Amazing Pre-Start Tactics - Youth Match Racing

It's Day 2 of the Youth Match Racing Championships and the competitors are upping their tactics to increase their scores.
It was perfect sailing conditions today with a nice South Westerly breeze and mostly overcast conditions with some sunny periods.
The competitors are racing Elliot 7 sports boats in this series. The Royal Perth Yacht Club is the host and the racing is being conducted in Matilda Bay which is just a couple of kms away from the Perth CBD.

At 2 minutes.. So overtaking boat must keep clear. Then we have an overlap of 2 inches and the helmsman throws the bow at the lead boat causing contact and wants a protest. Pretty sure you have to allow the boat being luffed time to maneuver or at least hail your intentions. You also must avoid contact whenever possible so there's a lot going on here.

I think that's why they are training ... "Amazing" is a tad strong but there is good boat control going on and good teamwork which is important.
