I am glad I came across this video. I actually just doing lawn mowing services and it has been helpful. I get a call just about everday. I’m am thinking of doing this full time on the weekends. I have a a full time during the week for benefits, this would be to start my own business and have extra cash to have. Also I’m doing this for my son Liam, who will be on this earth in 3 months. I’ve never felt a love like this before. 😊
Congratulations brother on the new family member and starting your own business. EXCITING STUFF!!
Congrats, Joel. I want to start with lawn mowing to help my family out and pay for school. Any advice?
Congrats man! As a fellow Joel with a lawn care business and my first son on the way…. Cheers to us!💪🏼
@@CrazyCritterz congrats on the son on the way!!
Congrats on the kiddo bro
This is what I’m talking about … we have people like you making 600 dollars a day mowing…MOWING ! Yet again we see people jobless because they are lazy… keep up the good work bro!
Thanks for your support brother!!
As a fellow vet, super proud of your hard work brother. I'm talking to my 16 yr old to help him learn this as a hustle. I'm half tempted to do it myself honestly. 1 day a week to bring in some extra cash flow. But for a 16 year old he could really make some good money doing this. His only issue he has is his social skills he is very recluse.
Thank you for your service! Thats amazing that your 16 year old is interested in getting into lawn care. It will teach him a lot of great lessons in life.
Recluses are great salespeople. Eye contact and speak up that'll do it.
Also as a fellow Vet, thank you BOTH for your services and keep up the great work brother! I enjoy the content and I am also a solo owner operator in the Lawn Care game in my local area in the FL panhandle region. Been at it two seasons now pt and going ft Spring 2024
@@Esquivelheadwhy do you say recluses are great salespeople
@@andrewmacfarlane4899 I just think labelling people isn't really the way to go. Anyone can do sells if someone can teach them. I knock doors with my sons to mow and they drop their jaws that I can get work, but putting someone down when all they need to do is learn a little skill isn't the coolest.
Im a very young man looking to start a official lawn care business with a couple friends who are just as dedicated as me and this video has been very helpful in the category of pricing and efficiency. Also you are greatly appreciated for your time in the service and I wish nothing but greatness and success upon you.
Go for it!! Thank you for your support!
I wish that I could find people to cut their lawn for just even half that. Where I live people won't pay no $65 when I tried 3 years ago half the people didn't even want me to do it for 20. So good luck and keep up the good work. And I'll keep watching. You guys do good work.😊
Thank for the support brother!!
I guess it depends on where you live. I'm in a small town in Indiana with a 6600 sq ft lot and I was lucky enough to find a guy who mows it for 30.00. I only have him mow, no edging or weeding because I like doing that myself.
@@ilvcountry That's awesome! Thank you for sharing.

Really enjoy the video. One thing that may be worth mentioning is Sales = more money, efficiency = profit margin
You make a solid point!! Thanks for sharing and your support!
It’s definitely a great Job/Side Hustle. The hard part is the competition, so many people are doing lawn care these days
Consistency is key!
Be consistent. The volume of people doing it can drive price down but make sure you have a base or you basically be cutting for free
I’m in DFW and been in landscaping business since 2014. There are so many areas and new houses being built. So there is definitely competition but enough for anyone who works hard to eat. I charge basically square footage not hr. Most of these yards take around 30-40 mins front and back if your athletic and high quality equipment. You charge weekly or bi weekly. Most small or medium yards he just done are around 40-50$. I charge straight up now taxes or anything. I haven’t worked for anyone since I started my landscaping company when I was 23. Turning 33 this Nov and if you live in DFW it’s been 🥵 af the last month. But we outside getting 💰 ✂️ 🌱

My Lawn Service the key factor as I found with my Lawn Service is attitude if you’re a nice person and you let them know that you are and you’re willing to work with him they will even pay more money to keep you. I have gotten so many tips good tips from being on time, listening to the customer and taking the time to go talk to them I’ve had so many customers that I’ve gone because of other companies have ran through there and didn’t take time to say good morning or anything and just be nice to the customer and make them feel important. I’ve gotten so many jobs from other companies that, they just didn’t talk to the people. I know you have to make money and I know time is money but invest the time into talking to your customers will meet the attitude makes a heck of a difference. I hope this helps somebody just really be nice and feel like you care for the people that you’re working for good luck.

