  • Ukraine war is underway as F-16 fighter jets head to Ukraine. 🛩️🇺🇦 President Zelenskyy has long called for these jets, believing they will significantly boost Ukraine’s defenses. "Now is the time to provide all the weapons necessary for defense"
    This marks a turning point. F-16s will soon fly over Russia, targeting strategic positions that have fueled attacks on Ukraine. But this also risks escalating the conflict, potentially drawing NATO into the fray. 🌍

    F-16's are versatile. From what I've studied and learned about the F-16 over the years (specifically the Block 50 version that Ukraine is getting), I believe the biggest boon that Ukraine will get from them is its incredible wild weasel capabilities. Before, Ukrainian pilots were getting stand-offed by Russian jets launching long range air-air missiles, because they were flying old MIG-29s that have neither the maneuverability, nor the early warning capabilities needed to effectively notch and evade russian missiles.
    That changes with the F-16. They have radars capable of detecting Russian fighters at longer distances, RWR systems capable of detecting missile launches far earlier, and avionics systems including EW suites that are capable of making missiles stray off course. In addition, there are few planes that can change direction and speed as quickly and erratically as the F-16. An F-16 can manuever in relation to a missile and find great success in notching or causing the missile to bleed its energy to the point where it's no longer a threat.
    This, in conjunction with the upgraded armaments, like the ARAAM C-8 that Ukraine is getting with the F-16s, will allow Ukrainian pilots to push against Russian fighters with much less fear and actually force Russian jets back to avoid getting within missile range themselves.
    This will open up more area for Ukraine to work with on the ground as well.
    Looking forward to how it goes.

      They are not getting Block 50s but Block 15 MLU aircraft. These jets are a range of Block 1 to Block 15 airframes upgraded to a common standard. Many of the systems are Block 50 standard, but not the engines and radar. I don't think these jets have the HTS pod for the Wild Weasle role, but could be wrong about that.

      @@ObiWanShinobi917 No, that is not correct. None of these donor countries ever operated Block 30s to begin with, they were all Block 1 through to Block 15 OCU when delivered and later went through multiple stages of the MLU program. These old Euro F-16s are Block 15 MLU (Mid-Life Update) standard. They have had their avionics and cockpit, etc updated to Block 50 standard and generally kept current with modernisation, but they still have the F100-PW-200 or 220 engines and the APG-66 radar.
      Block 25 onward have the APG-68. Block 70 has the APG-83 which is an AESA radar. Some older blocks have had the APG-83 retrofitted, but these definitely have not.
      I never said they didn't have Sniper pods, I said they don't carry the HTS pod (ASQ-213 HARM Targeting System). Only late Block 50s had that capability integrated. It may later have been integrated on earlier blocks as part of an upgrade, but I cannot confirm.
      They are still extremely capable aircraft, but they are not cutting-edge F-16s by modern standards.

      Considering the fact hat the USSR has lost thousands of tanks to include the T-90 western tanks have done very well. The British sent about 5 challenger 2 and only lost one. US sent 30 Abrams and only lost 3 with about 5 more disabled. The leopard two's have had a lesser degree of success due to the large number of leopard 1's sent which are obsolete. However, even the L2 A6's have had some issues. None of these tanks are state of the art latest western block modified. But the one thing in common in all these tanks is the crews have survived and all the disabled tanks that were recovered are repaired. Those tanks were impacted by Russian air superiority and glide bombs plus the modified air to ground munitions on helicopters. NATO and the US failed to provide Ukraine with western aircraft so Ukraine was not able to use western doctrine and use the tanks properly. Even now outdated version F-16 starting to arrive and yet the US which has thousands of them ( all being phased out) hasn't sent not one plane. We should have pledged 100 planes to send a statement to Putin to get out! Ukraine should have at least one ELITE squadron of F-16 with latest block and armed with latest AMRAAM-ER. Just one ghost squadron specializing in Air Dominance like the Red Baron's squadron. Their job to seek and destroy Russian aircraft only. Russian pilot's would be afraid to fly after that...Fox 3!

