Repair Success Story from a Customer:
My LG TV would not turn on but flashed the LG logo for about a half second on complete re-power. Voltage readings on the main power board would sag even with downstream components disconnected (80VDC would drop to ~65 volts. 13 VDC would drop to ~11 Volts). I thought the power supply was bad. A helpful note from shop Jimmy warned of the exact symptoms. A follow up note pointed me to the known issue with LED strips. Combined with the ShopJimmy LED tester, I pinned down the exact problem and ordered replacement LED strips (24 for my model 65UH5500). With careful disassebly referencing a ShopJimmy RUclips video, I’m back in business. Only one LED strip was actually bad (a $4.75 part) but I certainly would recommend replacing all strips after going through the trouble to disassemble the entire set. Thanks ShopJimmy
Includes complete set of 24 strips.

Thank you for the video. But how do you know which led strip is faulty and need to be changed?
Thank you for the video and link for the led strips. My wife and I were able to fix our tv without too much trouble.
Please show us how did you keep the screen?
Thank you!! following your video and a couple more from other creators I was able to fix my lg 65um7100pla using a new KIT of lights bought from aliexpress...
How much does this normally cost. I don’t trust myself fixing it
Was looking for a project to do, but this is a lot of work. I don't know if it's worth it for my 2.5 year old 50in 4K LG that I bought from Best Buy for $299. Damn TV has blue haze all over it.
The left side of my lg65uh5500 is dim, will replacing the led strips fix it?
I'm getting ready to do this now, just got backlights from you a couple days ago so we'll see how it goes....😳
Jeff Stone update??
@@luciolynx5443 I installed the backlights a few weeks ago, not complicated but a little time consuming, a lot of small screws to remove, and the picture looks like a brand new TV although now I have a few tiny vertical lines running through the picture on the far left side now. I think I accidentally flexed the screen a little too much when I opened it like a book. I was working by myself and didn't use suction cups to make sure that the screen didn't flex so I think that it what happened. If you do this make sure that the screen doesn't flex much because I think it can kill some of your pixels. The lines are so thin though that we don't even pay attention to them now...
Jeff Stone thanks for the update, going to attempt this on my 60” LG tv, I’ll definitely keep the glass suction cups on the wishlist, found some for about 7 bucks each 👍.
@@luciolynx5443 I opted to leave the ribbon cables coming from the main screen attached and opened it like a book because it looked like there was a lot more to take off in order to take the screen completely off. I think it's ok to do it that way as long as you're very careful not to flex the screen much and be careful about pulling on the ribbon cables if you leave them attached. When I got finished and put everything back together to test the TV I didn't have a picture, I'd accidentally pulled a ribbon cable slightly loose opening it like a book. If you do it this way I would suggest someone help you with it because it's a big cumbersome screen to handle by yourself and those ribbon cables can be a pain to plug back in properly, you gotta hold your mouth just right, lol....
How much is the charge to fix this problem ?? Thank you !! Great video
thanks for the video. it would have been a nice conclusion to this video to show the tv powering on and working at the end...
Fr lol
The unit is a tester, so it doesn’t function. The video said that the scan boards are missing.
Can you say the number of strips I would need for LG 65 smart tv 65uk6090pua. The Jimmy site only sells 4 strips is that enough my tv has gone blue

Where do You have Source PCBs from LCD screen? It looks like they are cut. If so, LCD is unuseable.

This Video literally skips the most important part
Why put a video of you replacing parts without having all the components to show how to remove each one? Real question
to much work I'll buy another TV thanks anyway lol
Great video, thanks!! But pease don't use that monotonous music or anything similar to it on future videos. All that repetition can drive people crazy. I want to hear you, not that mind numbing crap. And this is coming from someone in there 20s.
Come on really? Who is going to do all this? What a crappy product! I liked Sony, it was just removing a cartridge and putting in a new one...This product sucks...
This is a common issue with these TVs. It’s a simple fix that’s better than buying a brand new tv. I’ll be doing this in a few days. Just some perspective on why someone would. Kinda fun too.
@@jmech2298 well, Elvis...I took mine out to the dumpster...I got a new TV and haven't thought about it since....It all worked out and I couldn't be happier....I hope u enjoy performing needless complicated surgery on your set...Don't forget the suction cups...
