- Battlefield 5's latest German JU-88 C bomber is a bit of a grind to level up but it has some very interesting unlocks including a 75mm AT cannon and a WW2 cluster munition known as the "Butterfly bomb" due to its appearance as it falls.

20mm guns wouldn’t be considered cannons, as only guns that fire a bullet larger than 20mm would be considered a cannon. A 20mm gun would be called a heavy machine gun, if it was mounted on a plane, and an Anti-Material Rifle if it was used by infantry.

@@buttered__toast_2899 Having a jet be the only answer to another jet is not game balance. If the only thing that could take out a tank was the other team's tank, then people would get pissed. Yet that's how it is with planes every time.

No one is using the dive brakes properly.
On a aide note, its not a bug while releasing the butterfly. Id you're accurate enough, you can shoot the bombs at they drop or even when the bomb bay is open.

This plane was seriously underwhelming, but the new mosquito is definition war machine, fast firing cannon 4 nose mounted anti infantry machine guns and a 4000lb bomb
4:36 the glorious blenheim: the heaviest bomber of the war. Some say the entire bombing of dresden was performed by just one blenheim. It later inspired the americans to develop the B-29 superfortress. Tho the only vehicle to ever best the blenheim was the mighty bob semple tank

I think there is a glicht on the Stuka because you can't drop both 250kg bombs at once, you have to drop them one at a time with a reload in between. Unless this is supposed to be this way.

The biggest 'oh shit' moment I've had while flying in BFV was on Hamada flying the Stuka while having a Mosquito with a cannon tailing me, I had targeted it because I saw it absolutely annihilate friendly ground forces, I practically asked for it and came so close that the explosions from missed rounds were visible in my chase camera, miraculously I got away by completely throttling down, stalling out and hoping the enemy plane would just go away.
I remember thinking while passing over the Mosquito; 'Oh right, because I'm a fighter it's harder to stay behind bombers because of the higher speed,' then the cannon opened up and panic ensued.
I wish I could get a break from fighters like that.
The 75 mm is an AP shell, on planes it will only overpenetrate, no time to arm the fuse
I feel like the Ju-88 P with its 5cm gun would have been the better and "more historically accurate" choice, because the 7,5cm gun version was discontinued pretty quickly since the gun was just too much for the aircraft, just how it feels like in BFV.
I played BF5 today, and was on the El Sundan map. I played as the Spitfire with the Hispano cannons by default for the last ten/fifteen seconds of the match, and I shot a Bf-109 pilot out of his plane while doing a stalled climbing turn. That lifted my raging spirits up a bit.

Okay the 2x 250kg bombs, provides you can concentrate them, can take out anything that has the Valentine chassis. By concentrate, I mean dive so you can land them both on the tank

The "bug" with the butterfly bombs exploding while getting hit by flak is not a bug u know how u shoot granades out of the sky thats now the same with shooting those bombs with flak so its not a bug i'm not a hater just saying i love ur vids and have a nice day
It has happened to me when I drop bombs, I think it is intentional, kinda like being able to shoot grenades

Tbh I feel like the butterfly bombs blowing up while falling out of the plane, thereby causing the destruction of the plane, is intentional.
I can't stand the panzerfaust. In my opinion, they should have only one rocket, along with a single dynamite. Attrition, right?

I’d say start with one on spawn with the ability to get that up to two with ammo, but yeah no single assault player should be able to kill a tank on their own it’s ridiculous. Tanks should be terrifying and ominous requiring teamwork to take them down
So just a little side note.... 250 bombs are meant for vehicles not people... the bigger the bomb the bigger the target... that is why carpet bombing with smaller bombs is more effective on infantry and useless against vehicles so when you say 250 bombs aren't that good id have to disagree....
those 20 mm canons were mounted on Dornier and were facing up, not down. They call them die Shragemusik.

Seat switching is good, especially against fighters right behind, they love to shoot the bottom of the bomber. Use the f3 seat switch and aim just below the fighter Engine and it melts.
I feel like they should have released this one first because the mosquito is a manageable plane from day one. The JU 88 struggles against any lighter aircraft while the mosquito can manage just fine against most aircrat
Sad to say it, but I didn't get to level 40 this chapter, I slacked off the week of the archer, then realized the challenges gave XP when I'm scrambling to get to level 40 from level 35 at 1am with things to do the next day .-.

Yes because every assault player in battlefield knows how to perfectly align up a shot to take out low flying planes with their panzerfaust.

Piper it’s pretty easy for a competent player when the planes are flying real low like he said, then again the majority of bf players are not competent
Your load being blown up by flak is by design, happens with the AT mines out the Stuka all the time, just gotta make sure ya don’t take flak when ya drop em
I think that they should definitely add a B-17 or Sherman tanks because they were used by all allies and are just classic symbols of WW2

This butterfly bombs works the same as Stuka 2 AT mines. They explode if there is bullets on you, including your own mg shots!

