I initially built it for student use in a school shop. It turned out to be very useful and safe. One student made an electronic control for it. The router could be moved and stopped at the touch of a switch. In those days it was call "The Track Router" with "The Wightman Control".
The router system was mounted on a stand. The top had dovetails running parallel to the travel of the router. Toggle clamps mounted on corresponding dovetails could be adjusted for width and thickness.
