Coby Halverson Seriously, there’s still way too many coming out for free likes. I worked so hard on a level that basically lets you test the new masks in the 3D World artstyle. I uploaded that level yesterday and not ONE person has played it yet. (Probably because of World Maker) But it’s so frustrating that those levels get to the top, despite the repetitiveness
I played that game a lot when I was younger and it still holds a special place in my heart. My siblings would play it with me and we'd get so mad at each other because we had no team coordination and completing a single level was always a challenge.
I thought everyone liked that game, it really started getting repetitive in NSMB2, but I don’t care if a game doesn’t introduce a new gimmick or something, as long as it has new levels I’d buy it.
Nope. And here are SOME of them reasons why: - You can buy moons which is fucking stupid, it makes the moons a joke and a collectible which requires no challenge. - 2 kingdoms are incomplete, Cloud and Ruined. Cap kingdom is also just a boring tutorial with no real content. - 70% of the moons are literal garbage. Just hanging over the ground waiting to be collected, or a fucking repeated goomba moon, rock moon, seed moon, ground pound moon, loops tracing moons, fishing moons, or any of the other shitty repeated non challenging moons. - Many games have better music, Galaxy 1 and 2, 3d world, etc. - It has no challenge at all, this goes hand in hand with the repeated garbage moons. Being able to buy moons etc. - The boss fights are mostly underwhelming. - The post game content is literal garbage. The extra moons are just copy pasted shit with no effort put into them. - Cappy is a lame companion with no backstory or character. The captures are often not fun, Goomba, Moving a tree, Tank, frog, etc. Why are they not fun? Because they have extremely basic abilities and they don't let you platform, which is what the game should be about. You realize that the game is not very good when you take a good view at how much copypasted shit is in this game. There are so much better Mario games, with actual tight platforming, good bosses, music, and different (Non copied) challenges.
nah i think it feels more like a tech demo and not a game, it is just too easy, I beat it in 2 days. But maybe it is because I beat a game as fast as possible.
The Rebel I mean like 2 of the things you said are true. Maybe you think that but I really think it has a good challenge and is very fun. Also, about Cappy, NEVER DISRESPECT CAPPY. HE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN ANY MARIO GAME.
You know, I really love Rosalina (mostly because of her storybook and the galaxy games being my favorite Mario games) but I would love to see a video of you explaining why you hate Rosalina so much

SMB3 simply defined 2D platforming games , with powerup variety, a map system with secrets. It is liked because it is a foundation on how to make a good game without being too complex and easy to pick up.It's not that it's the best game ever per sei, but its influence changed a lot gaming
They could definitely improve it because some of what he said is true, but Mario 3 gets it reputation for a reason. I personally prefer Mario World, but Mario 3 is still a great game.
Now that it's been a few years, more people are beginning to look at it more critically. I think the biggest flaw the game has is how moons don't feel as significant as stars did in the older 3D games. In Galaxy, you felt accomplished when you got a star. Sure, they varied wildly on their difficulties, but each one took at least SOME amount of time and effort. In Odyssey meanwhile, there are so many moons that their value starts to feel less. I don't feel satisfied when I get a moon. Even when they're difficult to obtain, you get the same reward for say, just ground pounding on a shiny spot. That makes them feel worthless imo, and it's a glaring flaw that was previously never a problem.
Odessy: I feel like the character always goes the other way I'm expecting when I hit them with falling Nair. Also Odessy: Gets successful falling Nair combo 15 seconds later 2:48
Unpopular opinion: 3D world had the BEST Bowser fight. Climbing up a tower into space while Bowser goes all out, using your own powerups against you and duplicating himself over and over again only for it to end with a huge pow explosion rather than just him falling into a hot fiery object. And then instead of just saving the sprixies and going down you go even HIGHER into space. It's a masterpiece of a game with a climactic ending. (and the music is wonderful)
The SMG series bosses are really cool, in the story. The bosses themselves are alright, but the story is amazing! Fighting Bowser in the center of the universe, or climbing a giant doomsday machine with all sorts of defences on it, that's cool. And the boss music is absolutely incredible and epic. Actually the entire games music is awesome! Unpopular opinion: star festival theme is best.
@@stargamer8878 Well yeah. SMB3 is AMAZING compared to SMB. I still don't know how it's on the NES. But then again, it's on the NES, so there were MAJOR hardware limitations.
@@therebel4630 actually dedicated servers would be a bad move, Since it would delay, At least for smash, I think the net coding is the issue, Built with japanese cities in mind rather than any area. This is all hearsay so, I could be off about a few things

