My cousin married into a Filipino family and every time they held a party i always felt like our mexican culture simply clicked with their filipino culture, especially with the food!! My god this bbq food just looks amazing! Has my mouth watering and i just finished eating lunch! Cheers from a mexican fan of Filipino food!
Spanish cuisine is one of the influences in the make-up of Filipino cuisine. You'll also find Chinese, Japanese, American, and Malay influences, which make Filipino food very diverse.
I had a Filipino teacher who used to grill meat for us at outdoor school events. When I tell you everyone LINED UP to get some of that food, I’m not kidding.
For those put off at the sound of 7-up and banana: Banana ketchup basically tastes the same as extra sweet ketchup. The marinade tastes just tastes like teriyaki, we use 7-up as the sweet element alongside soy, instead of honey. So if you haven't tried filipino bbq, it tastes way better than you think it is :))
I never laugh at a flavor profile of a food nor do I mock regional cuisine, there is always a story behind why people cook as they do, how they store and preserve food. Learn the story behind the food learn the story behind the people.
Filipino BBQ is so different in every region with different marinades and sauces that make the meat so delicious. But they all taste great no matter what region of the Philippines the recipe is from.
Ahhh... memories. Eating in Kongs with friends, food piled in the center of the table on a lazy susan, chilling downstairs in the Cork Room, listening to incredible acoustic musicians while enjoying the best lumpia in Olongapo, and, of course, walking down Magsaysay Dr. and paying street vendors 3 pesos for several sticks of the most delicious mystery meat barbecue.
I once went to one of my Filipino friends house for a BBQ. I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time having Filipino BBQ but wow, I was impressed. Tastiest chicken ever! And the best part was, they eat a lot so there is a lot of food to go around!
When I was a young dude, my main skateboarding buddy Sy was (still is) from a Filipino family. His folks spoke Tagalog at home, but to be fair my family spoke Polish and I would translate to Sy that same as he'd do for me. We spoke English together, but both our families were weird outsiders in our town, so we had a common thread outside of skating. My Mom did some dope American style BBQ chicken, but the skewers I got at Sy's were so bomb. I made the mistake of asking my mom to ask Sy's mom how to make them, and it was a venomous afternoon of Mom battle of who was the best momcook. Luckily our dads got along, since they both served in the Navy and liked the same beer, but I think I ruined it for our moms to ever get along after that summer, even though they're exactly the same, personality-wise. Come to think of it, that was probably the major wrench in the works, since they're both alpha boss females. The letter N isn't in their alphabet. It's just O followed by "you're right". I'm 41 years old and my mom still sarcastically asks if I want chicken skewers instead of "real chicken" when my wife and I visit the first time of the summer.
We had a block party in my neighborhood. All I can say everyone stopped by my house for some Filipino BBQ. It was an instant hit. I was glad my non-filipino neighbors enjoyed it
I ate Filipino BBQ almost every night for dinner while I was there. It's not like I didn't like anything else because that is untrue. It's just that those meat skewers are fucking amazing
I think next time i see a notification of this channel, im going to delay it to before dinner instead of after (unless its hot ones obviously :P). This video made me hungry again, no quick snacks in the house either, so yeah gonna have to deal with that a bit better ;)
We have like, 4 barbecue spots up here from 5 p.m to 1 a.m within 100 meters radius from our home. Needless to say, we're sort of crazy with our barbecue.
How do you choose the places you check out? Can I recommend Garden State Salad, Flemington NJ. It's a local all organic cafe which does fantastic homemade style food.
this guy seems so happy and enthusiastic about his food, that's what every chef should be like

patpatpat I have learned to literally never judge food till you taste it. Always ask ingredients though, for allergies reason 😊

plus the atchara (pickled papaya) on the side helps cut through the sweetness so it's not "nakakaumay"
My dad used to put 7-UP with his homemade Lumpia mix when I was a kid. Sigh... I miss my childhood.

It's diff from region to region. Some are good, some ehh..
Even if I've ordered from the same resto, sometimes its ok, sometimes meh
Justin S. I enjoy different BBQ from all parts in the Philippines. Each region has their charm.
I agree
What region are you from, originally ?
Justin S. Rizal. But I was raised in the US.