How much did u end up charging bro I’m starting business soon
originally i started of with $50 but pushing for $60 and probably more in the future but going forward 60-70 is probably enough to hire someone@@soulja617
Im at about 550 for lawm cutting. I dont use trailers i just lift my mower. Just have the one day so far a week but starting to fill up another day and have other 3 for big jobs
Nice!!
I have a small lawncare business in Colorado Springs - "In Season, Out of Season Yard Care."
I think my pricing metrics are a bit off. I inherited the set accounts & pricing from the gentleman i bought the business from, and I think most are fair or fairly low. I'm not using an $80/man hour metric on the mowing, but i do use a $69/man hour (plus dump fees) pricing for spring/fall clean outs. The former business owner wanted me to raise the prices after I acquired the business, but I didn't want to start out that way.
This is my second full year, but I'm not sure how to augment my pricing, except for small, incremental increases from year-to-year.
I'm trying to get rid of my restaurant/server job and do this REALLY FULL TIME. I currently have 26 customers (more than half of which are weekly mowings), and if I reach 35, then I can call it a day at the restaurant. That's my short-term plan.
What advice does anyone have to offer?
I have a swampy area in the lowest portion of my back yard that can't always be mowed due to all the moister. So my lawn guy said he would cut it manually and charge me at an hourly rate. Seemed fair enough so I agreed. Two guys showed up, took them two hours to get it done. He billed me $500!
Sounds overpriced
That does seem pretty high. Next time I would maybe ask them for a hard quoted number before agreeing to the job. I'm sorry that happened to you.
Did he brought 2 guys from a hair saloon?
@@TheWillKelly that is not over priced, it could of been a huge swampy area with knee high grass, it sounds about right for me because you have to remember, labor and square feet are two different things that you have to charge on every project
First and foremost thank you for your service.
Your video help me stay motivated I just open my lawn care business have no customer yet but I did what you mention I did some flyers and pass them out this past Monday.👍🏽

Glad to hear!!
Just found your channel and you deserve way more subscribers.
I appreciate that!! Do me a favor and tell your friends about the channel!!😄 that’s the best kind of compliment.
I like your videos. In my area lawn services are oversaturated and i’ll be lucky to get half the properties you do in a day. Most of my yards i’d do were for people that can’t physically do mow or do any kind of yard work themselves. I’ve been out of mowing for a while and I had to move and I have no room to store my equipment.
You got this man keep persevering!
I pay $37 to lawn mowing. And 3 people need to work for 10 mins. Thats about $70 per hour per person. And you make $600, that gonna be 9 hours per day. I live in the 2nd most expensive area across US. And just noticed you use push mower. You really work hard!!!
And I have 6000 sqf lawn. So for a 8000 sqf lawn, my current company will charge $40~$45.
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
When you say you make that much in a day, are your customers paying you each visit? Or are you being paid monthly but that’s what each cut comes out to? Sorry if I missed that in the video. Great work!
Thank you for posting this it really helps. Really want to start a business but just don't know where to start
You got this!! Just print out some flyers and start today.
Hi I have just started doing gardens myself I can’t believe people pay that sort of cash in America I live in the north of Scotland and I have been gettin about £50 for a big really overgrown garden I am ruffly makin around £140 a day I have just started up but maybe the more experience I get I will start taking on different jobs and charging more 👍🏻😁

Glad you liked it!
I've been thinking about getting started in lawn care myself.

