Concord Gameplay Looks Worse

- Concord gameplay looks worse to me after seeing hands-on previews. A combination of UI and HUD design mixed with an unmistakable tie to Destiny and Destiny 2 that I cannot unsee has raised my concern for if this game lasting the distance.
Concord is an upcoming first-person hero shooter game developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 23, 2024.

Easy there buddy, remember suicide squad? You were all in
all in? i thought they could pull it off, the gameplay was fun, but no depth
@@ReforgeGaming that's fair. Seems weird for your opinion so early when there's impressions of people who actually played the game. I get it though. Gotta make content. You do great work. Keep it up
@@ReforgeGaming Thanks for being honest. I didn't have a problem with Suicide Squad but Helldivers 2 pulled me off. The multiplayer experience was just better.
@@ReforgeGaming srry bud, cant trust you.
I’m not a multiplayer gamer so maybe this is a bit ignorant of a comment, but it seems like you’re missing a possibly huge IMPORTANT variable in your analysis. If I remember correctly, Fortnite wasn’t an instant success either. Epic just kept plugging away at it until it was. Didn’t PubG make mockery of Fortnite when it came out? The missing variable I’m talking about are updates and financial investment + dev talent pool. Maybe your presumption is correct that as soon as player base dwindles, Sony and firewall will pull the plug. Your assumption is likely accurate but who’s to say, because it seems even as reasonable and intelligent an argument as it is, that it still is just your assumption that they would pull the plug right away? Maybe they will keep plugging away at it until it becomes financially lucrative? Sony isn’t Square Enix after all. ofc, they don’t have the funds of a Microsoft but they do have a long term strategy and some funds, after all. Bethesda and Xbox have been doing this for ages. FO76 was a disaster until they kept plugging away until it started becoming lucrative. Grounded and sea of thieves same. Starfield was a big disaster in all metrics except financially, and is still being worked on, and even with all the backlash about $7 quests and mod store, for all intents, it’s become a huge financial success if reports are to be believed. It seems likely it depends a lot on how invested for the long run Sony and firewalk are. Not to mention even Destiny basically lost almost all initial players until they finally had some popular updates out? I would think a lot depends on how much they’re willing to lose until successful and how talented the devs are to be able to deliver fast timely updates, etc. as 💩 ish as this practice is, initial reception doesn’t seem to necessarily equate to long term success? Sony may have learned something from Bungie’s recommendations on LOU2 factions and decided just to first put out whatever slop and keep fixing it until successful? Is it even possible? Idk. Just saying. Nobody knows how much they bought firewalk for, but maybe Sony didn’t pay so much and kept a much larger budget number in mind to keep the wheels oiled, to lengthen the time to when they’d have to pull the plug? A lot of this smells like a calculated experiment on Sony’s part perhaps, and it will be interesting to see if firewalk gets shuttered or revamped, or given another chance at another IP, or what.
Well said, gave me a new perspective.
I will say I’ll wait for a beta to see. I was uninterested in many need for speed games until I gave them a chance. So at least for me I will wait and see
Reminds me of Halo Infinte, i liked where the story from the multiplayer was going.... but i hated i was just being told stuff was happening rather then getting that story in a campaign its self.
Game looks as fun as the other 2000 mediocre F2P games on Steam right now......
If every fps is mediocre then clearly you don't play fps games so who cares about your opinion?
@@CrystalMang0 I didn't say "every". Open your eyes virgin.
I'd love a 5v5 or 6v6 shooter without the problematic tank role. That role sucks causes problems. Not only does this game have tanks, but they're incredibly slow. What were they thinking making the tanks move so slow??
EDIT: I'm also not a fan of the slow movement in general and the floaty jumps. I crave skill based, fast paced, shooters with powers. I agree with RG on the whole font issue.
I, for one, am really excited for The First Descendant. Be that as it may, that it'll probably die pretty quickly but to be honest, I want a game as to where I won't get burned out with this game like I did with Destiny or even Destiny 2. In Destiny and or Destiny 2, I did everything but in the end, all of this felt the same every week on a Tuesday Reset due to its repetitiveness but I get it, every game is repetitive.
concord will likely not last too
@@ReforgeGaming Your probably right, Reforge
First descendant is on track to succeed, they've had over a million players in the last 2 gameplay tests so as long as they don't get overly greedy it'll do fine.
