This video format is hilarious (as others have mentioned) and some of the comments in the video are really funny. As a Norwegian, the rather German humor is familiar and very funny when expressed in English. A lot of the humor is subconsciously implied and thus extra fun for those who know the German way of thinking. I like Glenmorangie the best, but both whisky are very good. Keep up the good work :)
I love the MacAllan 12 sherry cask best so far. But for the money, Glenmorangie is what I buy more of. Lasanta and Quinta Ruban both great!!! Please disagree as you like, I love these scotches!!!
Even still. A few years later going back to a Macallan 12 the Glenmorangie is still better in my opinion. I find it slightly more complex. Adding a few drops of water and allowing it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Really brings out the whisky. Its a dram I always pour a second. Macallan I never find my self running back to the bottle. Macallan isn't terrible by any means. It is a good dram. Pricing aside I go to the Lasanata everyrime.
Glenmorangie gets my vote. The start, the middle and the end. So many beautiful flavors. Anyone can drink it. Maybe I'm just a fan lol. Thanks from California.
These Father/Son "whisky versus whisky" video are SO insanely hilarious, and well worth the laughs. For me on this video, will go with Glenmorangie Lasanta. Taste better, more ABV and less expensive! :)
You guys are both great! I have been enjoying you for years. Visited both GM and Macallan in 2019. While I like both, I enjoy Glenmorangie more, because it is lighter, fruity, and less costly. We did cut loose one time, and bought a bottle of Signet, so we aren't always frugal.
I have to say that I have had both and my verdict is that the GM really is a more approachable whiskey with no lack of character or flavour. The macallan only takes you a bit deeper into the oaliness and (for me) has a more bitter after taste. The GM has a spicier finish that is satisfying yet easy.
Macallan 12 sherry is where my scotch journey started 3 years ago. But enjoy Glenmorangie more. And Glenmorangie definitely wins for value. Love the QR (12 and 14 years) and even enjoy the 10 year Original. The Signet is UFR!! CHEERS!
Very funny, these head-to-head contests are very entertaining. It's also a pleasure to see the Luening family having fun. Merry X-Mas and thank you for your videos!
This entertaining video encapsulates the principle that although a higher quality product will ensure a more enjoyable experience, personal preferences can't be defined and will ALWAYS determine someone's favourite tipple.🤣
60? In the US, the Macallan 12 runs 75-90 USD; 15 runs 125-150, and 18 now runs over 350 due to the Tariff baloney. Glenmorandie runs 50 or so for 10; 75 for 14; 120 for 18.
Macallan is a very good whisky. But it's now at a price point where I can find comparable or better whiskies lower than what it costs. Glen Morangie I probably need to explore again. Ive always enjoyed it, just never gravitated towards it. Glenlivet just became the most affordable in my neck of the woods so I picked up a couple of bottles for gifts and for stock.
Haven't tried Lasanta yet but I do enjoy Quinta Ruban 14 yo. Any contemporary Macallan 12 yo at 40% is a rip-off. There is nothing to convince me to pay 60 euro for a bottle of 40% 12 yo malt. Except maybe having at least 20 euro bill tucked in the box along with the bottle😀
When I first sipped The Macallan in the 1980s it was a deliciously rich, fragrant & textured dram. A treasure that was affordable and available. Today, it is a good pour, sure...but the bottlings reek of pretense & arrogance. The Macallan is a perfect example of a single malt that lost its way on the road to “investment grade” single malt. And because the casks are not what they once were, every year is better than the next. The Macallan ought to have stuck with what made them exceptional: Sherry 12...Sherry 18...Sherry 21. Leave the Lalique to the museum collections. We sip single malts to relax as we savor the fragrance and flavor. All the marketing hype adds nothing to the dram, just adds to the price.
@MTH Power Wash LLC it is a classic classic sherry single malt, make no mistake. But it is tremendously expensive & not the malt it once was. Twenty-thirty-forty years ago it was THE premiere single sherry single malt. ...then it caught a fever of self-absorption & the prices exploded while the dram itself got less spectacular. The whole Speyside Sherry Monster Macallan hype is too bad too - it was once the go-to sip. It’s a good dram today, get some just to get your bearings. And if you have a chance to taste some old bottlings without spending a fortune, enjoy!!
Macallan 12, meh. I've never really cared for it. The Glenmorangie Lasanta is much better. Macallan has been riding on their reputation for years now. Their higher age statement drams are better, but I still prefer the Glenmorangie offerings. Quinta Ruban is quite enjoyable and the Signet is excellent. Maybe Macallan should get back to what made them what they were instead of what they have become.
Funny thing choice!... I have never loved Macallan ...possibly at some age statements the most collectable out there... I do like Glenmorangie and I dont think my taste is basic...I love Balblair I love Springbank.... I love Octomore....and the list goes on. But Macallan especially in its affordable 12 15 18 etc is not worth the bother ..My humble opinion.
It used to be worth the bother Nick. I quite agree that today it is a total waste of money which is a crying shame. It's a money machine basically just like Glenfiddich. Whisky is just a product at the end of the day and their shareholders are happy.
My first 12 years old whisky is Yamazaki 12 and I never look back ever since. IMHO, Yamazaki 12 full body taste nail it but the price is TGDH for 12 years old dram. Shout out to Suntory to calm down and bring the price down for this bad boy 😂
Both whiskies are extremely good. If I had to buy one tomorrow with my own money I would buy the Glenmorangie. If I had to drink one for the rest of my life I would buy the Macallan.
Horst loves Macallan, we all know that. It's a great spirit but piss poor value at 40% abv. £35 tops. I know this is playful banter between father and son but it does show a changing of attitude between the generations. Today we want more power and flavour and Macallan's out of date insistence of 40% abv and ridiculous price bottlings leave them behind for whisky connoisseurs. A premium brand for show offs. The Glenmorangie is pretty much the same these days as well.
Not a Macallan fan as much as I desperately tried to be. Too much sherry for my taste. Glenmo Lasanta is probably my least favorite of theirs but still a HUGE fan of their scotch , big majority of my collection.
Glenmorangie wins! This comment, which I saw by chance somewhere on the Internet, reveals everything about Macallan very clearly: ''These days Macallan is a brand of whisky, mostly for people who don’t know a lot about whisky, but they know the brand. Macallan has a huge PR apparatus and spend fortunes in advertisement and fancy, visitor-friendly premises''. Macallan is overrated and overpriced... That is to say, it's for people who splash out their money.
Take it easy bro. They've been doing individual tastings for years and of these two drams. It's just a little light hearted banter to cheer our spirits.
This video format is hilarious . These two are cracking me up. When horst says “mines taller “

