I like to see Colbert doing more show stuff - it comes quite naturally. Kimmel and Fallon also have these fun segments, but Colbert still keeps his class during these, I like that. :)
letterman and Ferguson never had this kind of showmanship together. This puts Colbert and Corden in a whole new level of late night talk show hosting category. This was amazing! I miss Letterman and I miss Ferguson, but I'll be honest, the new guys are certainly adequately filling the void they're intended to fill.
To be fair Craig have the cheapest budget in all them, his prev studio had leaks, the dude dont even have a band etc. It was amazing he lasted that long and still has a decent rating you imagine this guys doing that and he doesn't even have script or pre interviews!..im not hating on Corden but Craig still top it up for me..
... yes, it was so nicely put together! They got to surprise the audience for at least some initial seconds of the act ... Love watching the band players grin with delight (near end of performance).
I really dont think it was rehearsed. They are both well versed in musical theatre, and watch how they watch each other for cues, like when Stephen starts to walk over to the chair and James kinds looks around to see what is going to happen next. And when Stephen shakes his hand he kind of lifts James arm and they both go into a soft shoe number. And you can see James struggle for the words when he sings about what I said at the start.Just great entertainers, thats all.
The talent CBS has with their late night hosts in unreal. James and Stephen are such a fun duo and complement each other perfectly! They're going to rival NBC for sure.
I could never see Letterman pulling something like this off! Hats off to Stephen and James here! This was excellent! Very impressed by both Stephen and James' singing, too!
I absolutely love how Stephen manages to keep his show fresh and current whilst avoiding the late night trend of turning their talk shows into variety/game shows. Oh and this was a pretty damn impressive performance without all the cluttered, loud musical instruments Fallon has in his musical segments
+Mikhail Kalashnikov I like how Fallon has improved the Tonight Show over the old stale comedy of Jay Leno, but it's true that he relies way too much on these games that he does. However, he does get millions of views for them. I hope eventually Stephen's videos on here will garner just as many views, if not more, because Stephen should be the best. His ratings and views may not reflect it, but I think that'll change in time. I think it will be competitive, instead of Fallon dominating.
+Sshoestring63 Ellen does some kinda games but I guess she's not late night. Jimmy Kimmel did a family feud game with the avengers cast. But also if I wanted to watch a game show I would watch a game show. I watch "talk" shows for the interviews. But I like the sketches that Corden does.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this over the years. Watched it soon after it was initially uploaded. It still baffles me that it hasn’t got more recognition & views. I’d like to think it’s partly because Colbert didn’t have the audience he has now. The same can be said about Corden. Colbert didn’t have trump fully yet to build his popularity and Corden didn’t have Carpool Karaoke. If this was uploaded right now in 2020 it would easily do a million views in a day or two. But yet, 5 years later it still hasn’t. And it should have because it’s wholesome and enjoyable!!
Aren't we so lucky to have these classy talented men on tv each night??? What a treat. Like the ole days when men could sing and dance and brought class and elegance into people's homes. Thank you Stephen and James....
This is so much fun to watch! I hit "repeat" so many times. Fallon and Meyers would never do this together. It makes me think about all the cool acts that the Ed Sullivan Theater hosted back in the 1950s. I think the dancing is what did it for me! :-D
Like the wallpaper sticks to the wall Like the seashore clings to the sea Like you'll never get rid of your shadow Steve [referring to Stephen], you'll never get rid of me Let all the others fight and fuss Whatever happens, we've got us. (Me and my shadow ) We're closer than pages that stick in a book We're closer than ripples that play in a brook (Strolling down the avenue ) Wherever you find him, you'll find me, just look Closer than a miser or the bloodhounds to Liza (Me and my shadow ) We're closer than smog when it clings to L.A. We're closer than Jay-Z is to Beyoncé Not a soul can bust this team in two We stick together like glue And when it's sleeping time That's when we rise We start to swing What a surprise They ring-a-ding-ding! Happy New Year! (Me and my shadow ) And now to repeat what I said at the start They'll need a large crowbar to break us apart We're alone but far from blue Before we get finished, we'll make the town roar We'll make all the late spots, and then a few more We'll wind up at Jilly's right after Toot's Shore Life is gonna be we-wow-whee! For my shadow and me!
They killed it man. I've lost count to how many times I've watched this.
+manai same.
same LOL
manai same!! One of my favorite, favorites moments.
Overrated .
Maybe you should watch Robbie Williams just to hear how that sounds when done professionally
That was awesome. I love it when Stephen sings with his guests. They harmonized together very well.