I can never manage to have fun in planes because whenever I spawn it’s usually with in a manor of seconds that a Stuka with its 20mm or a Mosquito blows me out of the sky. They kinda feel like papier-mâché as compare to the literal paper planes in BF1.
Actrually ww1 biplanes were practically unkillable seeing the only damage you could do was control wires (which relied on pure luck) hitting the pilot or hitting the engine. During ww2 with the advent of the auto cannons and impact fuses now you could destroy planes insanely quickly seeing all of the plane was a hard surface that could dry the fuses. Only old style wooden and fabric planes had high survilibilty but even then their crew was easier to kill seeing a single 20mm round could kill half the crew.
Then again irl the mos would be never faced ju88c because that late on the war when they were armed most ju88s we're destroyed. And the rest were on the eastern front or the northern front as anti shipping planes. Because they could carry 2 torps with great speed.

The 75mm gun is garbage! The butterfly bombs are good but I like using the ventral guns! Going down that part of the tree makes it a C-130! LOL I love this because you destroy anything that flies in front of you and fighters unless they tag team you have no chance as do anything else in the sky! You also get the upgraded tail gunner seats as well and that is why fighter are easy prey. But those ventral guns literallyl take a plane out in 1 second if you are on the fuselage! On strafing runs you will eat up ground troops as well! Best load IMO! I can pretty much stay up the whole round as long as I have a wing man who can keep the double teaming off me! But then again no one can take a double team in the air! It also works against AA guns!
Unlocking things for that bomber was hell for me.

When ever I can spawn in and be a back gunner or anything like that I always kill at that position and keep my buddy safe throughout the match
FLAK hitting your bomb load and making it explode is realistic. I wouldn't consider that a bug at all.

I use set up where I have enhanced turrets and 4x 20mm cannons. It rocks bro
I tend to avoid planes in bf5, only one I ever have any luck with is the type 2 zero fighter with fire bombs and 20mm. Tanks and infantry is where its at for me
There was a variant of the JU88 with an 88mm gun that is seen on the tiger tank
Where I live (grimsby) that was where germany first used the butterfly bomb
Me and my mate were getting absolutely harassed by mosquitoes until eventually my friend couldn’t take anymore and got into a bf 109 and tried his best.. I tried my best with an AA gun but eventually what gave us the skys were me, some teammates and my friend on an AA gun to jump in Stuka b-2‘s

A little disappointed you didn't point out that the camera only gets 5 shots and can not get more ammunition. Maybe they hot fixed that bug, but when I was playing a couple days ago the inability to reload the camera basically made this plane trash tier for me.
obviously the butterfly bombs explode when you're dropping them whilst getting nailed by anti air...They are bombs dude.. they unfortunately have a slower falling speed so when they do go off they tend to be in pretty close proximity to the plane itself. All the bombs in the game can be prematurely detonated if hit by gunfire or the likes of before they hit their intended targets.
I hope they don't get rid of that element personally
I played this game after months of doing Apex Legends instead. I shot a Panzer rocket right next to someone and it did 11 splash damage... 11. Also still dying after finding cover (bullets feel like they're following me sometimes).

20 mm is an antivehicle round, and is used by the warthog to tear apart tanks. The Barret 50 Cal is 12.5mm.

your "flak issue" has been around the entire game with the stuka mine drop.. just be mindful of when youre dropping them!!

Is it just happening to me, or does the camera upgrade not resupply when you fly through the resupply stations? I was going for the butterfly’s/ 75mm and thought that the camera was just a throwaway but didn’t realize you loss your bomb payload in the process 😭
Butterfly bomb are not glitched. Finally ground troops can fight back aginst super douche pilots who go for kills instead of team goals
remmington308 You're not wrong, the point of planes is to kill people on the ground or other planes for the most part with the exception of the more support orientated Blenheim maybe.

it makes me mad that they nerfed the planes.. it should've stayed like how it was when the game launched.. yes bombers were really powerful but that's teh point of a bomber.. if you want to counter it they should just fix the AA guns to do more damage.. I'm tired of bombing and flying around until I get another set of bombs, the enemy planes kill me by the time I get new bombs so I can strafe run again.. :c
In a right strafe you can use your camera , and hit 3-4 shots.... enough to deal with a mobile aa.....
Mosquito version 2:
Better agility, better starting loadout, faster, smaller target, better fully leveled loadout, a shit ton more damage, faster rate of fire, etc.
JU-88c:
No agility, horrible starting loadout, slower, very big target, average fully leveled loadout, you wanted damage?, incredibly slow rate of fire, etc.

RangerDave has never played WarThunder. The 75mm cannon on the StuG and Panzer IV takes like 8-10 seconds to reload. You're complaining about an airplane taking 2 seconds to reload your 75mm cannon.
Apples and oranges. Fact of the matter is that the gun is laughably weak compared to the Mosquitos 6 pounder. More damage would justify the slower reload but even the 6 pounder beats it there. You can't knock out a tank crew in BF5 either so there goes that idea

Just one question. Why invest so much time in an aircraft to reach lvl. 4 and the plane is still a dog. There are (In my opinion) no redeeming qualities to this aircraft. I say move on to other aircraft that can at least serve a purpose.
It takes literally 3 games to get level 4, if that.
I don’t think it’s a glitch I mean they are butterfly bombs…they are slower to decent and in the game you can shoot bombs before they hit the ground and detonate them…so taking away realizism for me anyway makes no sense…just have to time your bombing runs and use better tactics rather then mindlessly flying around and bombing lol I love games with these mechanics so it makes you think about the pros and cons about bombing runs in each area of the map..some are more risky then others so it all makes sense to me..removing that like I said would just take away from the game
