    Hi Dre, would love to know who you get your strawberry plants from! I have had a horrible time trying to find them. Finally got someone from New Jersey to ship me 2000 Ruby Junes. I think 400 lived. Quite discouraging. They were not able to send more early enough. I suspect you're in a similar growing zone, I'm in 6b and other growers tell me they need to be in the ground by mid September here. Multiple growers wanted to send them to me in mid October but that's just too late here. Would sure appreciate a good supplier as I can't do a whole lot worse than what I got this year. Thanks!

    What did it cost per plant? How many did you plant per acre?
    What does it cost to prep one acre for this?
    Bed making,mulch cover, drip pipe etc costs?
    Can you detail the costs one is looking at to start say a 10 acre berry farm?

    • @farmerdre1
      @farmerdre1  8 месяцев назад +1

      I am just gonna tell you the total cost of everything to plant. Planted 50,000 strawberry plants that costed me $21,000. Irrigation system around another $5000. Plastic mulch $$3000. Water soluble Fertilizer for the entire spring and fall season $2000. Pre-plant fertilizer $1200.
      This does not include labor.
      Let me know if this helped

    • @farmerdre1
      @farmerdre1  8 месяцев назад +1

      One thing I forgot to mention, depending on where you’re at and growing zone you will need row covers for the winter months. Row covers for all my strawberries costed me new around $10,000

    • @haril6025
      @haril6025 8 месяцев назад

      @@farmerdre1 50,000 plants yield around 110,000 pounds. If a pound averages at $4, net would be $440,000 per year. So for $30,000 - $35,000 investment, you can make around $440,000.
      Factoring in labor costs around $60,000 - $100,000 , an average strawberry farmer can take $250,000?
      Assuming weather and everything else goes well which it doesn’t most of the time for farmers(my family are farmers).

    Why are you planting at that distance between plants? It looks like you could space them a little closer and get more production. I find your vids very informative and helpful as I am a second year backyard strawberrry grower. 🙂
