I am 55, heard this when I was (just guessing, 19). The age when your hormones rule your mind, your life. And into this world came rose. You know a woman is so mysterious to you at that age, unless you've lived a debauched youth. She was this mysterious creature that smelled so fine, looked and felt so good and was so warm on a cold night in the mountains. My word, my heart aches all these years later. Enjoy your youth, lock up the memories in your heart and mind, travel and have fun!
There are so many people who can play this note for note, play through the same equipment and get a great backing to accompany them with this and other Santana tunes, but nobody can make it sound like this man.Gifted and unique in musical terms. Awesome.
I completely agree, and I would say it is because he is such a beautiful soul and because he plays directly from it, that makes the sound ... he is translating his soul essence into sound.
Absolutely brilliant. He tells a story with a guitar...definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music from the era, possibly the whole modern era.
One of the greatest guitar instrumentals ever written, and played by one of the greatest gutarists to have ever graced our world!! Simply phenomenal!!!!
Hey guys, think about this: I am a 16 years old German Teenager at High School (we call it "Gymnasium") and my favourite genres are Trance, Dance, Techno and a bit Rock. But when I heard this song played loudly as a ringtone from my mothers' mobile phone I said "Damn, Mum! What's the name of this awesome song?!". And now I sit here at home on my chair and listen to Sinatra. I bet Sinatra was a freat artist and I'd like to make a timetravel to visit one of his concerts. It's awesome!
What's wrong with these so called "artists" now a days?? No one makes makes music like this anymore. This MUSIC is for the Soul, the HEART, the aged and the ageless. This is a special gift to us the ones that are here and the ones that have passed on, but we still remember. I too was 16 when this rolling thru my mind and soul. We had it good in the 70's. Today I don't know what we got ,but it will never be like Santana, Gran Fun Railroad and many others. Yep, today you have nothing!
Music like this does soothe the soul. It's as if the guitar is connected to your heart. Even if you are spiritual you will feel it. No one can play like Carlos. Love you Carlos.
I lost my step dad and he could play this amazing well his band finished every gig with this it rips me apart every time I hear it amazing song, R, I, P, John
of all the things to happen, Santana was my first concert. early 70, burnt a hole in the Abrexas album. i swear the TCC was spinning just sat there with my eyes closed, what a memory
¡Viva Santana! To me, this is the best song ever. It has become a classic and still sounds fresh more than 30 years after it was created. Viva Santana!
Well, you know, for people like Santana, Clapton, Hendrix, Gilmour, Brian May, Buddy Guy and other few superb guitarists, the instrument himself, seems to be a natural prolungation or part, of their body. Never more we'll have musicians like those people.
Carlos was always the genius. Faultless performance, but comparing this to the live in Mexico video, he has certainly added to his guitar virtuosity. His playing of late is absolutely effortlessly controlled and spontaneous.
born in 1972 yungest of 3 brothers 1 sis heard this music all the time playing in my hse when two of my brothers passed away the only thing left to remind me of them was this music it brings sorrow and joy happy memories and sad ones also seen him live two times and its a dream i have lived for my brothers having a chance 2 hear him live one great musician one of a kind one and only carlos
I heard this for the first time in the movie "The Fan" and fell in love instantly. I was stoked to discover that my dad had it on cd as he was a big fan of Santana. I performed it for my year 11 music exam and got an A :) I really hope this is played at my funeral. It's so beautiful.
I could never understand how Mr. Santana' playing could be so captivating, it being so simple as it apparently was. I guess he just had something fundamental to say to all of us, and he certainly said it. All of us understood it, and then the 1970s drew to their end, as they were supposed to do.; moments of purity, they do not last long. Then, we all had a business to go about, still that moment of purity lingers in our souls, and lives on. How shall we come to terms with it? It certainly was a unique chance. Our own life, is unique, and Mr. Santana contributed to make it so.
I remember hearing this song an afternoon heading to the beach with my family, and I remember the sun setting this song playing and the sunlight just shimmering on the water. It was and still is the most calm feeling that I ever had, so much that anytime I am stressed I listen to this for hours.
This has been one of my favorite songs for many, many years second only to Bella! He is the best guitarist we've ever seen and only gets better with time.
Having played a little bit of guitar, I can't even describe how brilliant this is. There is a mixture of tempo, melody, and precision, but no pedantic strive for perfection. I fully appreciate now the kind of genius required to play like that.
A Santana masterpiece. I'm always curious to see how he performs it live. It's largely always true to it's original version, but Santana's jazzy live performances have often given each live delivery a different, but very acceptable stamp on this Santana classic. This is a great "kick-back-to" type song, as so many of his are.
Thanks for the show Friday nite in Spokane. You made the warm nite air fresher with your music. Everyone loved the show & raved about it all into the morning hours......it was just what people needed....I think everyone in the hotel came out to hear you play.....keep going......
Agreed! Inspiration has a sound & is what the artist emotes & shares. Santana is so spiritual, so free in his style. His guitar pulls from me emotions I can only get from very special real life experiences.
What a great show in 1974 at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa He had all of us eating out of his palms! One of the Best Ever! Thank You for the Posting!!!

I have an uncle who is a music lover but is going through very hard times with his health. I used to play guitar in a metal band and my uncle's daughter is currently a percussionist. I've contacted her to arrange a jam for my uncle and we are going to play this together. I am so excited.
CARLOS IS STILL THE MAN WITH THE MAGIC GUITAR. HE IS ABOVE AND BEYOND ANY GUITARIST. HIS GUITAR COMPOSITIONS ARE BREATH TAKING. I SAW HIM AND HIS BAND A WEEK AGO IN CLARKSTON MI. HE JAMS LIKE HE DID 30 YEARS AGO

Santana is the real alchemist hell yeah!
Santana is a genius!
I have a cover of this on my other channel.
Absolutely brilliant. He tells a story with a guitar...definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music from the era, possibly the whole modern era.
Very under-rated song by Santana. It takes a lot of skill to play this song.
Carlos Santana brings a guitar to life performing his magical playing. Samba Pa Ti is one of the greatest instrumentals of all time.
santana is god.. when it comes to live versions!!!..
SANTANA ROCKS!!!!
One of the greatest guitar instrumentals ever written, and played by one of the greatest gutarists to have ever graced our world!! Simply phenomenal!!!!

Santana came onstage at a Ben Harper concert at the berkeley Greek a couple years ago and stole the show. The guy is a freak. Love this video!