8:40 Totally agreed!!! NSMBW is SOOOO underated!!! Also I think SMB3 is a great game (not all levels are the best). But some of the level designs are pretty fun and creative. Also I love your channel! Stay safe!!!
Wii was my first mario game And 3rd I ever played first 2 games were dkcr and Wii sports I was thinking I might just be blinded by nostalgia but looks like I'm definitely wrong
the reason everyone likes rosalina is because of the galaxy games. She was such an important character. Her backstory and everything. She suck to play with but I liker her as a character cause of the galaxy games. Also Galaxy 1 and 2 are both the best Mario games imo.
Yeah I completely agree, the Mario galaxy games where my childhood so I have a pretty high opinion on rosalina as she was really important and easily one of the more memorable Mario characters.
Odyssey and MANY other mario games are better than gaalaxy, i played that game, and liked it, rosalinas backstory ia cool and all, but its not close to being the best mario game, you all are just biased because of nostalgia
12:58 It’s because the online itself just doesn’t work. Edit: I agree that SMB3 is overrated. There was something about the controls that I hated, however I couldn’t figure out why. I was worried that I was just used to the NSMB series, but I played Mario world and that game felt great. Edit: okay I’m almost done with Mario 3 and my opinions switched entirely.
I have use online in so many games. The only ones I have problems with is mario maker 2 and smash bros. But those are only two games, it's like saying a video game sucks just because you don't like two levels
The controls in SMB3 can feel very weird after playing the new soups and especially SMW But after you get over that it is super fun and has immense depth
I felt the exact same way. I used to not give Mario 3 enough credit because I was used to the physics of NSMB. Then, I got a hold of the game's physics, and all of a sudden I can see why everyone loves it. World 8-Fort is a bad level though
I think the first worlds are great, but it starts becoming little Timmy troll levels after a while. The castle design was awful. But the first few worlds were alright
dry bones was excluded and was oringinally is smash so i bet we get is smash ultimate sequal or dlc fighter dont hate on my 2 favorite plushies i have btw
for me it’s the compatibility between consoles and is easily customizable. I have many different shell types and love the different color combos (and just generally being able to fix any issues I have with the controller)
I pretty much only see people hating on Pokemon Sword and Shield, so I don't think your opinion on that is unpopular. But an unpopular opinion you do have is the one on Super Mario Bros. 3, which I actually agree with. I played it some time ago, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. I think the only old 2D Mario game I really like is Super Mario World.
Unpopular Opinion: Being the first game in a series does not put it on a pedestal as the "one that started it all". The first one can be one of the best but there has to be more reasons than it was the first one.
Your totally right bro for example Super Mario 64 isnt that great (camera,control,aesthetic,est....) but it seems like everyone is saying that it is the best mario 3d evermade
Gideon Freeman and the face button layout makes much more sense. also the sticks are great with the notches and the c stick is perfect for flicking instead of a huge stick
Unpopular Opinions: #1 Skyward Sword is highly underrated and has the best story in any Zelda game. #2 Majora’s Mask is better than Ocarina of Time(don’t hate oot, just prefer mm) #3 SMB1 and lost levels are better than 3. #4 Bulbasaur is the best gen 1 starter. #5 If given the choice, I’d rather have a new 2d Metroid than prime 4, but in a perfect world we’d have both. #6 Super Paper Mario wasn’t the start of paper Mario’s decline, it was purely sticker star. #7 Wii U was an amazing console that was doomed to fail. #8 Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks weren’t bad, just the controls weren’t ideal.
I definitely agree with you about the Gamecube controllers. Personally, I love them and most of that is to nostalgia, but I think that the controller doesn't really trump its alternatives. As for the not using N64 controllers, I think this is because people have most of their smash nostalgia with the Gamecube because mele was just a generally bigger hit then smash 64 (Smash 1 selling 5 million worldwide and mele selling 7 million) By the way loving the channel, keep up the great work!!! :) edit: also factoring in how the Gamecube sold much less than the N64, much more of the Gamecube player base had mele.
