Makes sense that you like one for one thing and another for another thing. I'm an artist and I use certain tools for one thing and certain tools for another just due to how the tools feel and where it places my hand. When stuff is about feel and expression it becomes almost impossible to be entirely specific and you just have to say "this feels better for this" but try all the options and see which you like the most.
When I got to aggressive skating, I had anti rockers for 1 session, and I knew I I never wanted it again flat is the way,but try both you decide ultimately
Thank you so much for these information. I used to skate freeskates at a local extreme skate park (lol) when I was 7-12 with my dad (he used to skates anti rocker), I believe. I always see people grinding and doing crazy tricks with skates, boards or bmx and been really wanted to get into aggressive skates. But I never had a chance till now I’m 18 in 2024. The market definitely changed a lot in the past years and all the new informations flooded me. However this video helped me a lot. I’ll probably get a nice flat frame with two smaller wheels in case I want to get into anti rocker as you mentioned in the last, you can always swap around when the frame supports it. Thank you again sir!
I broke my back a couple of years ago... I used to skate sporadically before, never took it seriously but since now I have to learn a lot of mobility for my left leg from scratch I decided to take on aggressive skating again... I grabbed my old skates and they had anti-rockers on them, I was absolutely miserable trying to skate in them, but now I just converted to flat, let's see how it goes...
The aggressive skates I bought a long time ago now came with hard plastic anti-rocker wheels. Which I liked because I didn’t know how to turn and I think for how I planned to use them, I thought it would be fine to just step to turn like in cross-country skiing. And I didn’t think I would need to go fast for basic grind tricks on a low rail, and also that learning on slower skates would be easier. Too bad I never actually learned tricks. I was too worried about injuring myself.
Hi/lo frames like Oysi always get left out of videos like this and they deserve a mention as a valuable 4th option. I'm too sloppy a skater to vibe with flat but I can't stand antirocker either. Oysi medium is *almost* the perfect frame for me personally.
@@cfronin Actually Oysi make me a better skater as they suit my style much better than flat/anti. Not that style is high on my list of concerns. I skate for fun and excitement before anything else. I don't care too much about making it look good. It's all about how it makes me feel.
Unpopular Opinion: Free Style frames are actually better for grinding and the community hates on them because they are easier to grind with. However the same Community will gladly advise you to do use Anti Rocker with 2 useless wheels for the exactly same reason ... The fact that this videos displays no Freestyle frames at all is a confirmation of that fact.
i know this is an old comment, but didn’t he talk about freestyle frames at like 4:45? or are u saying the fact that he doesn’t own any himself confirms that the community is just being gatekeep-y
Another big advantage to anti over freestyle is antis make your frame more rigid. If you skate a frame made for flat or anti without middle wheels, you're far more likely to crack your frame.
@@RicardoLino for sure love the video as usual want to buy aggressive now! What do you think would be good for a budget under €200 aggressive skates, are the roces M12 any good? Sadly Not in Lisbon anymore but I would of loved to skate with you🤘👊 went to boardriders ericeira
The anti rockers also stop you slipping off the h-block. Always have something in the middle or get a full freestyle frame. Never skate without any middle wheels at all.
Boas Ricardo! será que podes fazer um video sobre as melhores rodas 80mm para andar com chuva/pisos molhados e como fazer manutenção dos patins/rolamentos? bem haja!
Hi lino!! Thanks for this type of video! Using it to share with people that are always asking this questions, including me in the early steps! Thanks you addict!
Always skate flat. Grind wheels or anti rocker is only acceptable IMO if all you have to skate is fat rounded city curbs. In the early 90's CDS Detroit made plastic grind wheels everyone used to run, but by like 1995, no one in my area used them anymore unless you had tiny feet or something.
Off topic a bit but what skates have the biggest soul besides aeons/shadows? Would love to try out all 3 options but need a skate first since im a aeon kinda guy right now i ve no idea whats out there!
I just bought a nice pair of Roces. I still need to order anti-rocker wheels, but I also have to buy the other attachments. Idk what I need. Can someone please help me?🙏🏼
Should I get anti-rocker skates to skate around city if there are pretty bad roads? I'd like to learn grinding and found some cheap and good quality model but also want to ride in the city.
No youbwill be miserable and waste lots of energy, every Crack and bump will be harsh ,go flat if you're going to be skating around the city atleast a 60mm flatbset up
isnt skating antirocker just the same as freestyle? all thats added is two little wheels that dont touch the ground. so every downside that freestyle setups have, antirocker setups also have. right? its not like the middle wheels in an antirocker setup are helping with turning or taking the same impact as the other wheels. theyre just kinda there taking up space
I just don't like how small the wheels are. Why do aggressive skates use such small (and therefore slow) wheels? Why not 5x80s with the middle wheels removed? Or even at LEAST 5x72s with the middles removed.
If you want to have style one day forget about freestyle or oisy frames they make you a shitty skater and they look bad. Flat or real anti are the only two viable options.
my favourite setup is really hard middle wheels and softer outer wheels, but flat.
That’s how I skate but it’s impossible to find 92a/95a bigger that 58 or 60 unfortunately
Cymatics wheels pink middles wheels and grey outside..best of both and still riding flat.

Just ordered some cults comin in tomorrow, gunna be a rad weekend!
Awesome video :) tons of info! I've always rode anti rocker and free style, but I've gotta absolutely try flat out now!

I have the 281s. They are the best of both worlds period.
I was going to they they make you a bad skater but you said it yourself ;-). You’ll never improve in style with Oysi. Also they are ugly.

I will say tho, the anti rocker wheels make the skate look super cool. Makes me want to skate more.
Facts
Anti rocker and freestyle is jus for those who lack skills, it's easy mode for griding...
i know this is an old comment, but didn’t he talk about freestyle frames at like 4:45? or are u saying the fact that he doesn’t own any himself confirms that the community is just being gatekeep-y
Flat is smoother but i really like that carving grip of anti.
Can you do a video on the proper knee pads? Recommendations?

Yes just the video I've been waiting for 👍

I JUST PURCHASED MY 1ST SKATES BECAUSE OF YOU BROTHER ! ROCES M12 USF , I was wondering what bearings/wheels I can use to make them faster ?
Both, both is best.

if ýou start anti or free before switching to flat to learn grinds faster, ýou have to learn everý grind twice..

I won't go back to anti-rocker until I can get hold of another set of Senate Buu Tangs.
Smoke wheels with precision every day
Did we also forget Aeons exist?
50/50 also has a freestyle frame for the prime frames.
What the dawg doin
really helpful

i use roker in my agresive lineskates
Does anyone know the name of his outro song?
O Pai da patinação
English translation with context: "Skate daddy."
Da best is a rockered Oysi frame ! Full speed, lots of stability, huge Hblock and incredible manoeuverability!
wait... no tri-rocker?
There are 4 type of tri rockers.. couldn’t include them in THIS video ;) soon
Tri rocker??

you can get 4x72 Aeons
I’m a size 12US m , do I have to get a size 14? In the ROCES M12 usf ?
Yeah im a 12 too. Their sz 12 is really like an 11.