Stephen's tie matches James' suit and vice versa - i'm deriving way too much pleasure from that
Yep
I like to see Colbert doing more show stuff - it comes quite naturally. Kimmel and Fallon also have these fun segments, but Colbert still keeps his class during these, I like that. :)
When James hits the high chord!!!!
They did a good job making this seem genuinely impromptu at first
James has a nice singing voice
+Jordan Caldwell You have to watch him in History Boys (warning: sad ending).
Watch Into the Woods.
+cofcchick I still wish Hugh Jackman played the Baker.
+Henry Barnill Why? He's not right for it- maybe as one of the princes, or the wolf, but not the Baker.
+Andrew Horn He did sing the Baker's part in a rendition of No One Is Alone. Search it.
I just shed a happy tear for the appreciation of old style music and dance.
Love the matching colour scheme! Colbert and Corden classing up late night.
I would have never noticed that
letterman and Ferguson never had this kind of showmanship together. This puts Colbert and Corden in a whole new level of late night talk show hosting category. This was amazing! I miss Letterman and I miss Ferguson, but I'll be honest, the new guys are certainly adequately filling the void they're intended to fill.
Corden isn't fit to wipe Ferguson's ass.
+Litetaker Ferguson was a late night god. Corden is just meh.
adequate? Are you sure? Cuz well, Dave and Craig would never do a song and dance number, or sing with the musical guests..
I don't watch Cordon anyway, Just Colbert
2:07 YASSS JAMES KILL IT 👏👏, this just made me love a lot more which is kinda impossible 😍
More entertaining and sweeter than any Lip Sync Battle.
+Victor Kong this is how late night television is supposed to be
+Victor Kong It's amazing how he can make look it wasn't rehearsed. with all the stuttering.. "umm umm what should we sing.."
... yes, it was so nicely put together!
It was rehearsed. Stephen didn't just pull the line about JayZ out of his butt.
The talent CBS has with their late night hosts in unreal. James and Stephen are such a fun duo and complement each other perfectly! They're going to rival NBC for sure.
Some excellent wardrobe coordination between their suits and ties and each other.
I could never see Letterman pulling something like this off! Hats off to Stephen and James here! This was excellent! Very impressed by both Stephen and James' singing, too!
LOVE when they bring in their broadway roots! They are actually very cool, triple threats.
+Mikhail Kalashnikov is it really a trend? I don't see anyone else doing the game show thing with their late night shows besides fallon.
Sshoestring63 James Corden
+Sshoestring63 Ellen does some kinda games but I guess she's not late night. Jimmy Kimmel did a family feud game with the avengers cast. But also if I wanted to watch a game show I would watch a game show. I watch "talk" shows for the interviews. But I like the sketches that Corden does.
That was one of the best things I've ever seen in my life :)
Ditto!!
+Sarang P I got so addicted i literally just listen to it day and night XD
+Sarang Park Try watching the Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. version ;)
Check when Frank and Sammy did it. Much better than this (which is already amazing)
The way James Corden sings "shadow" from 1:30 to 1:32 gives me chills 👌🏼
These two are doing great things for television.
This made me unreasonably happy
Hell ya James, you betta slay that vocal lol.
I love them -- and I love Jon Batiste's (and the percussion's) accompaniment, which makes them feel / sound that much better.
Corden is just adorable. Hope he has ever greater success.
Stephen hitting "sea" at 0:49 gives me chills.
Omg same that was soo good😍
Dude, Batiste is boss! So, so, so happy he got that gig! He's so musically knowledgeable it's ridiculously awesome!
Why didn't I discover this clip sooner?! This is my new go-to "happy video"!
Somewhere in a deep dark alley a lonely Jon Stewart stares into the darkness. A single solitary tear rolls down his face.
I normally hate singing bits on late night, but this was really good.
I've listened to this about 50 times in the past 5 days ... Love it! Such great chemistry and talent
Did you notice the ties? They are matching with what each other are wearing. Totally adorable.
Ah good to see people still coming back to see this!
September 2020!
watched this 50 times somehow over the course of 2 months
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this over the years. Watched it soon after it was initially uploaded. It still baffles me that it hasn’t got more recognition & views.

Man I can't stop just rewatching this video, I want to like it more than once.
!!!! THEIR SUITS MATCH I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!
.james is pretty chill
I'm so happy that this exists! :DDDDDDD
I come back to see Corden's innocence, Jon and his glorious piano, the band's joy, Colbert & Corden's harmony ..
