  • Portuguese Camino COASTAL Route Video 1 - Porto to Vila Chã
This is the second time we were in Porto as a few weeks ago we were here starting our first Portuguese Camino which was the Central route. This video begins the coastal and senda litoral route. Now that we completed both we can say with certainty that we enjoyed the coastal mixed with some senda litoral routes better. For 100% certain we recommend hugging the coast the first few days if not more.
Here are a few notes about some cool sites to see.
The Half Rabbit made of trash is located at R. Guilherme Gomes Fernandes 42
Vila Nova de Gaia, 4430-999 Portugal and coordinates are 41.1369, -8.6150 and on your way there you can see the street of artist. On your way back it’s very economical to take the Gondola for a few euros and it will get you up the hill to walk over the bridge back to the cathedral.
The Imperial McDonalds is located at 127 Praça da Liberdade - Porto Portugal and the coordinates are 41.1466, -8.6108
VERY CLOSE to the McDonalds is the Sao Bento Station which is free and a must see place - pictures do not convey the beauty. It’s located at 122 Rua Santa Isabel Porto, 4000-326 Portugal and the coordinates are 41.1456, -8.6105
You might be able to tell that I wasn’t too impressed with the cathedral but maybe I’m comparing it to Burgos or Santiago in my mind. It just wasn’t that impressive to me.
In April and May 2024 my wife and I walked the Portuguese Camino Central route and within two days we started walking the Portuguese Camino COASTAL route (we ran out of time for the spiritual variant at the end). On the coastal route we really tried to go slower to enjoy the experience.

Thank you for commenting, because every time someone comments or gives a thumbs up or subscribes it helps the RUclips algorithm send the video out to more people.
Right now I am working on the French route because we leave in two weeks to walk that route.
We are really excited about it and I am planning to make some videos that are unique concerning that route.
As the Portuguese Camino unfolded I think some of my videos might have gotten more interesting compared to the first ones, so it gave me some ideas about the French route and how to make some of those videos interesting. Hopefully.
      Ha ha
      Again, thank you so much!

OMG ..Love the overview .. and I can't believe you were in Porto and ate poison at McDonalds .. was this because it was familiar to your diet, your body, your culture or was just fancy? What was Portugeese or traditional or just horribly familiar about the food? Were you using a drone and have any suggestions about how to film a walk on the Camino?

Welllll…. My wife wasn’t a fan of trying McDonald’s but the restroom is free if you buy something there. Haha.
There are some Portuguese foods I discovered and searched for on some menus like FRANCESINHA - which had lots of protein. It’s easier to try Portuguese dishes when we were out of Porto because it was difficult to know where to go in such a big city.
We have a small drone that fit in my Fanny pack and was light enough to be legal to fly in Spain. I’m really glad I brought it.
      Hope you enjoy the videos!!!

@@lualiens Yes I've enjoyed the videos .. thanks. I'm in Spain and plan to walk the Portugeese coastal in the fall, God willing.
So I'll know to order a McD's coffee if I need a washroom.

On the receipt they have the bathroom door electronic combination for the day. It’s such a unique building.

AND that is the most beautiful McDonald's in the world, with chandeliers and stained glass, right next to the stunning train station, and McD is so diff in Europe. Health food, no, but a slight indulgence yes.

I have video of that train station but the video can’t communicate how beautiful the tile work is. You have to see it to believe it.