Destiny 2 is awesome currently and not burning out is impossible. If it’s good you will want to play like crazy … it’s the paradox .. if there’s too much content, content becomes overwhelming and loses weight. This is why it’s near impossible to defeat “ burn out “
Pre ordered it and I’ll judge myself.
It looks ok. It doesn’t stand out or look like it offers anything amazing. It’s like Destiny meets OW.
Unfortunately there’s just so many other more exciting games coming out that I don’t think it will last.
Just assuming just cause?
@@CrystalMang0 I’d love to be proven wrong but that’s the vibe I get watching the gameplay. The characters look generic and uninteresting to me, personally. If that changes after I play it, then, fine. But the gameplay only solidifies my opinion so far.
I’m not really interested in this game but I actually think all the new footage looks way better than the Trailer they showed! Regardless of what I think of the decisions they made with this game specially regarding how they chose to cater to social politics, I gotta admit that the actual gameplay and shooting looks really clean. Even the visuals and the overall game looks polished. imo
Not much of what you're saying feels to me like a negative except for the "not free" part, which I think could ultimately be this game's undoing. As far as a Destiny hero shooter, that premise is fantastic. I just don't know that the majority of people are willing to drop $40 on it. Can't believe it isn't day one PS Plus.
and who asked for hero shooter destiny?
@@ReforgeGaming The corporate Blackjack game of making and promoting an online shooter does seem to amount to trying to hit on something no one specifically asked for.
Great video. Thoughtful analysis!
Thanks for watching
After the beta and the marvels rivals beta , i will know if im playing both or just Mrvel rivals. Fragpunk loks legit too.
I played the fragpunk playtest… it goes hard bro I’m so excited for it to release
Fragpunk plays too much like COD so it will get boring real fast
@@Thepvpguy128 said nobody ever. And that’s not even true 😆
@@MrJosh066717 it's actually very true
Tbh game should have gone the overwatch one approached like more trailers and that’s how people can get excited and overwatch wasn’t free back then I think $39.99, same price as this game “, I hope the devs succeed.
Personally I disagree with everything about the complains here.
The game seems ok, the variants for the characters seems interesting as for the roles for them as well, and really having destiny fells isn't a issue, specially when is developed by destiny devs. UI also seems fine and likely as I hope be possible to customize.
Also thank god ttk is slower, otherwise stun or abilities alike would be absolutely annoying to deal with. But characters can manage to solo plays well if using them wise, from fotage there were people getting 2/3 kills, there's skill expression to show.
Still we will see better when beta comes out.
(Aside of that, marvel rivals comes next year, so concord really does have good chances for doing well, specially with the amount of content coming)
Being f2p or paid really doesn't matter, if a game is shit, it wouldn't save it, OW1 was only online paid game and sell millions and there are morons that buy cod every single year, if people are or got interested they will buy it.
As we get our hand on concord, just then we will see how it goes
If they charging it will almost be a guarantee death of the game within a month.
It could use a little more destiny. It’s a bit sluggish
that will turn folks off for sure
No good argument.
This looks better than first defendant. That game is SLOP
Regarding originality, the criticism is well deserved, but the game play looks fun and I will give it a shot.
definitely looks fun, but hard to last without uniqueness
Pretty much all the previews were highly positive. The combat is very different from overwatch, outside of the objectives and hero type characters. I don't understand why people really want this game to fail
@@mikeh4818 the way I see it there is a demand for a new shooter. Overwatch 2 is in a very bad state right now and Destiny and Hallo are at their lowest low.
@@ReforgeGaming I agree that they will need to show more than just the usual down the road and devs did addressed that. But also it could be too little, too late.
this game looks good
Take it easy buddy. It’s no wonder they’re are some similarities between concord and destiny considering they helped CREATE DESTINY
It’s mentioned in the video, genius.
@@ReforgeGaming 😂
If you like Destiny 2 pvp, hate the Destiny 2 grind, and don't mind character designs by committee the game doesn't look that bad.
