I always knew this was possible, I made tennis-sized crochet balls and felted over them years ago, idk why people only use felting for details like eyes when it can be used to make amazing projects like yours... I'm delighted such a great crochet artist is using this underrated technique, it's so beautiful...
Thanks, I'm so happy to hear you like my work 🥰 With felting being so slow, it could be that people don't have the time for more than eyes? Or maybe they're not confident in their ability to do a good job over the whole model? 🤔 In my experience as a designer, time and confidence are the main things that hold people back. I'm hoping that Projectarian's Year of Fur can help 😄🙌
Yea.... Because it’s a much more tedious process that needs separate skill set, more materials, and confidence. Also getting stabbed repeatedly accidentally with a needle that have micro thorns are not pleasant... ._.
Hi there! I just happened across this amazing video/idea/excecution! Fantastic!!! I do have some tips for you as I'm a doll wig maker and I used to work with yarn to make the wigs, so I know the pain and process of turning yarn into fibers. First and easy tip: unravel the yarn [combing it as it is will work, but it produces more 'fluff' and it's a little harder imo - if you unrol it, the pet brush glides easier through each one]. Second tip: you don't have to tie the yarn in a knot from the get-go, divide into smaller sections and knot later [advanced tip: use a spiral notebook and tie a few strands of yarn through the loops. Then, lay on flat surface, unravel the strands and start combing. You get more done, less waste and I find it less harmful for your hands than holding and brushing. Hand cramps are not fun if you do this for a long time]. Third tip (optional, but perhaps useful): spray the knotted strands with a "secret spray" [basically, in a spray bottle add water and a little bit of fabric softener and hair conditioner -this will make a detangling spray that will help with brushing]. Fourth tip (going together with previous as we add moisture): press the sprayed yarn with a hair straightener [this will get rid of the moisture, but the yarn will have been introduced to the softening agents, so all good. This, in addition to unravelling the yarn, will help glide through the yarn and produce silky fabrics that smell amazing. Low heat if you're using acryllic yarn, as it might melt.] I am not a needle-felt person (not yet), so I can't tell for sure if the last two tips are of any use, but I thought to include them! Happy crafting!
I am amazed with your work. I can’t believe how detailed your patterns are. Or that they’re either free or about $10! I assumed they’d be at least $30-50. I don’t think the community will ever be able to thank you enough for showing how to do these incredible projects.
This is incredibly wonderful to hear, you made my day. Thanks so much! I'm grateful to be able to call this my job, thanks to the people who find value in it 🥰💝💝
This blew my mind! I have been a fiber artist for 15 years and I had no idea that you could felt with acrylic! I thought the scales on animal fiber were necessary, but it makes sense that if you are stabbing the fiber enough times into a base that it would still hold in place eventually. Very cool!
i’m glad i found this video, ive needle felted for forever but i just started to crochet and this technique is something im sure to use for current projects and projects for years to come
Beautiful! What a great way to express your creativity and fuel your imagination! I think when you've mastered one type of art, such as crocheting, it's important to challenge yourself to grow. I know this was time consuming, but I believe the key to creating any beautiful piece of art is not getting caught up in how fast you can complete it. When you take your time and stretch yourself outside of the box, you become fully present and enjoy the journey. BRAVO! This was so inspiring, thank you for sharing your talent! ~~Christy~~
Wow, she looks absolutely spectacular, you did an amazing job!! I don't think I'll invest that much effort in felting a whole project unless it's for a particularly special reason... however you did inspire me to get felting tools to do details such as eyes, noses, rosy cheeks and inner ears, which I think will still give my projects an extra-special look. Thank you!
Kudos to your patience. It really looks great. To this day all I ever did was wet felting. But I love to crochet. Based on the TON of work, I only would try dry felting on a small amigurumi. Guess I would go slightly crazy spending a whole week doing this 😂
She is so awesome! I hope I can accomplish something half as beautiful as yours. You are definitely inspiring me to step outside my crochet box and try something new. Thank you.
This is incredible! I can't imagine the amount of time and work it must have taken to make this beautiful project. It's even more impressive that you were able to execute such a detailed, complex vision from just a few marker sketches. I loved this video and can't wait to watch more :)
Oh, it's so cool to see someone else making these! I have a husky dog with a weird coat, and I could never get her to look right, so I crocheted a dog and then felted her over the whole thing to give her her red-brown-blond colouring, and it was perfect. I've made little ballss and felted on shapes as christmas ornaments, too, to give to friends. And of course there''s the dolls with curly or close-cropped hair, which is much easier to felt than to embroider or crochet!
