oh man I felt that when you grabbed your back. Getting old sucks, the smallest things get tweaked and take forever to heal. Hopefully you recover fast!
Just started skating again after a 4 year off period. I got humbled real fast. And i have gotten pretty chicken. Cool to see others in the older gen still riding this smooth. You are my inspiration to keep at it!
I was in the same boat on and off for a few weeks recently. I think I may have turned the corner and haven't had much back pain lately. I hit the gym 3-4 times a week, urban skate, mtn bike, and aggressive skate prior to the injury. I added planking, and more stretching, and better sitting posture. I'm 48 yrs. Best of luck and let us know what routine heals you
I hope they can figure out what’s going on, that’s rough. Please take care of yourself Buddy! You’re doing incredible things on and off skates, hope to see you skating again soon.
I suffer exactly the same with my back. I sympathise with you Law, it's not fair. I injured mine just before Winterclash this year and it put a downer on the whole trip. I had weeks of physio and osteopath appointments after to get it right. Hope you recover soon and it's not too serious.
My daughter sat on my back while I was laying down, and somehow I could barely walk for like 2 weeks. I empathize with this clip. I imagine my body would do exactly the same thing. ❤
I've had the same issue for years. I'm just now starting to understand it at 36. I got an XRay, and nothing looked too terribly off, just some slight scoliosis and mild disk degeneration. We also ruled out a herniated disk, because I'd be in pain constantly, and I usually get better in about a week on my own. I've done the chiropractor thing as well, and they thought it was the SI joint for years, it was not, and all they were doing was treating the symptoms, not the cause. The end result was that it's purely a muscle injury. Whenever I stick to an exercise plan that specifically targets my lower back, I see a drastic decrease in flare-ups. You can always pull a muscle, but strengthening your lower back makes it happen less often. You can go to the store and buy a home E-stim for the pain, tylenol also works for me. In addition, I've found that when you have this injury, it's best to keep it mobile and stretch it out. Especially after long periods of sitting or sleeping. Also, right after it happens, it's important to drink a ton of water and cycle ice/heat. All this cuts my recovery time down. I'm by no means a doctor, but this has all helped me.
Hang in there my dude! I am struggling to skate more than 30 minutes at a time these days, and most days I just cant at all. Different reasons than you, but Ifeel like I very much identify with you. I did get my skates on today and got to ride around town a little bit this evening. I got some supplies to make some good grinding obstacles, but I just have not had the juice to get out there and build them. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of what's going on with you back soon so you can continue to be an inspiration to others in the inline skating community. Much love man, keeping you in my prayers.
I'm your age and I'm thinking about getting back into it after a many years hiatus. If I do then I'll definitely film it. Good for you for getting back on the horse!
Oh man, so sorry for you. I can recommend you go see an ostéopathe (sort if I mispell...). It works for me for this kind of things a doctor may not find a good solution. Anyway I hope you heal completely and without much pain!
Ouch, sorry bro. I am more wizard and less aggressive, but last Wednesday night I felt something in my lower back, and only today can I stand up straight, with quite some pain still I might add. Walking, pfft, we'll see in a week (pain has moved to groin in the front, FFS!). Get Well Soon 🤞🏾
Really sorry you're dealing with that. I've had a lingering back thing as well and the only thing worse than the pain is not being able to skate. Hoping you get through it soon!
You should see a sports orthopedic doctor. I broke my collarbone in 2 places and did major damage to my rotator cuff skateboarding and they did a great job putting me back together. It took some time and some pain and it wasn't perfect but I was able to get back out there.
All good found it on your website. This sounds fun, as I'm currently just working through a spreadsheet of grinds for three different obstacles, coping, rail and ledge 😅
Idk if anyone has mentioned it, Ricardo Lino just put out a video about how downsizing his skates was causing him back issues, amongst other things but quite often back issues start at our feet
Have similar back issues with my sacroiliac joint, and any sort of compression or bending of the back is going to aggravate it, particularly that you did such a deep squat when you landed. Do you have pain going down your leg? If so that's the SI joint and the aggravation to the nerve attached to it. Saw a chiropractor and had to take it easy for a while... good luck, hope you feel better!
I hurt my back picking up my 15 month old while swaying side to side while singing the Barney "I Love you song". Messed me up for about 2 days and couldn't skate. I'm getting old 😅 those red frames look great!
I just ordered a pair of Them 909s after not skating for 15 years. I live near Boone and plan to hit this park and the one in West Jefferson often. It would be cool to meet up and skate. Enjoy your vids.. Keep them coming
I have a whole regiment of exercises I do before even getting my skates on. First the 5 tibethans, then 7 minuttes workout, then stretching. I don’t dare trying rails and letches, and only seldom skate vert, which was my thing back in the days. I skate the streets and do some minor jumps. You really deserve to be able to skate some rails etc., Law. After all this work on your own skate.

I’m literally dealing with a bad back right now too. When I hurt my back I just go straight to an urgent care 2 miles up the road. They give me an anti inflammatory shot and a steroid shot. It SUCKS getting old.
Stretching. When sitting. Cross a leg up and put it on the other. Arch your back and lean forward for a glute stretch. Warm up off the skates too with some squats and do the stretches, but also stretch at home to maintain flexibility. You can see when you squat you just aren't ready for it. You form looks poor when you land and squat too. Hope this helps or maybe you're already figuring it out.
Just out of curiosity are you warming up first? Stretching? Drinking plenty of water? I used to inline skate when I was I was younger, I’m now 37 and would love to give it another try just for fun. I definitely don’t want to damage myself though and concerned it will open up more injuries, even if it is incredibly fun to do.
Yeah, after the first back injury years ago I started a daily stretching routine. Before every session I stretch and take it slow to warm up. I think it’s a “me” issue, doc should be able to help
You might need to go get your back checked for a par defect (Spondylolysis} L4 L5 right above the hip. I have one and jumping, aggressive skating flares it up, urban not so much. Just a thought and its more common than you might think I have talked to Richie Eisler on a online chat one time pretty sure he has one too.
Feel better man! Maybe instead of reviewing the products yourself you could have your team riders sesh the product and you have a q and a session with them about it after.
Actually I hurt my back trying to show off in front of my niece on my rollerskates. The kid's park is the worst in my area and only little kids go there with parents. A regular skateboard can not even go up those transitions it will get stuck with it's wheels in the air and both nose and back touching the ground. It's a good thing you know when to stop.
try talking to an expert in this area, because likely the only way to fix this, is targeted training and stretching for the part of your back thats hurting. i went through the same thing with my knee until i did targeted exercises. not just doing an exercise for your knee, u have to really specific ones that will slowly strengthen around your weakness spots. if you just keep pushing how u are or do random back exercises itll never fix itself
No good, I wish you a fast recovery👍👍👍

Definitely go to the doctor so a PT can help you get it sorted for good! I had some lower back issues and that helped so much!
