Hey Doug, I always enjoy your laker video's. It gets me so hyped up everytime I watch it. Hope to see some more in the near future.

Awesome video. I run my Hum 899 side image "open water" fish finder on the ice with an ice ducer for the last 6 years, build a "flasher" kit box for it and use it in jig mode. I get the wide cone false bottom often times on steeper areas. I never have, and will never own a flasher lol.

Man, those lakers are aggressive and coming up like rockets. Only thing better than watching those graph shots, is when it's MY graph that I'm looking at!

What kind of tubes do you run? How can I get ahold of them? Also, I really like that Swedish pimple.

I see you are in relatively shoal water...do you switch up to the pro glass when deeper?
If I had to guess, the pro graphite looks like a med fast action.
    I'm usually 80+ ft.

The pro glass would be a good rod for that deeper water. If you are using braid as a main line it won’t be as big of a deal but the added backbone of the pro glass would help in deep water!

@@dougwegnerfishing using nanofil 17lb which is no stretch but also does not ice up as bad as braid and is not as loud through the guides.
I appreciate your response on the advice of rods.
      Appreciate!

Great video. What handle type and guides are you using on your rod? I live very close to Thorne Bros. and want to have them make me one like yours. On your web site it doesn't show that you guide for lakers. Do you and if so, where can I find out prices and areas that you guide in? I've never caught a laker and it's high on my bucket list. Thanks!

      6” cork rear grip
      Hidden hood reel seat
      Recoil guides
      44” pro graphite blank
I don’t guide ice trips at this time maybe in the future.?

What cases are used for those long rods? I have two TUCR 44" LTP's and have yet to find a good case that is reasonable.

I got the new otter 48” case this year and it’s been awesome. It’s more like a 46” case tho if I’m being honest.

Do you slow down at all when you have one chasing or just keep a steady retrieve? I’ve had a lot of chasers that just won’t commit.

    • @dougwegnerfishing
      @dougwegnerfishing  3 года назад +1

Steady has been best even a little bit faster if they won’t bite it’s a game of cat and mouse. They can swim way faster than you can reel!