Glenmorangie Lasanta has been my Scotch of choice for several years.
Lasanta is 950NTD 700ml
I just picked up a bottle. I am loving the sherry notes and that film of vanilla/toffee/nuts at the end.
@@davidsan9654 how much did u pay
@@kirilmihaylov1934 I want to say 50 and change?
@@davidsan9654 that sounds good for 750ml bottle
I like Glenmorangie more!!
Glenmorangie is my fav. Between the two of these Whiskies.. Way to go Ben! 😎🎄
I really loved this comparison. I'd love to see more like this!
I love the MacAllan 12 sherry cask best so far. But for the money, Glenmorangie is what I buy more of. Lasanta and Quinta Ruban both great!!! Please disagree as you like, I love these scotches!!!
I really love this channel, from Taiwan
we need more vids in this format! hilarious!

Glenmorangie gets my vote. The start, the middle and the end. So many beautiful flavors. Anyone can drink it. Maybe I'm just a fan lol. Thanks from California.
I could watch this all day!

Glenmorangie all the way!
Großartige Chemie zwischen euch, alles gute
I go for Macallan
What a coincidence...I just bought Glenmorangie today...because of your channel I decided to start collecting whisky and trying them
Great video guys. Always enjoy watching. Cheers from Canada!
enjoying these light banter in these vs videos. 👍😊
Horst was going IN on roasting Glenmo there for a minute, I thought he was serious!
Cool format ) I'm for Glenmorangie, love this Lasanta issue, it does smell like Pedro Ximenez, really cool...
I have a bottle of glenmorangie LaSanta on hand at all times . Once in awhile I buy a bottle of macallan . Not often
Hi sir
After testing which one is the best one ?
Thanks

Personally, I prefer MACALLAN. It was my favourite when I started single malt. And now my new favourite is Laphroaig.
😎😂😂that was some good 👍🏾 stuff.
this might be yours the most lovely video

Macallan, oveprized and low alcohol content... To much water added when bottled.

