  • In September 2023 Trangia released a new series of light weight camping stoves, Trangia Micro. They have the Trangia Micro Original with a spirit burner and the Trangia Micro Light, with a gel burner. The Micro Light only ways about 180 g/6,5 Oz, has a volume of 500 ml/17 Fl Oz, and is an option for those counting every gram/ounce, and do not need a kitchen to cook a full meal on.

    Good review, I got one from Amazon & added a Vargo folding mini windscreen. Thank you for sharing 👍

    I love my little micro. I’m going to see how far I can push it!
    Nice review. Thank you!

    I bought one and used the alcohol burner, and also managed to melt the handle a bit. I've put foil inside the stand and keep the handle lifted up when I use the stove, so the flames don't reach it as easily. I saw a video from Matthias Eriksson who showed a small Wilson fold-a-cup fits in the micro, so that might be worth looking at.
    That's a helpful video, cheers.

      Thanks! I'll check out Matthias' video. But you'd think Trangia would have put on some melt proof handles by now 😀

      Lol, you might have thought so!
      It's Wildo fold a cup btw, autocorrect was doing its thing for me.

    I love my micro so far!! Good review! However, I need to correct you on one thing... You called the "stove" a windshield... The Micro (and the 28) do not have windshields... The Micro comes with a pot, lid, burner (alcohol or gel), and stove

      Thank you! Quite a neat little thing. On Trangia’s website they state the parts as T-cup with lid, foldable handle, wind shield and burner.

      The windsheild is what the pot sits on and the gel tray sits inside

      Yeah Trangia also sell the windshield separately and call it windshield 😂

    Great review, i got the Micro or ordered it as soon as i got a message thatvit was available. Pushet the button faster than to realize that there was a Nicro Light as well. Woud have chosen the Light if i knew since i have a bunch of alcoburners allready. Keep it up and happy trails! 💪🔥

      @@InthewildwithChrisTackar!

    I got the micro. But ditched off the Trangia burner an added a tiny remote fee alcohol stove with a chicken wire stand and a thick foil windscreen. All fits inside of it including an ounce bottle or a ounce bottle and a half ounce bottle

      I’d love to see it, any chance of posting a video or photo of this setup?

      Actually redid that set up. After messing with it.
      I managed to get into it a remote feed alcohol stove with simmer ring from Batchstovez. Unfortunately he don’t make stoves anymore.
      But also One 2 ounce bottle of fuel for the remote feed, and two 1/2oz bottles of alcohol.
      One 5ml bottle of dish soap
      An Aluminium windscreen I cut out of a msr windscreen so like the super heavy duty foil.
      And 1/4 a bandana
      An atleast by feel. Feels around the same weight as it originally was but has the ability to have 3oz of fuel an soap in it an the bandanna.
      Probably still has just enough room for a mini bic lighter
      I also seasoned the pot with veg oil for a few rounds in the oven for a golden more non stick inside

      @@InthewildwithChrisI’m not really a video person but some point this week I’ll stick up a short or something. It’s packed full. But holds it all. I did stick two rubber bands each direction over it because one of the bottles is barely pushing on the lid. But it is fully closed though.

    Could gel be put straight into bottom of the windsheild to disgard the gel burner tray and make it even lighter

    • @InthewildwithChris
      @InthewildwithChris  9 месяцев назад +1

      It could work, but
      1 - I’m not sure of the thermo dynamics, maybe to much energy would be absorbed into the wind shield instead of heating the pot?
      2 - it doesn’t way that many grams to make any difference…

      Hi! A quick google shows a brand called Swissmar is available, but maybe it’s only for fondues or as a fire starter?

    The covering on the handle is removable.....

      Yeah, should have thought of that earlier. On my Trangia coffee pot I removed the handle before melting it 😄

      @@InthewildwithChrisWould silicon tubing prevent melting?

    • @InthewildwithChris
      @InthewildwithChris  9 месяцев назад

      @@JonJaeden Yes, you could probably remove the handle, slide on some silicon tubing, and reattach the handle. I'll give it a try, thanks!
