i've been growing these for a few years. i bought a container just like you did but ate 1 and hated it LOL i honestly think they picked the ones i got too early or something they werent green but the flavor was off. never the less i scraped out some of the seeds dried them and planted them the next season and grew them. the ones i grew tasted a million times better they are like candy when fully ripe they never make it in the house i just eat them fresh.
The commercial ones I've tried always taste a bit too tart. I think they pick them too green. This relative of the tomatoes really, really loves the heat. Try growing ground cherries in the warmest spot you've got, even inside a greenhouse if you got one. Wait to harvest until they fall off the plant and what an improved crop you'll enjoy!
Hi, I'm in Ann Arbor. I've grown the aunt Molly & pineapple ground cherry varieties for several years now, & although extended family was wowed by them, I thought they tasted so nasty, like ketchup mixed with sugar. I have been a little tempted to order some physalis peruviana seeds to see if the flavor is more palatable to me than the physalis pruinosa cultivars.
Haha😂 ❤those look much bigger than husk cherries we grow. My wife found a jam recipe we love it it has ginger and star anise for enhancement. ❤ your tube

I bought them for the first time last night and I love these. I told my family it seemed similar to a tomato but more fruit/berry like
Our Shoprite often has moldy fruit on the shelf too. I found dried golden berry and it was a bit too much zing for me when so condensed.