The date for Glenmorangie is on the neck label.
Glenmorangie has a more refined and elegant character and taste in my opinion while Macallan tastes good but in a more comercial way.
When I first sipped The Macallan in the 1980s it was a deliciously rich, fragrant & textured dram. A treasure that was affordable and available.

No contest Glenlivet nadura oloroso all the way.
Naw Glenmorangie 18 or Signet easily wins.

I didn't think Glenmorangie could compare to Macallan, but i do like the Quinta Rubin and Glen' 18yo.
My first 12 years old whisky is Yamazaki 12 and I never look back ever since. IMHO, Yamazaki 12 full body taste nail it but the price is TGDH for 12 years old dram. Shout out to Suntory to calm down and bring the price down for this bad boy 😂
I bought a bottle for $200 at the end of last year. Still have most of it. It is worth it in my opinion.👍
I love these guys. And, I have no doubt they are high on the weed filming this. LoL.enjoy!
Oh I love seeing you both together! Like both but I think Macallan just takes it.
🥃💕
Great VS as always! JW 12 vs Chivas 12 next? The views will be through the roof due to their mass appeal (apparently).
Genmorangie- Port wood finish now known as Quinta Ruban = best ever!
Wish my dad loved me
Your heavenly father is waiting to adopt you, he loves you unconditionally. Call on Jesus!
Horst doesn't age. It is fair to say that whisky has a lot of health benefits.
Where I live, these two are about the same price.
Let me save you the time: Glenmorangie: Delicious. MacAllan: Boring.
Not boring..... expensive
Amen!
Agreed! Macallan is over-price and over-rated.
Not, If you compare it with Macallan Sherry cask
Glenmorangie vs. Glenfarclas!
Glenmorangie ALL👏🏻THE👏🏻 WAY👏🏻
Both whiskies are extremely good. If I had to buy one tomorrow with my own money I would buy the Glenmorangie. If I had to drink one for the rest of my life I would buy the Macallan.
If you were to gift one of these bottles to a single malt newbie which would you choose?
For me. Glenmorangie 98/100 vs Macallan 95/100
Serious trolling here! :) If it was not for the price point i would concider it a draw. I join camp Glenmorangie here. Both taste like nectar to me.
Another vote for Glenmorangie
Glenmorangie 18, Signet, and Quinta Ruban is the best trio in scotch.
I like the Glen
Witziges Video 👍🏼
Glenmorangie!

Looking forward to "chicken vs fish" video :-)
Glenmorangie is the best value out there.

Glenmorangie for sure....
Not a Macallan fan as much as I desperately tried to be. Too much sherry for my taste. Glenmo Lasanta is probably my least favorite of theirs but still a HUGE fan of their scotch , big majority of my collection.
$60 for a macallan. Imagine if that was still the case🥹
Better buy Glen Scotia 15 than these two
Agreed, cheaper and still better-tasting! The taste of Glen Scotia 15 is like winning LOTTO Jackpot.
Macallan vs.Glengoyne
Good comparison but Lasanta is the far better value. However glen garioch is the best value sherry bomb.
GLEN-MORANNNNNNNNNN--GIE
Glenmorangie
I wouldn't buy the GM 10 again and I wouldn't buy the Macallan triple cask again. Springbank, Arran, Laphroiag, Aberlour, and Adbeg forever.
Glenmorangie wins!
This comment, which I saw by chance somewhere on the Internet, reveals everything about Macallan very clearly: ''These days Macallan is a brand of whisky, mostly for people who don’t know a lot about whisky, but they know the brand. I am sure I am not the only one that saw the video recently and didn't like it to not mess up the 666 likes
Macallan = over-priced. for non-peated scotch...i still enjoy Highland Park the most. change my mind.
Macallan is fine whisky but its just not worth paying more than any other equally fine whisky. Macallan is just too overpriced for what it is
I just wished it was more serious for this one
Aloe Vera LOL
It's annoying how much the older one mocks glenmorangie because he knows, like most of us, that it is better tasting for less money.
Ze Germans.... Zo funny
I don t like when you guys pretend you are arguing, or talking Bad about others dram. I would rather listen individual tastings.
Take it easy bro. They've been doing individual tastings for years and of these two drams. It's just a little light hearted banter to cheer our spirits.
Glenmorangie. Macallan not so much. Smells like farts
I also prefer Glenmorangie!
