Thank you for posting this - I hadn't seen this interview before. Derren is one of my absolute heroes. Aside from the fact that his work is simply breathtaking, I love the fact that he is never unkind to people - he teases and has fun, he certainly makes us aware of our fallibility, but is never cruel or belittling. Hero at 30,000 Feet and Apocalypse, in particular, both took people whose lives were in a rut and made them discover something quite extraordinary in themselves. Even Assassin, Gameshow and Pushed to the Edge, which on the face of it seemed quite brutal, made the participants (certainly this viewer!) look at themselves with renewed thoughtfulness. The thoroughness and attention to detail in the shows is exquisite. There are very few famous people I would care to meet, but Derren Brown and Stephen Fry are most definitely on my list!!
Sharon Roache I have met him too and he is one of the most humblest charming and gentlest people you could meet. Really polite and happy to talk to you without any deluded sense of self importance or arrogance. He also does this really cute little nod with his head every so often 💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️
@@greenkitty82 you couldn't have said it better it was only a short meeting but left a good impression. A gentleman . Well mannered and so sweet remembered my name . I didn't want to bother him too long alot of younger starstruck fans. Who kinda grated on me . A little bit. Would love to have chatted as person to person .
This is the most relaxed and vulnerable I've ever seen Darren. Almost like being a real person. He obviously knows the interviewer very well being this comfortable.
This is how he is in his everyday life, very humble and chill bloke. His energetic and formal persona is purely character for performance. I remember seeing him on the extras of a dvd, eating a full English and looked shy when the camera was on him. I'd definitely recommend the recent podcast with him, he's a different man these days
PolemicContrarian Legit if he isn’t lying in all his shows about the extent of what is real he could literally destroy the competition in any field like he would be a great politician, marketer, lawyer, psychologist, pretty much everything
Derren Brown interview_Rare unseen. seans right until you see it have been watched more than 50 000 times. i cant say UNSEEN rather it is rather SEEN alot.
i would really like to see derren do more exposures of "psychics" i just watched "infamous" and he echoed the exact words i use about them, that they are despicable for targeting the vulnerable, the whole astology / tarot / psychic / medium thing needs to be put to bed for good, it's harmless in some instances, but people take this information to heart and act on it when it has no substance, the thick end of the wedge is that there are churches with congregations that believe they have been cursed by witches and want those witches to burn, that's christian churches in the 21st century, i kid you not, susperstition needs to be unpacked. derren does great shows, like his sense of humour, love that is concerned about the participants. more please sir.
Derren brought me on stage at one of his shows in Belfast alot of years back...got me to write a word on a piece of paper. Under his coat sellotaped to his back he had an envelope with a word on it. I wrote GUITAR His said ALPHABET Trick botched. Lol If you had seen his face
He does mention it in 2 of his books, tricks of the mind and confessions of a conjuror. It came up early on when he was learning and starting out in hypnosis at Uni. When trying to influence compliance in someone he would nod to agree with the person. It soon turned into a twitch which comes up on stage in front of thousands or with one interviewer. He admits in the books its now a nervous thing. The books are a really good read if you're a fan :)
Sophie I'm intrigued too... apparently as a kid.. he had many more tics... but got rid of those.... the nodding persists. He used to sniff loudly... and couldn't stop himself.
Pick pocketing is one of my favourite pranks on my friends. OP did, too. And so did I! I think it's okay as our minds are trained to read clickbait titles now. See: Rare Unseen; Infer: not a massively well-known interview in which some subjects rarely discussed are covered. His title is catchier, too.
@@rageagainstmyhairline5574 I think it should be titled "Rarely seen interview as of the date of this upload but may well be viral by the time you are watching it in which case it will be neither rare nor unseen."
Guy Hollingsworth (interviewer) is also a magician. In their books, they refer to each other taking the p*ss with articulate banter. I'd be surprised if there was anything other than respect here.
That might be true, there is not much banter hear, so i don't get the feeling these too are friends, but I'd guess Guy could just not be in the mood for it at that time some reason.
I'd hazard a guess that it's simply his style that doesn't come across the same as an interviewer, but flourishes as a stand alone drawing room magician.
True a lot of comedians and prefers are really boring in real life like just watch an interview with Harry Hill, he's really serious as Matthew Keith Hall (his real name BTW)
Derren won definitely in this conversation. I observed him carefully, and I noticed some unconscious interesting gestures, but WHAT THE HECK could be even unconsciousness in Derren?! :) Anyway, it was at his home, or somewhere else? Thank you for sharing this interview!
I know this comment is ancient, but I think you're referring to the head nodding. He wrote in a book that he started doing that for mentalism and stuff, but now it's more of a nervous twitch.
at 2:35 obvious lie by Derren - clue 1: "I DO NOT" instead of "I don't" - Clue 2: Touching the nose - clue 3: Check out his eyes (Thank you derren for teaching me, love u)
Zouhir Hamada why should he regret? It seems like he stand firm on the fact that being a lawyer was a total waste of time without sounding belitteling towards the interviewer since he is a lawyer.
Is that a dead dog on the couch? That's quite odd. Come to the US, Utah, Salt Lake City, specifically, one of your shows would fill up night after night, we LOVE illusionists here!
I guess it’s me but I wonder if that nervous energy he claims to have is part of why he talks so fast ? I personally would like him to slow down a little bit but that’s his normal speed so I should catch up .

Arcane Wisdom TV And that’s a fair perspective, but for me, I’m not interested in illusions or reality television, I only enjoy the psychological manipulation possible through hypnosis, suggestion, etc. So if I can’t tell if I’m seeing psychological manipulation, illusion, or just the prosaic tricks of television showmanship, it doesn’t do anything for me. That’s just me, though. No doubt he puts on a great show and is a likable and engaging showman, so I understand why many people would enjoy him.

I'm intrigued about Derren's nodding thing -- is it a random reflex, or something more mysterious? o.O