And Russia still has a lot of Anti-air defense inside Russia, so they'd only go for very select targets, given the risk is so high.

    • @gottagowork
      @gottagowork Месяц назад +3

      Yeah, video doesn't strike me as well thought out based on what we already know, more like a wet dream. They couldn't train existing pilots properly (even Abrams crews was a challenge). New pilots was trained fine, as was their close supporting functions. So they'll be able to fly the planes fines. But they cannot employ western/NATO tactics, as the higher ups cannot be trained for this; near impossible to unlearn everything you believe in - ask a Trump supporter. So they're not ending up NATO qualified pilots, but Ukrainian pilots able to fly F-16s the Ukrainian way of thought. Same happened to Abrams crew; can use the tank just fine, but limited to using it the same way they would use ruskie equipment rather than the "NATO way".
      Also, the risk of going deep into enemy territory is just too high considering the cost. F-16s are not *immune* to MANNPADS like Igla or Strela or whatever else they have. What they *can* do is a variety of standoff missions that was previously unavailable to them, as the F-16s are compatible with so much more armaments'. Wouldn't mind seeing that bridge finally come down for good.

The main advantage these planes will give Ukraine will be as missile trucks, giving them the ability to carry NATO-standard weapons and full access to those weapons' capabilities. If they were to try and use them in an air superiority mode, against Russian SU-35 with AESA radars, AWACS and long-range R-77 and R-37(M) missiles they'd be toast...the Russian planes could engage them before the aging radars on Ukraine's F-16s even warned them of a threat...

Ukraine may loosen the guidelines a bit on what is mission ready but I dont see them getting ground crews going without senior personnel with intimate knowledge of the aircraft. There were however contractors who were capable and if Ukraine has contracted much of it out things may be possible. Even while phasing out F-16s for F-35s getting parts is expensive and will be difficult if they are not being manufactured at the scale required. I just cant believe we would give up so much weapons tech when it has cost the US tax payers trillions to stay a generation ahead of adversaries. I doubt their generational counterparts are actually the same generation.

And now they also get 300 Danish billions in war support - That's enough money to build a bridge connection from Denmark to Norway or from Denmark to England for that money, and there would still be money left... The narrator suggests that the modern Russian Air Force is well maintained and superior to the Ukraine Air Force. With little action seen by the Russians since they left the easy war they lost in Afghanistan I don’t believe that their modern aircraft will be ready for action much like their Tank Cavalry weren’t and are proving a bigger problem than anything on the ground in the midst of battle … too many Vodkas make military leaders lie about how well they have done their job.
    Personally I think Russia could use a total change of leadership and a better Communism without oligarchies and with true Cameraderie among their peoples … If only All the Russians adopted the true principles it could be a great country once again !

    • @charlesmclearn4642
      @charlesmclearn4642 Месяц назад +2

      Several reasons
      The A10 is only flown by the US and they still have limitations on weaponry being used in Russia
      The A10 is ancient, and while they have served well, they are slow and have a large radar signal which would make them easier targets, especially from more agile or modern aircraft
      Their mission is different and requires establishing air superiority before sending the A10s. Not too mention the training for the A10 would be completely foreign to the Ukrainian pilots and would take years to get an effective A10 squadron flying.

    • @charlesmclearn4642
      @charlesmclearn4642 Месяц назад

      Effectively, they aren't the right aircraft for the mission.
      The US uses the A10 to devastating effect because they can (and do) field squadrons of F15s, F16s and F22s which establish air superiority which allows the A10 to operate in close air support missions with the threat from enemy aircraft picking them off.
      Without air superiority the A10 is a pretty big target.

Especially now that Ukraine is getting more western weapons and can use it with the western intelligence. Russia without the nukes ain't that scary , corruption mainly is the cause of the bad shit in Russia or stuff not working :P