James corden is my spirit animal
"Oh Jeez I don't know what we should sing oh this is so spontaneous and unplanned"
*cue the perfect harmonies and dance moves*
COLBERT. ALBUM. 2016.
yes
Warmed my heart watching these two stars sing a number
This is so my favorite late show, and the only one that I can really say I can't get enough of.
Next Years Tony Awards Hosts?
That would be so cool!
+Brian Swann Stephen did sang on Tony Awards before!!And he has excellent sing in musical "Company" (play Harry)
I've been saying Corden should host the Tony's for months, and after this, the two of them should totally host together!
yes!
Someone make this happen.
I Just Could Not Stop Pressing Replay.
That was a hell of a great duet!! More singing and more swing, please! ;D
Stephen please sing more often !!
Colbert's Voice, wow!
This was insanely great, made me smile till my cheeks hurt. Love these two guys!
Such amazing voices!
WOW............... that was Fantastic!!... They both were Great!!.. and as usual, James Corden never ceases to amaze with his Musical Talent!!! wow!!
I love that their suits and ties are inverted!
The James and Colbert alliance has begun.
Never forget Stew-bert!
+Rayna H Stewbert for life, my number one shipping
+Rayna H kisses booboo
+Big Nasty Hey, Corden! Why don't you push him in?
You can always say it was me. ~ Hannibal ;)
This makes me really happy. I love that you can have fabulousness on the show, great interviews and hilarity!!!
Best late night duo by far! Cant go wrong.
It's rare like.. Rare rare
It's RAW
That was really nice :) !
I love how their suits are inverse to each other. Clever touch!
Aren't we so lucky to have these classy talented men on tv each night??? What a treat. Like the ole days when men could sing and dance and brought class and elegance into people's homes. Thank you Stephen and James....
I have watched this too many times, I love it so much , I love when stephen sing "down the Avenue" I think it's so smooth an beautiful
Stephen's tie matches James' suit - adorable. Also, they need to host an awards show.
I remembered this video out of nowhere 10 sec ago and felt a craving to watch it. Happens every now and then. I cant explain it. :)
Love everything about this. Including the fact that their outfits match
I hope this get's a lot of views
+r4hul101 i m sure you will get a lot of likes :-)
+DBJULY83 I hope a lot of people see your comment :o
+r4hul101 lol only 100K. its been 3 days.
nah sadly the kiddies like the jimmys better
the jimmys aren't too bad but stephen is the real deal
+good afternoon jimmy just laughs at his own jokes.
(Kimmel right?)
I didn't realize how much I needed this.
this is so old school late night television of them lol
Love the matching suits
Real Talent at it's Finest.
"We'll wind up at Jilly's right after Toots Shor."
You can see James Corden sing "Jimmy's."
This was the absolute best I have heard James' voice. And how did I not know that Stephen could sing??!!?
Who's here after Jericho and MJF on AEW?
Me
Yoooooo
Wow, they harmonize well!
There's nothing like a fake spontaneous song and dance routine. Great job guys!
i need the full version of this O_O. it is so upbeat and funny
Old stuff never looses its charm...
I will keep my antique puertorrican TV on just for both! I already have a crush with both. Thanks CBs!!! Lots of luv from PR!
How about a carpool karaoke with James and Stephen??? I'd watch that!
Stephen Colbert is the only person who is not a professional singer who I consistently love to hear sing.
So perfect together this is just so beautiful, always coming back to this!
0:46 damn Stephen sounds so much like Lou Reed on this verse
Love the co-ordination of the suits. Just me?
Great TV from James & Stephen...
I miss Jon and his extraordinary music catalogue. I miss the sound of the piano.😥
hell yeah that's music
The matching suit/tie-combos ... that's just that little bit extra that makes this even better!
Corden: burgundy suit, black tie. Colbert: black suit, burgundy tie. Illuminati confirmed.
The song is so relevant because their show is one after another... Like a shadow 😂
Ladies & gentlemen that was brilliant
the last my shadow from cordon is fantastic
How lovely!!!! These two guys are ruling late nights now!!!!
this was adorable< james corden
This was the most amazing video I've ever seen. They are both so talented
This video made me smile. Love those two!
Stephen is in really good shape.
Both of them sang the song harmoniously. Kudos to both of them. Hope to see more of this with other presenter.
This is so much fun to watch! I hit "repeat" so many times. Fallon and Meyers would never do this together. It makes me think about all the cool acts that the Ed Sullivan Theater hosted back in the 1950s. I think the dancing is what did it for me! :-D
Like the wallpaper sticks to the wall

I nearly cried
I love this!
