Interesting guy, and far more than a magician/mentalist/illusionist or whatever he's known for. Also incredibly well read and a terrific painter.
He should get credit for how well of a public speaker he is too.
I discovered Derren thanks to RUclips. I'm glad some of his shows are also on Netflix. I love to hear him talk about his craft and just what makes him think. Love this man!

Derrin is so emotionally sensitive - i imagine he doesn't attach to anyone, for fear of dissapointment. I mean fragile. He's very likeable. Super intelligent. Honest personality. Humble even. If you had a pet, that was not a human, you'd opt for a "Derrin personality"...because, you'd have the company without the volatility/aggression (hopefully).
It's always so great to hear from Derren. Always interesting, always lovely.

Wow - that interviewer was desperate to talk about himself, and how he was just like Derren. SO cringey.
His name is Steve Allen. He is an egocentric tosspot who does the graveyard shift from 4am. Man loves himself.

You're utterly deranged. And you have clearly never in your life heard any radio or podcasts. They are partly supposed to make their voice clearly hearable and kind of monotone - and some are putting it on thickly, however this guy doesn't compared to anyone else. You're just one of the regular irrational assholes who make overly vague, unverifiable asshole statements in comments based on their warped perception and underdeveloped mind and character. You're just an animal "ecosystem" phenonemon, albeit a negative one.

Coincedentally I too dont have a TV. I havent owned one for over 20 years. Its liberating. I owned one for about 18 months back in the 90's but thats it.

Right, and so many channels of shit on the TV to choose from- as Pink Floyd said/sang so many years ago. The TV channels are generally damaging, like so much of the mainstream media.

Have a guest on and spend most of the time speaking yourself rather than letting your audience listen to the guest. Interrupt your guest, every answer, cutting him off to one word replies, then go back to to talking about yourself.

So many interviews with Derren and so many wants to know where and what he "took" it from... Maybe... just maybe... Derren invented a lot of his own stuff... sure he got suggestions (which he is a master of) but maybe just maybe he actually did think most of the stuff he is doing with out that much help...

Good lord the questioning about the tv was cringey as hell.
Not had one since leaving home when I was 18, no utility... 95% pure drivel and that 5% you can get online anyway. That said perhaps the interviewer is correct, it's no wonder I ended up with a head full of ThoughtCrime. Someone please think of the children! TVs keep families together! Only oddball subversives do not stare into the prole-box!

TV ratings just show how much people do not watch normal television anymore. A good example of the Tonight Show on NBC, during the Johnny Carson era of the 60s, 70s and 80s, nearly 20 million tuned in each night. In 2016, the current host Jimmy Fallon scrapes 3.5 million viewers. Prime time shows in Britain used to attract 15-20 million viewers in the 70s, today they are lucky to top 10 million at best, with the current UK season of X Factor down to around 6 million each week.
As an American, I notice these Brits pronounce RUclips as “you choob”.

Derren also works many nights with his theatre show, so he probably does not have much time for television.
I only occasionally watch TV, most of it is trash. But I do spend far too much time online. I should spend more time with nature. I'm with Derren on the frog going horizontally from pad to pad, rather than grasping for the vertical ladder, according to social convention, not our own open minds and happiness in the moment.
Nature is good. Spend time outside, it makes times slow down (in a good way)

EpicBunty I don't know that he's stupid, he's just been inculcated and like a parrot is repeating what he was taught. Now it remains for him to respond with the reason why he believes that. Some really good evidence please, as that's quite a claim.

+troliolol lol He was probably tired from doing the stage shows. I do not know if this aired in the morning? If it was, I know Derren detests mornings and always said he did magic, so that he could work at nights and sleep in on mornings and not have to get up early.