This game has the characters pronouns on the character page. Including the robot, no fucking thanks.
In all honesty if i feel like playing 5 v 5 arena with Destiny-like abilities, i might as well just play Destiny. It's free, and it has Shaxx.
Who is this game for?
at $40, i am not sure
Destiny PvP is completely broken. Who doesn't want a Destiny type gameplay in a hero-shooter game with so many different archetypes to play as. If this game is well balanced, this easily be better than Overwatch, imo
@mikeh4818 Destiny pvp is working perfectly fine, tested it last week. You not liking the current meta doesn't make it "broken".
@@Litoh14day Destiny has ALWAYS had a “broken” pvp. From crucible iron banner to trails or Osiris. Destiny has ALWAYS had a broken pvp. Regardless if you like it or not. F the meta. Throw that out the conversation. had my fun with it. Still find some enjoyment. But be real. Destiny pvp is not it
@@mooodybluez You being burned out has no bearing on the conversation.
So its basically destiny, but remove the open world, the raids, the dungeons, the pve, the leveling up, the bikes, the huge talent trees, and only leave crucible available and charge $40 for it 😂😂😂 gotcha
content and try to convince someone of your view is the same these days.
Looks fun as hell not sure about the longevity or how the community will take to it but I’m all in!
Super professional vid
thank you!
I think the hardest part will be keeping players. I think a good amount will play it at the beginning but not as many that could if it were free. But I don’t think it is unique enough to keep players from going to any of the other games
Doesn't matter. It's $40 so it doesn't need as much as a free game would
@@CrystalMang0 that’s not my point. Live service games have to have continual engagement to stay afloat.
I am just no longer interested in generic pvp hero shooters. Had this game had a strong beloved IP tied to it perhaps. But as it is there are just too many other more interesting games to play and that are coming out.
definitely true
I’ve never been hugely into MP games. This game doesn’t appeal to me for that reason. I really wish it came with a single player campaign.
Game looks pretty fun, you just have to try it out yourself
i plan to
Dude keeps referencing Destiny. Clearly he fails to realize that most of the Devs are ex bungie devs and are the ones that were in charge of the combat in Destiny. Wow mind blowing that it would be so similar to Destiny.
I’m well aware that Josh Hamrick, Jon Wisniewski, and Claude Jerome are from Bungie. I covered Destiny extensively when they were there. And that’s the problem. They basically took things directly from their previous game.
@@ReforgeGaming Good you know. The thing is, if it works then it works. If they can take their knowledge of when Destiny PvP was actually good and use that to make a good Destiny like PvP game then that can actually attract a lot of players from the game, since everyone has been complaining about the PvP in Destiny for years. It may not be the most original thing but it is a good idea and there is a player base for something like it. That's just my opinion. Will I play it. I do not know. I'll at least try the open beta.
Look bland and generic af.
typical Lib with horrible takes.
To add to your point about it having huge free to play competition. All the competition is also available on every platform and not exclusive to one console.
Hell, Microsoft is even planning on bringing CoD to Nintendo eventually.
good point
Cod is $70 tho...
@@ssjmonstar meant Warzone, my bad.
I hate this teenage stressy messy multiplayer type of games...
Great Vid!!
my man
Super flop , the same teenage trash like Fortnite...SONY what are you doing? Where are the real AAA bangers?
This game has nothing to do with Sony’s single player games. Did Naughty Dog, Bend Studio, Santa Monica Studio, Insomniac, or Sucker Punch make Concord?
The biggest thing that stands out to me is the graphical downgrade compared to the gameplay in the trailer. Why? Did they have to downgrade? Is it just the UI and effects making it look worse?
likely not great capture or console vs pc
Im annoyed hes making all these assumptions on the gameplay without playing it, while seemingly ignoring Journalists who actually played it, and really liked it
video literally acknowledges that it looks fun and people are reporting that it is fun... lol
It's a free to play that's got a price tag it's nothing else thrn a copy and pasted cash grab 🤮
@@ReforgeGaming but you are just glossing over it. I'm sorry, but I give a lot more credence to people who actually played the game compared to someone who hasn't. You should be going over the various hands-on previews, and not baselessly speculating on a game you have never played
@@ReforgeGamingvideo straight up says the gameplay looks worse.
