I see no reason why you couldn't make a fret cutting system this way. You could even include a registration pin so that you could use a fretting template.
Nice. I made a similar box for slotting fretboards. A bit wider as it is for ukulele fingerboards. Also it is not adjustable, just glued together. But it has worked well for the 10 fretboards I have manufactured.
Thank you
Great jig. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy ☺️ and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Another useful tool and good advice. Thanks, Kevin.
Never mind the plastic type either Kevin !
This is great. Would be handy to use for cutting decorative trim at the location instead of dozens of trips to the garage!
Thanks Kevin! I will be making one of those. Great video
Great idea! And the sides of the slot can be dressed back to square should that ever be needed! Thank you for sharing!
That's the most pragmatic little shop-made miter box I've seen. Nicely done! Do you -- or could you -- use a larger version of that to cut fret slots?

Yes, that’s what I do. On mine I made inserts out of Corian that are adjustable instead of slotting the sides, but either way would work.
