- In this episode I'm joined first by Ryan Hunn to discuss Arsenal's 2-0 win over Luton on Wednesday evening.
We chat about the changes Mikel Arteta made to his team, and some of the selection decisions - not least Emile Smith Rowe getting a rare start in midfield, and making a telling contribution to the result. We also discuss how the second half felt versus the reality of the game, some of the mainstays in team who helped support the players who came in, whether the left back position is one to keep an eye on in the summer, and more.
Then I chat to Elliot Smith from the ArsenalVision Podcast about their annual fundraiser for the Arsenal Foundation, including a clip from Leah Williamson, and info about how and what is being done to positive impact the lives of so many people through the prism of Arsenal.

Imagine the gold glove is a closed fist: Raya is the palm at the back; the 4 fingers are White, Saliba, Gabriel, and Zinchenko/Tomi/Kiwior; the thumb in front of them all is Rice/Jorginho.
Would be a brilliant achievement/reward for them to earn by the end of the season ✊
Nicely done!
Guest: 'Reiss Nelson had a good game'' .... Andrew: 'That's interesting.' 😂
Thought Reiss Nelson did alright in the first half, really wanted that 2nd goal to be his also. He needs the trust and confidence boost. I remember when he debuted for us, he was the original Saka tearing it up on the wings.
@@M1d32no, he needs to be sold
@@Oruo1 well let him have a few performances to showcase what he’s capable of, can’t let players like him rot on the bench. Saka plays 24/7.
@@M1d32 He didn't do anything great
Unfortunately Reiss possess a severe aversion to taking on his man and being pro active. Far too many backwards passes when the option was there to turn and make a driving run, overall very timid performance.
Is that because it has been coached out of him or he has lost his confidence. When he first burst onto the scene wasn't he someone who took risks (remember the game during covid when we beat liverpool)
I agree with Ryan on Reiss. At any work situation, you'll need a Nelson. Someone who's professional, ambitious enough wanting to do the best, but at the same time doesn't mind not showing off and loyal to your team.
Another question would be why not pick Vieira? I think Ryan's reasoning was it.
I love how much Andrew has a crush on Ben white.
Ryan is right about Reiss. It was an unselfish, safe performance...fine for first start for years...but he'll need to show much more to be retained..
It's kinda funny how James said (and I'm paraphrasing here) the post Man City pod, that Arteta 'might make 1 or 2 changes but that we won't see 4 or 5'. And he went ahead and made exactly 5 changes 😂
Timber had pushed White out then moved left with Zinchenko injury. He is too good (if gets back to full fitness , many don't) to be Whitr back up. I think he may well be first choice left back but Tommy Kiwior Zinchenko allow rotation and options in style. If Timber good to go imagine pacey forward and midfielder or 2 is priority?
Luton have impressed me this year with their tactics and how they go about games. Unlike Sheff Utd and Burnley, Luton have a decent striker who scores goals in Morris. I mean, what is the point of Olly McBurnie? And they have a potential England player again, Barkley, doing well pulling the strings. Hope they stay up.
Arsenal always needs a scapegoat, Zinny is it right now
mate, he's incredibly, incredibly poor on defense. He leaves the backline pretty badly exposed, he's the adverse of Tierney. Were Tierney struggled in attack, Zinchenko struggles at defending.
@@FreddyMacTThat's his assignment dummy
Arteta trusts Martinelli to play in an uncomfortable position out at RW than Vieira ? interesting
Martinelli is a winger. So it's not about comfort imo. It's his position. Any winger should be able to play both wings imo
just trying to get some minutes in his legs before Saturday
Did anyone notice how the game completely died offensively once Nketiah came on?
It always does, he is just not good I hate when he comes on
Confirmation bias. He was ok. We weren't better with him, but we certainly weren't worse.
Id prefer if he was sold to generate cash but thats a bit tight i realy think that arteta prefers not to concede in those positions.
I think Eddie is at the limit of what he can do in an Arteta team. His work rate, intelligence on the ball, and ability to combine with others is inconsistent, as is his finishing.
First, to comment! Hooray for me and Arsenal 😂🎉🎉🎉
Why do people need to say 'first comment', without actually having a point to that comment? I am really curious.
So that my comment has a purpose, i feel that some of those player 'that we have out grew' need to be moved on to give space in the squad to youth players (so they have a clear route to the first team and make the team attractive to youth players).
@richardholmes1920 : Dude, I see your point, but come on. It's just for fun 😅
@richardholmes1920 a comment doesn't need to always have a point. Can just be a comment sometimes