If you dont trully feel that way than why jump on the hate train that's already so over bloated?
I judge game after I play it, so I don't care much what he thinks
To be honest, I think the only reason that Concord is getting released is Sony were contractually obligated to do so by the buyout deal.
Nope, Firewalk have confirmed this was the game they wanted to make.
Sony was contractually obligated to release the game from...the studio they bought? Wtf?
🙄
Studio was founded in 2018 and since then the game was developed, being their first game, they weren't obligated.
Sony just notices destiny devs working on and did buy them by consequence
I think they’re just trying to capture the overwatch two crowd with the cinematics
We like Overwatch 2 cinematics because the characters are likeable. I could care less for the Great Value Guardians of the Galaxy.
I’m gonna subscribe to all the people thar say the game is garbage and wait to release to see if it’s good to see all the reactions.
This game almost had me until i saw it was pvp. I still play destiny everyday & theres nothing in concord that could ever draw my attention. Literally nothing new with this game like you said. If i want to play this style of pvp ill just load up overwatch or ill just stay on destiny lol
Anyone getting overly defensive of this game just isnt looking at the bigger picture. Concord is landing in a bad spot with a whole bunch of f2p games coming out. Other than someone genuinely interested in this game, how is this going to draw them to spend the money?
Im just tired of hero shooters, and kinda burned out on pvp in general
same
Sony would have to pay me to play this dumpster fire.
oof
with fragpunk coming out as a F2P this game has absolutley NO CHANCE of survival.
Tell me y'all don't play Shooters. Every Successful Hero Shooter is a Blend of Something Popular with OW. Valorant= CSGO/OW, Xdefiant= COD/OW, Apex Legends=Fortnite/OW.. Concord= Destiny/OW. Difference is these Guys made Destiny.
these three are form the team that was from the most notoriously bad time in Destiny PVP though....? lol no?
you couldn't even watch the video when this comment was made, lol
lol you didn’t even watch the video yet. Plus Lono played shooters for YEARS I trust his take when he says something looks bad
Are you one of those guys who form their opinion solely based on headlines? Since you didn't even watch the video.
@@ReforgeGamingWhat? I tried to respond to a Short, unless it switched before I commented ( Which is possible, I'm at work) This was supposed to be directed at the opinions of your short. So I stand by my comment.
Ppl need to stop trash talking games and at least wait till it comes out and let ppl play the games for themselves then brainwashing them with your nonsense, this content creators always do this shit 🤷🏻♂️ all they do is hurt the games cos ppl go in with a doubtful mind from listening to this crap then actually enjoying the game for what it is.
Did you even watch the video?
This video is complaining over literally nothing bro. Font & UI look fine. Nothing new? The game isnt even out and your judging like you seen everything. Who cares if it looks similiar to destiny? Thats not bad at all! Just hating bro.
My question is. Who asked for this?
Okay, he doesn't like the number font because it's too hard to read and he dislikes the radar because it too zoomed in. Also the game looks like Destiny and nobody liked Destiny so this game is bound to fail and he knows what winning games look like after 20 minutes. Cool.
For me, this video gets a much deserved thumbs down.
lol cry more
@@ReforgeGaming You're irrelevant.
Clickbait edgelord
Just remember, XBOX is #1
number 1 in what? weird comments like this?
He probably means by toxic fandom they created with Gamepass and randomly with Halo 😄
@@ReforgeGaminggaffes?
Concord is DOA because it's not free to play and on PC it requires a PSN. But not being free to play like overwatch or even the new marvel game is killing itself. You want players should have been free not 30 to 40 dollars Sony has lost there mind
I mean without being hyperbolic, this looks like Destiny ordered off of Wish.
As a pvp main I just don't think this game will move the needle. I have finally after about 6 to 7k hours hung up my boots in destiny, so I crave new pvp.. This looks like some random generic shooter that weve seen so many times plus I'm over hero shooters.
I crave new pvp but I assure as a pvp mainer, this for me looks about as bland and generic as it gets.
No I think you're undercover singleplayer junkie