Duck like the single thing that has me considering using a GameCube controller for smash is literally the precision you can get with the 8 direction control sticks. That singlehandedly saves smash controllers and if they had a pro-controller with the 8 direction sticks I'm pretty sure that'd be the ultimate-super-superior mega controller
Yeah the Frog suit is in a place where, the running on water is cool, and it makes water levels bearable now, but that shouldn't have had to be an issue in the first place. And it being better than normal on/off blocks? No way imo. Now, if the same thing was said about 1x1 spikes being in 3D World being given worse I would call them insane. Overall, all the new power ups are movement based in the games that need it. 3D World had a lot of movement so it got something else.
Definitely agree on the GameCube controller one. I used to use it a lot, and was pretty fine with it. Once I started using the pro controller though, I found it WAY more comfortable on my hands and easier to control due to its button layout.
I just realized that theres a reference to odyssey's old name in this vid, at least i think At 11:14, he says "thats like if bubsy 3d came out in 1562", Odyssey's old name was funnydude1562, is this a reference to that name or was it just the first number that came into your mind?
I don't see much of a point... Almost everything doable with it is doable normally except for that bit in toytime galaxy, I respect that it's a good challenge to control and is unique, but I personally find it to be one of my least favourite
I love the GameCube controller for one reason: the notches on the control stick. It makes platformers and anything that requires precise movement way easier to control, since it guides you into the 8 main direction.
I personally love Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Bros Wii. They were both part of my childhood. I will say that Super Mario World was better than SMB3
@@Sapphire-qp2hn To be honest, everyone gets their own opinion but personally, I think U is just a HD port of Wii with different levels and a new powerup. :/
I prefer DK Country returns over NSMBW. Multiplayer is great, More boss variety, Although I do prefer mario Wii's final boss, I respect all of your opinions
yes the -konky dong- (sorry) donkey kong games basically improve on almost every aspect the nsmb series. better graphics, music, and environments. really the only aspect that the nsmb series is on par with dk is the level design, and maybe story, since both series don't have one (which is fine).
ShelledGuy55 The DKC games blow NSMB away in terms of level design. DKC has some of the best 2d platforming levels I’ve ever seen. Tropical Freeze is the best 2d platformer of all time in my eyes, and the NSMB games look incredibly bland in level design for me.
You can't really compare DKC and Mario together. They're both completely different styles of platformers. Mario is designed to be easy and appealing to a more broad, younger audience, so little variety is to be expected. It's meant to be casual, that's the audience they're catering to. With DKC meanwhile, those platformers are designed for people at a higher skill level. Though if you ask me, I think DKC is way more interesting since it brings with it actual challenge.
@@Odyssey_Central I'm sorry, but I can't agree on that NSMBWii opinion. The NSMBU Bowser fight was far better because it's the only one where you don't run away from Bowser, the music is annoying as hell, I could go on forever, but I really don't feel like it. No disrespect to your opinion btw, I still think you're an amazing content creator, I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers, also I totally agree with your Pokémon Sword and Shield opinion, that game was total crap.
So guys we did it, a quarter of a mi- 100,000! Jokes aside, i am really proud of how far you have come allready, and i hope you keep growing and.... DRY BONES FOR SMASH!
I think the Ice Flower could have easily been made for the 3.0 update in Mario Maker 2, just change the graphics and mechanics a bit and make it for the 4 main themes
