into the cup instead, it allows you to drink without splashing coming out when moving. Even while driving it works well, but not prefectly. The traveler's lid could create quite a squirt in the same driving situation. I was surprised that an expert on coffee cups didn't know about this trick. Try it yourself people.
if coffee pours out from the opening it's sealed from air. an increase in underpressure may result in bubbles forming which disturbes the coffee drinking experience. thus, a pressure equalizing hole.
Most coffee cups are lined with a thin layer of plastic and can’t be recycled. The lid is recyclable. Let’s screw the lid and fix the cup or use a reusable.
The can go in the recycling or the compost in my city (Seattle)...but then, even the Starbucks straws here are compostable and the city collects that too.
Erica Gamet that’s great. Seattle is small compared cheers compared to the rest of the world. 👏 👏 we cant recycle our cups in Australia nor in most of the world which is a screaming shame.
Yhe next step of the lid evolution will be completely recyclable lids made from recycled materials produced in an eco friendly manner that is CO2 emission neutral too
The one that cools your coffee is COOLLID... Who's heard of or used Coollid lids? They are the true cooling coffee lids, not the Solo traveler lid! And they are recyclable, coming with biodegradable soon. Yay!
Whoever directed the camera should get fired. His face already is centerframe. You DO NOT need to show off your f/1.2 lens, or that crappy blur filter! It makes his face come towards you, which is really distracting from the info he's sharing....
This guy is so enthusiastic about coffee cup lids, I love it.
Find someone who talks about you in the same way this guy talks about coffee lid.
Coffee cup lid is just a sippy cup for adults
The sound effects guy must be brought to justice!
No one:
The coffee cup lid: *Evolutioning noises*
This is the first time I can recall actually smiling at a "no one" comment.
this is the second TED video about coffee cup lids
What a wonderful little video! More of these please! Science and innovation FTW
Your content is really good especially when it comes to great public speakers that you use in your videos.
And how many get thrown away each day, all in the name of convenience? I use the same travel mug every day.
I imagine that it has grown an entire flora of bacterias then...

Yeah, far better to pollute the planet with single use plastic.
Vox did something about this already if I'm remembering correctly.
I'm pretty sure it was TED because there's a bunch of things about this video that are exactly like the previous one we're thinking of (i.e., exact words and phrases), so it's not just another video about the same thing on a different channel.

Why is he talking like someone's forcing him to smile..
Bc TED team is telling him to do it
Its like re-releasing skyrim, but with youtube videos
i love thinking deeply about small things like a coffee cup lid 🤣
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
Coffee cup lovers. Like it
Amazing and Inspirational
wow, i love how he talked about coffee cup lid. so enthusiastic

Coffee is SERIOUS business.
It’s was a great idea to solve the all problems that’s why there is no more revolution on coffee cup lid.

Genius idea for us to lick that lid while sipping coffee, how hygienic! Great show, Ted. How's your flu?

So this is what making people trash the earth even more. Thanks!
I think I saw this before
Vaccum? How would there be vaccum if there's an opening right there?
if coffee pours out from the opening it's sealed from air. an increase in underpressure may result in bubbles forming which disturbes the coffee drinking experience. thus, a pressure equalizing hole.
Tim Hortons finally changed their lids just 1-2 years ago.
still there is much improvement for the coffee cup lids to go.

I feel like he smiled all the time, I like his confidence showing his teeth
Soon they’ll be required to be made from paper like straws.
Como anillo al dedo !!!
Make one not from plastic please
Why can they put this much work in to soda cup lids that way we don’t need those awful paper straws
No act of kindness no matter how small is wasted. Would you love to be youtube friends

Still plastic, and are mostly unrecyclable. Even more interesting is the double pane vacuum sealed glass lids.
Why don't you just put a lid on it?
Sustainable single use plastic object is an oxymore.

Meanwhile Tim Horton's has gone completely backwards with their new lid. Bloody awful it is!
That Virtual constat smile.
Isn't it annoying?
Coffee is unhealthy
That’s the best you can come up with...coffee lids? The content needs some improvement.
It's not that smart or innovative if it's made of plastic and winds up in the ocean. Figure out a better material, then let's talk.
