He wasn't just a performer either. He wrote, and produced his music. He was an extreme perfectionist. He also has many years experience of performing at that point. He's been on stage since he was like 5. He wasn't called The King of Pop for nothing. I really enjoyed your reaction. You always have great videos.
Well, to be fair, he co-produced with Quincy Jones on most of his albums of this era, AFAIK. I'm guessing that Quincy had a HUGE amount to do with the production. You don't hire one of the biggest producers in the history of pop music if you want a silent partner.

@@deanroddey2881 Qunicy is an amazing producer but it doesn't mean he can get the credit more than MJ. that's why he is a co-producer. you know what that means right? He didn't write the songs he produced the album with MJ. he co-produced 3 albums incl. Thriller . and you can actually find out how Quincy and Michael produced those 3 albums they talked about so many times. how MJ writes the songs and how Quincy manages the songs.

He had literally everything you could ever want in an artist. He pioneered so many things. His produced, wrote, and all that, but he also helped come up with the shoes to be able to do "the lean" move for this live where it hooked into the stage seamlessly. He was a god tier performer.

Maybe early 80s but not mid to late 80s. He was too big, it was an older crowd he captured but teens and early 20s bailed on him.. it wasn't until the early 90s did he recapture a younger crowd again..

Hai Biss. Am glad you recognized MJ's talent. This was released about 34 years ago, and the minds of the people were not exposed to these types of technology, special effects, and this level of talent. We did not even have Cellular phones (before smartphones) or the internet. When the people saw MJ's performance it was like... us being able to board a ship and take us on a tour around the solar system in under 2 hours, It was near magical. People went CRAZY for him. He was "a" god in those days.

There will never be another superstar like Michael Jackson... those days of Elvis, Madonna, Queen, the original Guns N' Roses, George Michael, Prince, Led Zeppelin... are gone. The internet has made everything so accessible that we see Taylor Swift backstage or at home...
Back then in the 80's, we didn't have an MTV where I was... I got a cassette and just loved Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' album... and once in a while, they would play his videos on TV and we would go, "Wow! That guy is the greatest!"
They would play his music at my school. He was heard everywhere, from America to Australia... EVERY one was playing Michael Jackson at full volume between 1983 and 1985. We didn't have a VCR to record the videos from TV and see him when we wanted. That creates more fan demand... We never saw Michael Jackson at home or backstage rehearsing at all.
So, imagine Michael Jackson, THE star... coming to play a concert in Romania. The hysteria was probably like The Beatles back in the 60's... the chance to see Michael Jackson perform his dance moves and sing? Everyone who was a fan would go crazy for sure...
The other thing was, Michael Jackson's stage productions were massive... most artists can't do that kind of tour any more if demand isn't there - the costs and logistics of that stage show were so big that Pepsi had to sponsor the tour to pay the costs... The Stage and the performers and pyro were a spectacular event... He sold out 7 shows at England's Wembley stadium on the 'Bad' album tour in 1988 (Queen sold out 2 shows there in 1986) - u can see that tour on DVD "Bad world tour live at Wembley 1988".
Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album 1988 tour was #2 grossing only to Pink Floyd, who were touring again for the first time in nearly a decade.
U can also see the 'Dangerous' album tour on DVD "Live in Bucharest: the Dangerous tour" from 1992.

Many journalists and witnesses at the time were quoted saying it was the first time they ever felt 'free' since the fall of Ceausescu's murderous Communist dictatorship. Great choice!

Did you say you were from Romania? When he visited in 1992 nobody went to work for the 3 days he was there. The concert at Bucharest was sold out but there were so many people you couldn't even get anywhere near the stadium for miles. Mj liked music loud and from locals you could also hear the music for miles away. Let's not forget he also visited sick kids there and donated all his fee to the various charities around.