Wow!! You did an awesome job 👏 🙌 I have been crocheting amigurumi for years and have been wanting to do the eyes with felting. Now I see I can do so much more!! Thanks for this in depth video because I was only coming across people posting a "video short" without any explanations and I had so many questions 😅 you're a life saver 🤗
even tho im a novice I enjoy needle felting very much, its become my favorite hobby besides drawing and sewing so I love this idea of making a plush and then felting over it to make details! I dont like or even remember how to crochet but I bet using this idea with a felt plush would work just as well and could make it easier to do small details instead of doing complicated sewing patterns and dealing with faux fur fabric. ty for this video it has definitely gotten the creative juices flowing lol
I am blown away! This sweet kitty is amazing... I will def be trying to make this bundle of adorableness~ Then I want to try to do this to a big crocheted dragon I am planning on making for the Chinese New Year of 2024! (Will never look at any crocheted animagurumi's the same again.) I love Aquila!
Heirloom quality! Thank you for this fabulous tutorial. I made my first amigurumi bunny and also a plushy Dino for her 4 year old brother. I decided to felt the eyes but this is a whole new level!!! Yes it’s worth it time wise at least once. I’m also going to try brushing out the coat on the next one which looks like a good technique to create a halo effect.
You are absolutely amazing at this and your kitten came out so beautifully. So so much work but it paid off in the end. Thanks for sharing your journey!
What a gorgeous cat! You really made a huge effort on bringing this stunning piece to live! Thank you very much for the detailed video and tutorial! I make amigurumi, and I've been thinking about adding felting since I tried some pokemon years ago. The designer used this technique for the eyes, but it was impossible for me to find the felting needle. Now that I have it, and with your nice guidance, I am making personalized cats for friends and customers. Thank you from Ecuador!
Great idea! If you use a marker that bleeds onto skin or surfaces, wear latex or nitrile gloves while working, and use masking tape to adhere wax paper to the surface. Alternatively, use sewing chalk. I have felted onto crocheted handbags, but it didn't occur to me to felt amigurumi. I will tag you when I post pictures. ❤
Wow! This is phenomenal!! Had never seen anything like it! What a precise work and you are so patient! I enjoyed just watching it for now. But will definitely try it. I just made a cute crochet kitty and was browsing to see how to make the face. This was enlightening!
I’m just in complete awe of your crochet animals! This turned out truly amazing! It’s a great concept I’ll for sure use but on a much smaller scale! If I do I will tag you in it!!
I learned so, so, SO MUCH by watching this video. I feel like I know everything I need if I want to try doing something like this myself. Thank you!! By the way your color work is exceptional. Very strong artistic talent, well done!!!
It looks soo cute. Kudos to your hard work, it looks like it took so much effort and time but in the end it paid off! I don't crochet yet but I've made these balls of fluff before by accident, I was trying to make fur for a project (a big llama with straps you could put on your shoulders to walk around and "ride" it) and I noticed the balls of fluff that were left behind on the brush looked much more delicate than the fur I was making for the body, so I decided to not let them go to waste and use them to make the llama's cute face. One of the most time consuming projects I've ever had, but also the most satisfying. I ended up learning so much from it
Thanks for the tip on making roving with yarn. I knew that there must be a way to do it, but I didn't know how. I mainly use wool for my needle felting, but if I need a more obscure colour I'll be brushing some yarn.
OMGOSH 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤!!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST GORGEOUS & AMAZING CAT THAT I HAVE EVER LAID MY EYES 👀 ON 😻🐈🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤!!! I AM TOTALLY EXHAUSTED FROM JUST WATCHING YOU WORK, LOL 🤣🤣🤣!!! BUT IN A VERY GOOD WAY 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤!!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING AS AMAZING OR AS GORGEOUS AS THIS WORK OF ART 😻😻😻😻😻❤❤❤❤❤!!! YOU ARE ONE DEDICATED HUMAN BEING & I ABSOLUTELY LOVED WATCHING EVERY SINGLE SECOND 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤❤!!! THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR AMAZING TALENT WITH ALL OF US 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤❤!!!!!
This is amazing and beautiful. You are amazing. I just bought my first felting supplies and am going to start with some balls for in several glass pieces for pin keeps. But this has my mind buzzing with some ideas for projects. This is your first video to pop into my feed so I’m definitely going to look for more. Thank you so much.
This is amazing! I love the crocheted cat, I think she is gorgeous, but the felting just takes it to the next level! You have inspired me to try felting and to combine the two crafts, after some felting practice, of course. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I just found your channel and I am in love with this video. ❤ I also love crocheting and knitting felting is fun too. They lasted longer than regular wash clothes. I used rubber gloves for a template. 😊
I wonder if the base coat could be made by brushing your finished amigurumi and felting it back down, then adding your details? I'm not familiar with needle felting personally, so just spitballing an idea at the wall. :) This is a great idea and I think I will try it in the future! Thank you for sharing!

