    I used to be able to calculate this when I was a student at UC. I was very good. Now, over 12 years later. Nope! If you don't go to the gym, the muscles shrink. I never encountered a reason to calculate logs. Physics a few times. Trig even more. Wet noodle.

    x=(log100-log2)/log8≈(2-0,3)/0,9≈17/9.
    Absolute error is about 0,0076.

    8^x+8^x=100
    8^x=50
    x=log8(50)
    x=1.8812853966 (I guess we don't need more digits).
    2*8^1.8812853966=100.000000001751951 (this should be accurate enough).