Great video, I live in your area, I'm honestly shocked how much your getting per yard, I will be increasing my prices for next season.
We live in a GREAT market and raising your prices will allow you for greater profit margins. I think that is a great idea!
Some Businesses charge $175 an hour. The difference is they do cut down small scrub trees, the lawns are usually way overgrown and vines growing up the sides of the houses and much bigger lots. I know this requires larger equipment .

I would love to start a lawncare business. I live in a small town and I would feel bad charging the people here 80$ an hour. Some of the yards are bigger, but I just don't have any idea what my hourly should be.

I see to many ppl weeding after they mow. I personally weed 1st so there is no clippings on top of a freshly mowed grass. Looks nicer and some of my customers have mentioned that they like me doing it that way. 😁 makes you feel good when they are happy and the fact they pay attention to detail.
We do on overgrown properties but all of our customers are weekly so we don't have a huge issue with that.
@@TheWillKelly,I Need To Take A Shower And Please Give Me Your Time Even 30 Minutes Give Me A Reminder And I Need To Do That Business
Damn. That first lawn in my area would be probably around $30-35.
I about to start advertising my own services see how it goes
Nice!!! You got this!!
I'd recommend charging $60-$70-$80 or higher depending on not only your service providence, but also your gas. You need to pay gas for both machines, mowers, and vehicle at the end of, or during the rout/ day. So you'll come off with half to little of the money you had earned. That being said, you'll want to charge how much your service is worth, as well. You'll also want to save most the money you earn to purchase more equipment later in the future.
I'd also like to state I'm not in the lawn mowing business, I'm just going by logistics. You also may want to carry light equipment. Purchase the lightest equipment you can get a hold of once possible, it makes it easier to push the mower around, and would be much quicker, as well. If it's a blower, make sure it's light for your standards, so you don't lug it around and make yourself tired quicker. Same goes for the weed whackers and stuff.
I also see now he charges per hour once finished the video. My idea's mainly for people who are charging a one charge payment. But nah, if you charging per hour, you're probably golden for gas if you charge $20-$30 or more an hour. Lol 😂
Great points!! Thank you for sharing!
Would you consider adding other services (liming, pest/weed control, etc) to expand your business?
Yes absolutely! However I would look at what your goals are and what you want to accomplish before giving a hard answer to that question.
If I’m considered leaving my company landscaping job and making my own business, what would a comfortable number of clients be to quit my job and run it full time. Side note, I do not have a truck. I have an SUV so I’ll be starting out with putting a push mower, blower and weed liner in my trunk with the seats down. Again, what’s a safe number to run that type of business full time comfortably
There’s a lot of variables that play into this but ultimately you would need to make enough to replace your income. You have to be careful though because you also have expenses now. So you actually need to make double if not triple what you currently make now each week to sustain that take home pay.
Dude, I'm in Australia, just starting out. I'd pay $100 easy to to have a ready make pricing structure.
Check the description on the video I made our completely free for you to use.

$100 per hour is pretty good.

In Houston, if we need lawn guys, most guys only ask for like 20-40 bucks with the grass being like 2 inches longer
Yeah man it’s a great business!!

What happens when it rains? Do you need to cover all your gear?
Secondly, without a canopy to hide your gear, doesn’t it just make it way more exposed to get them stolen?

When does one need to get insurance and licenses, etc. ? Just on the side as of now, but what about being sued from accident while driving. Something arises on a property?
It’s whatever you are comfortable with. I know in the state of Texas once you make more than 6k for the year you need to start charging sales tax.
Great work! But why do all these yards look unhealthy? Have you recommended aeration service or just kinda stick to your roots?
we do offer aeration services in the fall time. These were a lot of our newer lawns that haven't been fertilized a few times yet.
@TheWillKelly makes sense, wasn't trying to knock ya! Was just curious, sometimes customers just don't care though too
Can I start with just a weed eater to cut and edge lawns on a budget?
