This is a great lesson to help me get more distance. I also looked at your video on hitting from the inside out - one stick was at 4:00 o’clock for your takeaway and you have another stick that points down the ball line but is stuck in the ground about a foot or so above your ball. My question is, if I pull my trail foot back 3-4 inches to get a bigger backswing (this lesson) does the 4:00 o’clock takeaway (other lesson) move as well?
Hey Richard! Yeah you could move it in a little more (like 4:30) but honestly keeping right at 4 still applicable....foot being back should just help you get there!
This video was made for guys like me. 63 years old. 2 back surgeries and 2 shoulder surgeries. I'm still strong and fit, but can't seem to get the power to the golf ball. My body doesn't want to turn, my left arm won't stay straight and can barely get my hands above my right shoulder. I started moving my right foot back a little and drives were improving. Then my son (who's not 63) convinced me to to align my feet with the target. Screw that! I'm going back to offsetting my feet as shown.
great video, I'm 63 and I have had a torn right bicep for quite a while now and I feel that the left arm is making me pull the club to left hitting the flares out to the right, big slice, is there anything I can work on to compensate for this, thanks
Hey Ed! We would really need to see your swing to say for sure for you what you in particular need to focus on....but I bet if you watch any of our slice fix videos that would be a good start!
Hey! So more than 45* turned during the backswing YES....at setup I would say then are more like 20-30* per set turned On right leg YES should straighten SOME....not lock straight....lose some of the bend it has at setup to help push the trail hip up and back
Eric, I do think the long backswing is overrated for power. Look at throwing a football or baseball for example. The are doesn’t go back further to throw farther, it’s the move to the target and the release that adds propulsion. Same with a hockey slap shot. No longer backswing just more torque and forward lean. No disrespect intended, just my observation.
Btw, today is my birthday … I am 68 yo now… my h’cap is 10… (white t-box). So, I hv distance problem w long game n I need abt 15-20 Meters longer both my driver n second shot. My score now totally depends on my short game.
Greetings from Hawaii Excellent video and coaching. Very good content. Thanks coach
Thanks Richard!!

Great lesson
Thank you!!
Sending to my dad ASAP!
Lol yes please do :)
Great tip! Do the shoulders stay square or do they match the knees and feet?
Great question Michael....either can work but I like to lean toward matching the knees and feet!

Does this mean one's hips will be at more than a 45 degree angle? And does one's right leg straighten more?

This demo would be more effective with a 65 year old who hits a weak fade 210-220.😉
Lol for sure