@@anonymouswhite7957 Felting without a thimble is like stepping on Lego, no thank you, especially if you're a beginner.
That is ADORABLE. Way too much work, but knowing it exists makes me exceedingly happy! Thank you for sharing it.
I might do it with a small critter but with something like this i would have to have no end date lol
I wonder if you could use the slicker brush to roughly felt large areas since it’s basically just a bunch of needles..
@@LopsideMakes if you brush it out with a slicker or petbrush you get a more hairy effect, i believe she made one of those too

WOW! Fabulous work! So inspiring! 😻

turned out beuatiful
This is amazing! I love the crocheted cat, I think she is gorgeous, but the felting just takes it to the next level! You have inspired me to try felting and to combine the two crafts, after some felting practice, of course. Thank you so much for sharing this.
What a great idea!
Thanks for sharing 😊
Insanely fascinating! 🙀 Bravo!!! 👏
Thank you so much!!! 🥰
Very inspiring and creative! Love your accent too. Did I spot South Africa? Hugs from Provence, Adrien
it is absolutely beaitufuul
i wish i knew how to crochet, cause this looks so cool and you did an awesome job!!
I can't crochet (never learned) but wow, this looks absolutely beautiful. The little kitty is gorgeous!
It was so good I am going to give it a go
It's beautiful but I would not try such an ambitious project!!
I found you because of that sick milipide❣️❣️❣️ so cool!
Omg i didn't know you're the one who made the giant millipede!!

that's so clever!
I’m going to try it I have no idea if I can do this lol but can’t wait!
You can do it!!!!! 💪😎 Let me know how it goes 😁
eyy fellow saffa! this is a wonderful pattern, thank you :D
Outstanding 🎉
beautiful work! thank you for sharing!

They lasted longer than regular wash clothes. I used rubber gloves for a template. 😊
Thank you for this video it's so helpful

AWESOME!!!
Thanks!!!
Soooo beautiful ❤❤❤
Absolutely stunning result and fantastic tutorial too. Thanks ☺️
Amazing! I've felted some small designs onto things and know how long that can take - this is a labor of love and it looks great!
Wow. Wanted to get some ideas about how this felting stuff is done, but your video is stunning. Quite the job you've done. What a gift of knowledge. Thank you.
That was awesome!
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous!
Good lord girl your stuff is amazing!
I love this!!!
This was so mesmerizing to watch! Saving in my watch later for when I have time for a project like this ❤

Great guide, I've been meaning to try this!
As acrylic is slick, and not barbed like the animal fibers, how well has your felting kept compacted?
