How do these supposed professional AFL comentators not know the way the elicit drugs programme works, but I do. By treating the issue as one of health and welbeing until a "third strike" allows players to not be "hung" for one mistake, and also to recover/rehabilitate in the instance of an ongoing issue in private. This to me, seems like a sensible system that errs on the side of caution and player welfare (the performance enhancing drugs policy of WADA is an entirely seperate issue, to what is currently, supposedly, a "bombshell" - maybe only to the clueless media). I think the state and federal governments have an obligation to immediately pull any and all funding allocated by them to the AFL.
Who said anything about stopping the players getting help? This entire model is about allowing the players to get help discreetly rather than splashing it all over the media. Club doctors are clued in on the players results precisely so they can be treated.

Im starting to wonder now as a dockers supporter because we always have injuries thar grow from 1 week, to 4, to 8 into the season, sean darcy right nows a great example.
The Bombers did not need testing as they admitted to use of a sympathomimetic agent to enhance performance. As a doctor, I can assure you all excitatory drugs permanently stress the valves in the cardiac system. The consequences of the latter may not manifest until later years. Players need to be better educated about the irrevesible damage to the heart. They will not want to get puffed out climbing stairs at age 40.
You're not a doctor, bro; searching Google doesn't make you any more qualified than the rest of us
@@Alby911I understand you are a leftist, and immune to fact. So nothing on earth is going to enlighten you. But I am a doctor, and have as much right as you have to render an opinion. If you disagree then do so...no need to make silly statements about my profession.
Your profile page is a dead giveaway. You are not a doctor - so stop pretending to be something you're not. @@TheBinaryWolf

LMAO. Did you ask GPT to write that out@@TheBinaryWolf
This is keystone cops stuff, so players are suspended from playing because they have taken drugs, so therefore why are not being suspended for it? Melbourne Footballer Joel Smith is being suspended but the players whom have taken drugs are not? What is the difference? And again it's Mr do nothing Richard Goyder. This guy pops up making blunders everywhere.
Players just self report and do drugs when ever they want. Only industry to be supported this well in taking coke mid week. Wonder why everyone thinks Dee's have major issues. Also says why Oliver doesn't play for months last year
The reporter trying to blindly take the afl’s side, gets asked a legitimate question by Tim re: shouldn’t sydney know re: unwritten policy which is exactly what the reporter just said and then he gets flustered. Not sure who the ‘reporter’ is but absolutely pathetic. Your job is to report, not editorialise. If there is an agreement in place as he suggested then all clubs would know about it. So then, either Harley is lying or the AFL.
Now let's see how clubs cop what essendon copped not one I bet .
No other club is that moronic🤔
Must be a painfully slow news week for this to be dredged back up with a sensationalist headline attached. There's nothing that has been revealed here that wasn't publicly broadcast ten of fifteen years ago.
The bot farms are well and truly out in force today 🤡
Everyone does recreational drugs, my bloody parents do it. All my mates do it.
No, they don't! You are surrounded by muppets😉
@@azzajames7661 80% of people I know have done it or do it regularly. I'm mates with a lot of Bartenders 😂
You're completely missing the point in all this, AFL protecting players from getting caught by Wada is what's at play. Everyone can agree that recreational drug use is widespread, but doesn't mean that it should ever be accepted
Are the AFL seriously going to, with a straight face, suggest that covering up, illicit drug use by their players, ensuring that clubs both do not find out about it, and those individuals are unable to get the help. They actually need was the right thing to do? This is so far beyond the realm of acceptable conduct by an organisation it is actually absurd.
@@jaredburgess8381yeah they are helping the players by promoting drug abuse and a drug culture. They cover up your mess and give you a pat on the back. Another issue is there's zero transparency. You don't have to throw players under the bus but to be caught out lying and in a conspiracy like this at least have the data to show this amount of players have done it once. This amount of players reoffended and it's helped this amount of players through their issues. But they don't. It's no wonder bomber Thompson was a drug trafficker and the AFL have been found out to be in a couple of cover ups over the years. Makes you wonder what else is going on behind closed doors.
The AFL Crucified Ben, and yet he never tested positive, honestly you do know its ilegal to take drugs so why aren't they getting charged.
Didn't he jump in a ditch to swim from the police? 😄
@Magooch86 Yes, he did, but with Ben, he was hung out to dry by the AFL for all to see scapegoat. Melbourne players have been protected by the AFL drug policy and kept secret.
@@Magooch86 It was the Swan River, and it’s massive and he still managed to swim across it, he was so off his head.
BoycotttheAFL!!!
Shades of West Coast
So Mitch Duncan was a having a baby??? Likely story he was Rollin up Notes doing lines lol😅 nah but you can see what I did there....stamp out drugs zero tolerance and send a definite message to the community as a whole.
As a Essendon supporter "This stinks beyond belief" 👟🏉 💊
AFL is rigged. But serious ban the players on drugs.
They tested positive for bullshit(ting everyone) though. Listen to the hot mic stuff and get back to me
Everyone does illicit drugs including the 3 guys talking here. Who gives a shit
Meh
Will the AFL:
- PR spin this to a positive thing
- Deny allegations
- Admit fault
AFL can not DUCK this. Anti inflammatories are an issue
Been a coke culture for decades now lol
What substances players use, provided they are not 'performance enhancing' is nobody else's business. They all talk about having a beer after the game, training etc, alcohol being the worst drug on the planet and it's all good. The hypocricy in all of this is staggering.
All BS!
The issue is less about having a beer, and more that cocaine is a banned substance if it's caught in your system when you are playing.
I.e., if you test positive for cocaine on Matchday, and you weren't flagged, you'd be in breach of the drug code, so by pulling players of prior to a match, they are circumventing the drug code.
It's staggering that you truly don't understand what is happening. So you condone the AFL protecting players so they don't get caught by Wada? Drug use is a disease and should never ever be accepted