This is probably an unpopular opinion but I really like rosalina in smash bros. Her movement feels really fluid in the air and the setups you can do with luma are really fun. Lots of her attacks like neutral air and back air also just feel really good to use. She's definitely one of the most interesting characters in the series, I would might even main her if she didn't need to play so defensively.
FINALLY! Somebody says the NSMB series is GOOD! Well they aren't the most creative pieces of art Nintendo makes, I honestly just like the simple gameplay, it makes a small fun time. Also I agree somewhat on MB3, it's cool, but some levels are just trash and can be frustrating.
Miyamoto's made it pretty clear that he isn't interested in doing that. Galaxy 1 I think was the only game were Bowser actually felt threatening, in addition to being a much more serious game in general. In the final level his starting dialogue was all about how he was literally going to take over the entire universe with Peach at his side. Not to mention the dramatic visual effects and a damn orchestra for Christ's sake. But Miyamoto didn't think it was a good idea, and it was a big reason they never tried that "serious" approach ever again. In the next Galaxy game they dropped it entirely, going back to the old, incompetent Bowser. It's something I kind of missed tbh, but I get why they did it. That kind of formula doesn't work with what people's conception of Mario as a series is. They don't imagine this kind of storytelling with actual stakes as part of that.
I don't want to get too in-depth but one of the reasons why I love Mario 3 is that it's one of the few NES games that are so good they could almost be released today with updated graphics and they'd still be good. (Mario 3 would need a save feature though.)
My family had a Wii when I was a kid and we had Mario bro’s Wii and I LOVED that game and when I learned that Mario was a whole series I was overwhelmed but that game is always my favorite
Here are some of my unpopular Nintendo opinions: - Majora's Mask is one of the worst Zelda games and honestly just isn't that fun to play. The story is lacking, the majority of content in the game is side quests and the constant ticking clock doesn't even give you much time to experience most of what the game offers - Paper Mario Color Splash, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and Pokémon Sword/Shield are all games that I see get hated on a lot that I actually find genuinely enjoyable. And I don't think hating on Sword and Shield is that controversial; in fact, I think the general opinion is that it's bad (and I can't comprehend why) - I've never played a Metroid game and have no desire to. They just don't look very appealing to me - There's no reason to revive F-Zero. It's just a racing game and other than the fact that it's fast, there's nothing particularly special about it. - The Wii U was actually a pretty good console. Sure it was advertised horribly and it is a little bulky, but it has some incredible 1st party Nintendo games, as well as remakes of two of my favorite Zelda titles. And the virtual console had such a massive selection it was incredible - While on the topic of Wii U games, Super Mario 3D World is one of the best Mario Games. A typical 3D Mario has aways been a complete departure from the 2D style ever since Mario 64 came out and while that's not a bad thing, 3D World really felt like the best of both worlds. - And finally, Skyward Sword is my second favorite Zelda game and one of my favorite video games of all time, and the hate on it is completely unjustified. It's incredibly fun to play, the swordplay is immersive, the art style is beautiful, and the story is just so incredibly written. Not to mention the large cast of lovable characters
I basically agree with all of what you said except the stuff about 3D World. I like the level design and there’s a good amount of content, but Galaxy, Galaxy 2, and Odyssey are all just so much better in so many ways. That said I don’t think that 3D World deserves hate; it is a good game, but I, personally, wouldn’t call it one of the best.
People don’t like sword and shield because it brought nothing to the franchise, the story is bad, it’s incredibly easy, the national dex being cut, low quality animations, etc. There’s actually many problems that are easy to see
Right now at only 2 months more you have 45,000 subscribers. Amazing job! This is at July 23rd. I agree with every single opinion. Except maybe for the frog suit.
An unpopular opinion I hold is that Mario 64 does NOT control well. It feels like you lose all your momentum when you jump... that is if the jump even registers at all. I still like Mario 64, and I enjoy it whenever I play it; I just think that the DS remake fixed a lot of the issues I had with it. Yes, even the controls, which is another unpopular opinion I have.
Wait, you actually despise the Frog Suit as well? but really they should've had the hammer suit instead. that power up is way, *way* too underrated and unloved by nintendo.
9:32 is when I start agreeing with everything he says (Although, in regards to battle mode, it is really fun, but the point balancing with Shine Thief and Renegade Roundup is broken.)
I definitely agree that people shouldn't rank mario titles on when they get released, that's the problem with people ranking the new super mario bros games. No, new super mario bros 2 isn't bad. You're just putting it low because it came out as the 3 of the new soup games, and not the 1. Like new soup ds did. If those two games had reverse release dates. I swear people would rip on ds, and love 2.
@@sdwsamix864 no it wasn't, most people like it because if it came out first. I got Soup 2 before DS and DS is my least favorite of all the soup games. Soup 2 had better level design, power ups and graphics in my opinion. I do like the boss battles from DS because they were so original
Michiel P i actually didn’t had new soup 2 but new soup ds was kinda my childhood (with 64 DS and SoulSilver) so i kinda prefer it, the mini game are great (also the versus mode is a ton of fun) and the level are fun to play (the mechanic where you can keep a power up at any time is fun).
I use a wireless GameCube controller on my Switch, it's as popular as is because of how comfortable it is to use; I couldn't care less of it being because of nostalgia. Mario games feel great with it especially; I use my pro controller as well, but not as much.
Honestly, the only opinion that I explicitly disagree with is the amiibo mushrooms. While they certainly weren't the only good thing about mm1, they were (in my opinion) one of the best things about the game, and there was no reason for them to be removed. As for the oversaturation of them in levels, I believe Nintendo could've easily made a separate section for levels centered around them.
Thanks for saying Mario 3 is overrated I think people just like it because of all the power ups and all that Also nice end music gets me into a piggy step 👌
No, people love it for tight and difficult platforming (Unlike Odyssey), fun and interesting powerups, 8 different and fun worlds, good level design (Unlike Odyssey), great music, a classic and still beautiful artstyle, etc. How about actually playing the game (All the way through) before you say it is overrated?
@@therebel4630 I don't know what you're talking about, but Odyssey has amazing level design. Mario 3 has some pretty bad levels, the worst probably being the World 7 fortress
The one thing I disagree the most about this video is the "drybones for smash" part. I respect your opinion, but there are many better options to chose from.
most likely, personally I love the game and I grew up with the GameCube and the Wii, but I hear about from my parents how Mario and sonic ran the 90s, and smb3 was the head of that
He definitely never said Worst **MARIO** Character of all times... but I sure as Hell did. He may have only been talking about in smash, but that comment applies to me fully lol.
The thing about SMB3 is that it was a massive quality spike from SMB2, which itself was a massive quality spike from SMB. Also, Mario isn't going "Hoo! Haa! Yahooo!" _every time_ he jumps. I'm not a fan of the cutesy. That said, I'll concede the levels are more impressive with the more advanced engines, and that SMB3's music is a bit lacking. Also, I'm in total agreement that SMO is the best of the series. ^_^ (Terra Branford for Smash.)
honestly, super Mario bros 3 is my favorite video game of all time, even though I am a couple decades younger than it. but you are right. it is because it was the first game I ever owned, but if it had not been for that, I would not have discovered Nintendo or my other favorite video games of all time (including odyssey.) So, for me, I guess I owe it to smb3 for not only providing many fun experiences but introducing me to even more. that being said, I get and even agree with a lot of your points. it may not be perfect, but for me it is still dearly loved, even by someone who grew up around the time of the wii

Nope. And here are SOME of them reasons why:
- You can buy moons which is fucking stupid, it makes the moons a joke and a collectible which requires no challenge.

I think Super Mario Odyssey is overrated

Unpopular opinion: 3D world had the BEST Bowser fight. Climbing up a tower into space while Bowser goes all out, using your own powerups against you and duplicating himself over and over again only for it to end with a huge pow explosion rather than just him falling into a hot fiery object. And then instead of just saving the sprixies and going down you go even HIGHER into space. It's a masterpiece of a game with a climactic ending. (and the music is wonderful)
Throwing bombs on Bowser in a Porsche was also fun
The SMG series bosses are really cool, in the story. The bosses themselves are alright, but the story is amazing! Fighting Bowser in the center of the universe, or climbing a giant doomsday machine with all sorts of defences on it, that's cool. And the boss music is absolutely incredible and epic. Actually the entire games music is awesome! Unpopular opinion: star festival theme is best.

But an unpopular opinion you do have is the one on Super Mario Bros. 3, which I actually agree with. I played it some time ago, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. I think the only old 2D Mario game I really like is Super Mario World.

I agree with all except 3 but I still like the classic SMB1 a little more than SMB3
7 isn't really an unpopular opinion to my knowledge.
Damari Hanson yeah the would be a great con stroller! I wonder if modders would be able to make the optimized pro controller like that.
Other reasons they dont use the n54 controller.include: it sucked.
I grew up with a Gamecube but I HATE using the controller for Smash, even though Melee was one of my first video games. Also I greatly dislike Melee.
10:53 Mario's death syncs up with the "ba" in the music.

The only thing that i like about the controller is the analog shoulder buttons.

yes the -konky dong- (sorry) donkey kong games basically improve on almost every aspect the nsmb series. better graphics, music, and environments. really the only aspect that the nsmb series is on par with dk is the level design, and maybe story, since both series don't have one (which is fine).
Dkc returns was an extremely polished, visually stunning, up-and-downbeat sounding game with perfect difficulty
Honestly, DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze make the NSMB games look really lame in comparison. Another fantastic 2D platformer is Rayman Legends

Unpopular opinion: They should make Bowser a more feared villain as opposed to him being goofy and cocky.
That's not an opinion nor a fact, it's in limbo
I think Bowser should continue to be goofy but there should be another villain that isn’t
“Please don’t get mad at me for my opinion, I don’t get mad at you for yours.”
It’s hard to argue with his assessment...
My family had a Wii when I was a kid and we had Mario bro’s Wii and I LOVED that game and when I learned that Mario was a whole series I was overwhelmed but that game is always my favorite
Here are some of my unpopular Nintendo opinions:
- Majora's Mask is one of the worst Zelda games and honestly just isn't that fun to play. The story is lacking, the majority of content in the game is side quests and the constant ticking clock doesn't even give you much time to experience most of what the game offers
- Paper Mario Color Splash, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and Pokémon Sword/Shield are all games that I see get hated on a lot that I actually find genuinely enjoyable. And I don't think hating on Sword and Shield is that controversial; in fact, I think the general opinion is that it's bad (and I can't comprehend why)
- I've never played a Metroid game and have no desire to. They just don't look very appealing to me
- There's no reason to revive F-Zero.
And the virtual console had such a massive selection it was incredible
- While on the topic of Wii U games, Super Mario 3D World is one of the best Mario Games.
Finally someone that agrees with me on Skyward Sword. In my opinion, that game has the best story of any Zelda game.

(Terra Branford for Smash.)
This is basically an older version of the hot takes video lol
I just personally find a GameCube controller comfortable
I liked the mystery mushroom because you could give Mario an extra hit point without making him bigger
honestly, super Mario bros 3 is my favorite video game of all time, even though I am a couple decades younger than it. but you are right. it is because it was the first game I ever owned, but if it had not been for that, I would not have discovered Nintendo or my other favorite video games of all time (including odyssey.) So, for me, I guess I owe it to smb3 for not only providing many fun experiences but introducing me to even more. that being said, I get and even agree with a lot of your points. it may not be perfect, but for me it is still dearly loved, even by someone who grew up around the time of the wii
